Her First Gig and Her Cutie Mark

We're back with Behind the Turntable: DJ P0N-3, if you're just joining us...first of all welcome and to bring you up to speed DJ P0N-3 had talked about how she became a DJ, her love life and her first duo group with her friend Rim Shot. Let's see how she got her first gig and cutie mark shall we?

“Our first gig was at the Apony Theater,” said Rim Shot.

“I'll never forget that day, Rim Shot and I were just jamming a little bit in the storage shed of his home which was pretty much our sound studio. All of a sudden some pony with a gray mustache and a disco ball as a cutie mark came up to us,” said DJ P0N-3.

“He told us how good he thought we were and he asked us if we had thought of giving a shot at amateur night at the Apony Theater,” said Rim Shot.

“I was like amateur night?! Isn't that for the best ponies? He told me that we were one of the best acts he had ever seen and Rim Shot and I were talking it over,” said DJ P0N-3.

“I thought it was a good idea and she thought it was a good idea so we both signed up for it, I mean amateur night at the Apony Theater...not many ponies can say that they had that opportunity arise,” said Rim Shot.

Yes amateur night at the Apony Theater, where many have tried to impress the crowd but only few have been successful in wooing the crowd. Others have gone down in the flames of failure, unable to escape the jaws of defeat.

“I remember us then going back to practice and uh...you know, it was critical” said Rim Shot

“I swear man we must've practiced for hours on edge, we were just creating beats off the top of our heads
but we were trying to find that one perfect beat that would get the crowd all riled up but we were just nervous ya know?” said DJ P0N-3.

“When it was time for us to go I remember just walking to the Apony Theater, nervous as ever but Vinyl was telling me hey relax we're gonna kill 'em!” exclaimed Rim Shot.

“I remember telling him that the worst that could happen was they don't like us but hey life goes on right? Rim was shaking like one of his cymbals after being hit with a drumstick. When we did get there we were let in through the back with the other performers and we had brought our stuff with us...well lugged in two big wagons,” said DJ P0N-3.

“When we were backstage there were about maybe twenty to thirty music acts, I managed to peer through the curtain and man you should've seen that crowd! There were at least a thousand or so in that crowd and I saw Vinyl's and my parents in the front rows,” said Rim Shot.

“Boy were we proud of her!” exclaimed Crossfader.

“I knew my boy would be at the Apony Theater!” exclaimed Rim Shot's father Drum Roll

“After about an hour we heard the announcer say to the crowd to give it up for Vinyl Shot and I knew it was do or die,” said Rim Shot.

“When we got on stage I took a deep breath and asked Rim Shot if he was ready, he was and I was...he started playing his drums and I began scratching on my forty-fives and before I knew it we were playing. Only thing was we were playing a totally different beat, something we never even practiced before,” said DJ P0N-3.

“I just went with flow of the music, I just made this beat up because truth be told I was so nervous that I forgot the original that we were going to perform,” said Rim Shot chuckling a bit.

Improvising, Vinyl Shot were becoming a hit with the crowd! They had been playing their hit song that we now know today as Colts n' Stuff.

“The crowd was cheering wildly for us!” exclaimed Rim Shot

“I swear I thought the roof was going to blow off we were so good! I mean that crowd was jumping and stomping their hooves to the music! When we took a bow we got a huge standing ovation, just me and Rim Shot with our hooves around
each other's waist taking a bow! Then when we went backstage we saw a pink unicorn with a white mane and gold record as a cutie mark and she said her name was Billboard,” said DJ P0N-3 excitedly

“She said that she liked what she saw out there and she wanted to sign us to her company for a one time deal, now first we had to console with our folks but they were cool with it as long as we were, which of course we were and we signed to the company and boom! We were artists,” said Rim Shot.

“As I looked around I noticed I had a mark on my rear, it looked to be two mirrored eighth notes...it was my cutie mark! I was so excited, Rim Shot got his as well...his were two drumsticks in the shape of an X,” said DJ P0N-3.

“Getting your cutie mark is exciting because you know you worked hard for it, you know that you put time and passion into it,” said Rim Shot.

“It was a great night for the both of us, first we get a standing o at the Apony, then we get signed with a record company which by my recollection has only happened twice before at the Apony but other than that we had a great night, and to top it all off we got our cutie marks!” exclaimed DJ P0N-3.

When we come back, we'll talk about their first album and how they took to their newly acquired fame and accolades.

“It was a great feeling in that recording studio, just me, my special somepony recording our album,” said DJ P0N-3.

“I'll be honest, I didn't think it was going to sell...I thought it was going to bomb,” said Rim Shot.
