As Rarity and Applejack are expecting another baby, Applejack has a realization that she discusses with Rarity regarding their family.

“Being an outcast in your own home can be lonely,” Rarity said softly. “I didn’t expect them to, but the fact that my parents didn’t even acknowledge the opening of any of my three boutiques was a punch to the gut.”

It's a fun read and I enjoyed it, but this one passage struck a sour note for me. I just can't imagine Rarity saying the phrase "punch to the gut." It feels far too pedestrian for her. I suppose it could be explained as Applejack's influence during their marriage. I just think there's a more refined phrasing for the concept.
In all, though, it was a very real-feeling glance at their lives. Good job.
