this sounds weird I recomment removing the first busy
If you get stabbed and don't bleed, you should still be very worried and that wound needs to be cleaned ASAP. Pointy things are often not sterile* and all those bacteria the blood would have washed out are still in there. Have fun getting tetanus and dying horribly.
This is why cat bites are dangerous even when they don't cause bleeding.
*Neither is your skin, so even a sterile needle can get contaminated the moment it touches you.
Salt water wash. Requires salt, which unless theres an easily accesible halide seam, means running a transport link to the coast. Cheap salt is a big deal in civilisation. In Roman times it was difficult to get, so soldiers were paid in it, hence Salary. Not Saladry.
So much to do, so short a lifetime to do it in.
PROCLAMATION!
I find it funny that the chapter has exactly 2000 words.
*Whew!* He's finally done it.
Ian Langerman, this guy...
"I want to build a sewer, but there's a war in my way... I guess I'll just go and end the war!"
And it's kind of nice to see a less subtle villain every once in a while. Really helps the feeling that things are wrapped up when there's no hint that the heroes' conclusion to the mystery might be wrong.
...It's not wrong, right?

Would it be any fun at all to answer that?

Yeah. That's why the nurse rubs the spot for the injection before giving the shot. Whenever the skin is broken, there is a chance of infection. Of course, this is Equestria and magic is all around. So maybe a simple spell can clean out the wound without any alcohol or betadione.

hence, alcohol prep wipes.
Well, looks like it's been a productive day for Ian. All that needed to happen was for Shadymane to get assaulted and for him to get stabbed and almost murdered.
Eh, things moved WAY too quickly between this chapter and the last couple. If you have the will and the time, I'd recommend coming back to the [Guard captain throws spear and kicks off conflict] plot point and maybe smoothing things out so the pacing isn't so... abrupt. Part of the issue is how easily these leaps of logic are taking place, and the... uh. Villain of dubious quality.
I don't know, but attacking a council member in front of everyone else, when you're supposed to be able to plot your way into starting a massive armed revolt and taking advantage of it for power? Seems like a blatant idiot ball. If this is how things are in Celestia's court, then maybe the rebellion should have started on the basis of an anti-corruption campaign. "We demand leaders who aren't idiots!"
Soft being in the service of the Rebel leader is especially weird. Isn't he a recently returned diplomat, from a foreign nation? And admitting to being a spy is weirder. Or stupider. Never hire a spy who will admit to being a spy, unless the point is to get that person killed.
Anyways, others have already mentioned this, but usually getting stabbed leads to screaming and bleeding? Ian doesn't seem very concerned about it, despite minimal combat experience, which one would think would lead to him worrying more rather than less? Leg wounds are especially concerning. If you haven't had much experience with regards to wounds yourself in daily life, and if you can stomach it, I'd recommend doing some googling.
This is the first story of yours I've read, but this is a bit clumsy. Granted, I could say the same of the romance, but hopefully that'll change. Wait, no, I've got a couple of your fics in my To-Read folder. I guess we'll see if one point makes a trend later. Though to be fair, this is a year old.
