The Recovery

Twilight cradled Spike close to her body while sitting in his room on his bed as they both wept into each other's embrace, "Oh Spike I'm so sorry that this had to happen to you, I know how you felt for her."

Twilight wrapped her wings around spike as he continued to cry, "Why would any pony do such a thing to a different pony, I can't understand why it would have to happen to her."

Twilight slowly let go of Spike as she stepped down off of his bed, "Her funeral is in about twenty minutes, will you be able to come?"

Spike looked down at the multicoloured bed sheets as he shook his head, "I don't know if I will go its like she is still here, I don't want her to leave Twilight and I feel if I go she will leave forever."

Twilight looked back towards the door, "If you change your mind it is going to be held at her boutique here in town, make sure to wear your suit." Twilight left the room with tears running from her slightly bloodshot eyes, as the door shut Spike hopped down of his bed and onto the carpet below. He slowly approached a very unused closet full of different articles of clothing. Spike pulled down a small black suit with a white shirt and red tie. Stuck onto the inside of the closet was a small picture of Rarity and himself sitting together drinking tea, he stroked it as he closed the doors of the closet. He walked over to his bed where he placed the suit and then over to the window.

The clouds were gray and dark, letting in little streams of light, "Rainbow Dash must be at the funeral too, she hasn't cleared out the clouds." He looked into his own reflection's eyes as it slowly shifted into an image of Rarity. Spike looked up for a second with a smile but it quickly left his face, "You're not real, your not here and I yet I can't leave you."

The image of Rarity's face looked confused, "Spike are you alright, what is wrong?"

Spike looked at the Rarity in the reflection, "Rarity how are you talking, you are dead and not here."

The Rarity smiled, "Silly spike turn around." Spike slowly turned around to where he came face to face with a see through Rarity.

Spike fell backward into the window as he looked around for something to defend himself with, "A-a-are you a ghost."

Rarity looked at herself, at her hooves, at her mane, "I don't think so, why?"

Spike picked up a half eaten crystal and pointed the sharp edge at her, "I can see through you and your dead, you can't be here."

Rarity looked confused, "Would you like me to leave spiky wikey?"

Spike slowly lowered the crystal, "No you can stay just promise me one thing."

Rarity looked concerned as she quickly came to spike's side, "Anything, what is it?"

Spike looked up at Rarity with tears still in his eyes, "Promise me you won't leave me if I go to your funeral."

Rarity looked down at Spike with a comforting smile, "Oh Spike I would never leave and in fact, I'll come with you."

Spike looked out the window towards the boutique with a small smile, "Ok let me.." When he turned around again the Rarity was gone.

"Is there any pony else who wants to say anything before we finish," Celesta softly said.

A small voice came from behind, "I would." Every pony turned around and saw spike walking towards the casket. As Spike slowly walked down the aisle of ponies, wearing mostly black clothing, sitting in different seats he noticed that Rarity was standing behind the casket of her own body. Her face was shocked at what she saw. Twilight got up from her seat to walk with Spike as he passed her. Once at the casket he looked up at Twilight then Celestia then back down at Rarity's corpse, "I'm sorry that I wasn't here to listen to everypony else I got busy talking to you."

The Rarity looked down at Spike from the other side, "You do realise that they can't see me right?"

Spike looked at the Rartity, "I know that I just wanted to say that I'm going to miss you."

The Rarity looked past Spike and at everypony behind him that were starting to murmur, "Spike stop talking to me your making others think you're crazy."

Spkie looked up at the Rarity, "But you're here somehow even though they can't see you." The Rarity hit her head with a hoof.

Twilight looked down at Spike, "Are you feeling alright?"

Spike looked at Twilight and saw Rarity fade away again, "Yes I'm alright but like I said she is still here, at least to me." Twilight walked back to her seat where an empty spot next to her sat. Spike sat down and watched as the massive black rectangular box was lowered into the ground. As the casket faded from their eyesight the clouds began to release their contents onto the ground and everything present. Every pony began to get up and leave except for Rarity's Family, her best friends, and the princesses.

Luna took a step forward away from her sister, "I'm am deeply sorry for your loss if you are interested I can guide your dreams tonight and help with the sorrows that you are feeling." In almost unison everypony nodded at looked between each other to recognize their choices. Luna knelt down to Spike, "Are you sure that you don't want help." Spike nodded as he wiped a tear from his eye.

Help Me

Spike threw his rain-soaked suit into the bathtub as he looked into the mirror. Rarity looked at him from the mirror, "Spike you look worse than from when you left, what is wrong now."

