Help Me

Spike threw his rain-soaked suit into the bathtub as he looked into the mirror. Rarity looked at him from the mirror, "Spike you look worse than from when you left, what is wrong now."

Spike hopped off of the stool that he used to access the mirror and onto the cold castle floor, "That was the first time I saw your body since you went missing the first time. Once back in his room and wrapped in a blanket spike pulled out a mirror that once belonged to Rarity, "Where are you really?"

Rarity appeared in the mirror, "I am still here Spike I need you to promise me something, though."

Spike looked into the mirror, "What is it Rarity?"

The Rarity in the mirror looked away for a second then back to Spike, "Can you find out the real reason I was killed, I honestly don't believe Trenderhoof killed me because of popularity or because of my store."

Spike looked seriously into the mirror at Rarity, "I promise that I will do this for you Rarity, I will not let anything stand in my way." Spike set the mirror down and climbed onto his bed. As he fell asleep a clear image of Rarity stood in his mind.

Spike stood up surrounded by darkness, after a while, he could see moonlight and stars and he could feel a gentle breeze. Even though what was in front of him was amazing he couldn't move, when he looked down there was a cast starting to surround his body. Spike started to scream for help when he could see a pony slowly making its way towards him. Spike gasped when he saw that it was the pony who murdered Rarity, Trenderhoof. The darkness faded into a dark alley way filled with tin garbage cans and small boxes that were littered onto the stained concrete. Spike could only watch in awe as two buildings now stood behind him and Trenderhoof.

Trenderhoof put on his most gleaming smile as he spoke, "I see that you got my letter Rarity."

Spike clenched his fist as he spoke seriously, "Why did you kill Rarity?" Even though spike said those words, the words that came out were different, "It's so nice to see you again Trenderhoof, what occasion is it that I get to see you again?"

Trenderhoof's face went sour in a split second, "Close down your shop."

Spike looked confused as he asked, "What do you mean my shop, I don't own a shop." Once again the words were replaced, "Why would you want me to close down my shop?"

Trenderhoof walked past spike as his blond hair swayed in the gentle movement of the wind, "I mean that exactly and if you don't you will regret it." Just as he past Spike the moon flew down from the sky were in hit the ground and split open revealing Princess Luna. The ground faded away as did everything else in view of Spike, soon nothing was left except Luna and Spike.

Luna floated over to spike who was starting to tear up, "I felt that something was bothering you earlier and I see now that this is a bigger problem than I thought."

Spike looked up at her in confusion, "What do you mean worse that you thought, what did you think?"

"Well I thought that you might be feeling sad, obviously, but I could sense that something was holding you back and it appears to be the image that you held of Rarity." Spike looked down at the ground and nodded. "Well then Spike I can help you do what you must do, tell me what it is your planning on doing."

Spike woke up tired and angry. He walked over to his closet and pulled out a backpack, then he started stuffing multiple things inside the bag such as food, water, a blanket, and a knife. The sun was still nowhere to be seen as Spike quietly moved to the entrance of the castle. Once outside he was greeted by a thick wall of gray fog, "I wish I was taller so I could see over this fog."

"No need Spike, I am here to help," Luna called out as she flew down from the sky.

"I need to get to the Canterlot Jail," Spike said as hopped onto Luna's back. Luna spread her wings again as she took off into the sky, once they were in the sky Spike notice that it was still night time and the stars were still shining brightly. Luna flew swiftly to Canterlot then to the jail. Luna started heading straight for the ground as Spike saw Rarity already waiting for him. Once on the ground guards immediately came to Luna's sides to escort them into the jail.

"So you woke me up in the middle of the night just so I can talk to a little dragon," Trenderhoof said tiredly. Luna watched his every move from the other side of a see-through glass window.

"Tell me exactly why you killed Rarity."

Trenderhoof shot him a small evil smile, "I will do better than that." "After I threatened Rarity I waited for the news that Rarity closed down her boutique but when it didn't come I wrote a letter to her."

To Rarity

I am so sorry that I threatened you I don't know what overcame me, jealousy, anger? Please forgive me for doing what I did, if you can ever forgive me can you meet me at the Coronel's Fancy Feast for dinner.

"After a nice dinner and a lot of wine we left the restaurant and started to walk down the street. It wasn't hard to notice that she was on a buzz so I took her into an alleyway. I started by throwing her face first at the wall then I proceeded to smash her neck into the ground with my back hooves. I gave her one last kick onto the side of her face before I left."

Spike jumped from his chair and landed a hard punch on Trenderhoof's snout. Luna's magic pulled him back down to his seat as Trenderhoof chuckled, "Torch must be really pr.."

Spike's face went from anger to surprise, "Ex-Lord Torch, did he set you up to this?" Trenderhoof looked away from Spike as if looking for a distraction.

Spike jumped down from the chair and walked over to the door where he was stopped, "Don't do this dragon, you can't do this."

The short preview description could use some editing/proofreading.

Why did you do what you do, why did you kill her. After her death a friend of her's goes on a mission to find out what lead to her death.

Why did you do what you did; why did you kill her? After her death, her friend (or "a friend of hers," but that's more verbose) goes on a mission to find out what led to her death.

7363555 Thank you... again! Do you proof read for books as well?

 You're welcome, friend. Truly, it's the least I could do.

I've never proofread for a commercially available book, no, but I do some editing on here sometimes. Mostly, it's just for friends on here who've approached me and asked for me to help out. Even during the summer, I have so little time to commit to other things that I don't join up with the editing groups on here and advertise myself as an editor because doing so will land me jobs, and at this point, I don't feel up to committing to projects without payment unless I would feel remiss for not embarking upon them. :twilightsheepish: I figure I shouldn't advertise if I'm not highly willing and able to provide to everyone, you know?

7363828 That is very understandable.

But in the case of short descriptions on here, I would feel rather guilty if I didn't speak up. So many people will simply overlook a story if the first thing they see is less than immaculate. It's unfair, but that's how it goes, so I like to do what I can to give people like you a fair chance, at least, at making a decent first impression.
