Epilogue: My New Life
Sundown, with Ruby on his back, trotted down the streets of PonyVille. He had finally moved in, and was quite happy when he settled. After the whole "save Equestria with my family" thing, he had gotten used to his cousins.
Zach went back to the Everfree Forest with Inferno the Phoenix, but he visited them and went shopping for supplies in the village. So he was pretty well off.
Solana and Lunar Eclipse were sad to see Sundown leave Canterlot permanently, but they were also happy that he had finally discovered friendship, in just about the same way his mother did.
Speaking of Twilight, she and Leo came out of Sundown's heart for some family gatherings, and were always there when Sundown needed help or guidance. They were well off too.
As for Ruby, she was pretty bummed out that her father's ghost disappeared, but Leo and Twilight acted like parents to her, so she was fine with living without her true dad.
Sundown stopped at Sugarcube Corner, and sat down at a table with Hummingbird, Pizza, Zach, and the twins. Pinkie, Mikey, Raph, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Donnie sat down with Leo and Twilight's ghosts at the next table over, but everypony, young, old, married, single were happier than they ever could be.
"Guys, it's time to sing 'Happy Birthday'!" screamed Pizza. All the ponies in PonyVille had come to Sundown's first birthday party in his new home. He had saved the world just a few months before his birthday. Ponies gathered around the table, and Elusive used his horn to light the candles.

Everybody burst into cheers and applause, and for once, Sundown truly felt like he belonged right where he was, and he was happier than he ever was before.
He was home.