Spike hopped off of the stool that he used to access the mirror and onto the cold castle floor, "That was the first time I saw your body since you went missing the first time. Once back in his room and wrapped in a blanket spike pulled out a mirror that once belonged to Rarity, "Where are you really?"

Rarity appeared in the mirror, "I am still here Spike I need you to promise me something, though."

Spike looked into the mirror, "What is it Rarity?"

The Rarity in the mirror looked away for a second then back to Spike, "Can you find out the real reason I was killed, I honestly don't believe Trenderhoof killed me because of popularity or because of my store."

Spike looked seriously into the mirror at Rarity, "I promise that I will do this for you Rarity, I will not let anything stand in my way." Spike set the mirror down and climbed onto his bed. As he fell asleep a clear image of Rarity stood in his mind.

Spike stood up surrounded by darkness, after a while, he could see moonlight and stars and he could feel a gentle breeze. Even though what was in front of him was amazing he couldn't move, when he looked down there was a cast starting to surround his body. Spike started to scream for help when he could see a pony slowly making its way towards him. Spike gasped when he saw that it was the pony who murdered Rarity, Trenderhoof. The darkness faded into a dark alley way filled with tin garbage cans and small boxes that were littered onto the stained concrete. Spike could only watch in awe as two buildings now stood behind him and Trenderhoof.

Trenderhoof put on his most gleaming smile as he spoke, "I see that you got my letter Rarity."

Spike clenched his fist as he spoke seriously, "Why did you kill Rarity?" Even though spike said those words, the words that came out were different, "It's so nice to see you again Trenderhoof, what occasion is it that I get to see you again?"

Trenderhoof's face went sour in a split second, "Close down your shop."

Spike looked confused as he asked, "What do you mean my shop, I don't own a shop." Once again the words were replaced, "Why would you want me to close down my shop?"

Trenderhoof walked past spike as his blond hair swayed in the gentle movement of the wind, "I mean that exactly and if you don't you will regret it." Just as he past Spike the moon flew down from the sky were in hit the ground and split open revealing Princess Luna. The ground faded away as did everything else in view of Spike, soon nothing was left except Luna and Spike.

Luna floated over to spike who was starting to tear up, "I felt that something was bothering you earlier and I see now that this is a bigger problem than I thought."

Spike looked up at her in confusion, "What do you mean worse that you thought, what did you think?"

"Well I thought that you might be feeling sad, obviously, but I could sense that something was holding you back and it appears to be the image that you held of Rarity." Spike looked down at the ground and nodded. "Well then Spike I can help you do what you must do, tell me what it is your planning on doing."

Spike woke up tired and angry. He walked over to his closet and pulled out a backpack, then he started stuffing multiple things inside the bag such as food, water, a blanket, and a knife. The sun was still nowhere to be seen as Spike quietly moved to the entrance of the castle. Once outside he was greeted by a thick wall of gray fog, "I wish I was taller so I could see over this fog."

"No need Spike, I am here to help," Luna called out as she flew down from the sky.

"I need to get to the Canterlot Jail," Spike said as hopped onto Luna's back. Luna spread her wings again as she took off into the sky, once they were in the sky Spike notice that it was still night time and the stars were still shining brightly. Luna flew swiftly to Canterlot then to the jail. Luna started heading straight for the ground as Spike saw Rarity already waiting for him. Once on the ground guards immediately came to Luna's sides to escort them into the jail.

"So you woke me up in the middle of the night just so I can talk to a little dragon," Trenderhoof said tiredly. Luna watched his every move from the other side of a see-through glass window.

"Tell me exactly why you killed Rarity."

Trenderhoof shot him a small evil smile, "I will do better than that." "After I threatened Rarity I waited for the news that Rarity closed down her boutique but when it didn't come I wrote a letter to her."

To Rarity

I am so sorry that I threatened you I don't know what overcame me, jealousy, anger? Please forgive me for doing what I did, if you can ever forgive me can you meet me at the Coronel's Fancy Feast for dinner.

"After a nice dinner and a lot of wine we left the restaurant and started to walk down the street. It wasn't hard to notice that she was on a buzz so I took her into an alleyway. I started by throwing her face first at the wall then I proceeded to smash her neck into the ground with my back hooves. I gave her one last kick onto the side of her face before I left."

Spike jumped from his chair and landed a hard punch on Trenderhoof's snout. Luna's magic pulled him back down to his seat as Trenderhoof chuckled, "Torch must be really pr.."

Spike's face went from anger to surprise, "Ex-Lord Torch, did he set you up to this?" Trenderhoof looked away from Spike as if looking for a distraction.

Spike jumped down from the chair and walked over to the door where he was stopped, "Don't do this dragon, you can't do this."
