Well, Twilight will be very intelligent, but if after having been with who knows how many stallions her zeal still does not calm down, then logic says that she likes mares, having as proof that she was quite calm while living in the town where she was with her friends and saw them frequently, and now that she's no longer around them, her zeal is screaming at her to be with a mare, but Twilight's highly intelligent brain is obviously not listening.
