Sorry, no can do.
7355197 Understandable, I might want to give it a try if you do.
7355202
I am legitimately pleasantly surprised that you said that
It's going to be a long time before I finish this story, though.
Now I'm fully caught up. I was busy the last few weeks and I missed your updates. Good thing though. I'm curious about what happens next...
And if anyone will notice Adagio with princess piss on her later
7355256 Oh yeah, I'm a huge Fallout fan, and I'd love to give this version of the crossover a shot.
Don't worry about it, I wouldn't want to write it without all the information.
With the total wipeout thats Adagio Ozymandias and her works, is this going to be a case where its a solution worth living for, or one like Stephen Baxter where because theres no nukes left, the large asteroid spotted half a centuary ago comes in with nothing t stop it?
Rocks fall, everyone dies?
By the throne... that was brutal!
Something tells me Sunset might as well be... thanks to the Canterlot Wasteland.
Yes let the darkness take hold. Sink further into MADNESSS Twilight
It's Finally Over, Twilight & Sunset have the Journal, Contact There Friends over on Equestria, Devise a plan to open the Bridge between Equestria & The Human World And Return Home with Sunset and Ending Her Journey...
NOT!
I Did not expected this would happen. Thanks to Adagio their only hope is now ruined thanks to her. The Last act of spite of a Vengeful Siren against the force of harmony for ruining what she desired. This Version of Adagio can rot in Hell.
Apologies Twilight and Sunset...As Much I Too wish to see the end of this Hellish Journey, But that would seem too easy and would end the story to soon. If You Were Thinking that Finally Acquiring the journal would mean returning home and ending your torment in the human-world is over, Twilight Sparkle...I'm Afraid that your Torment is just Beginning...
One Threat Removed, But Who else will appear and ruin Twilight's Quest to return home?
But That Doesn't Mean It's Over and that your stranded in the human-world forever, There is always another way...
I Look Forward to see What Both Twilight & Sunset Will Do Now and What Will Await Them in their Journey. Will They Finds Remnants of People who were their Friends Dead or Changed?, What has happened to Twilight & Sunset's Last Three Friends? What Fate Befell upon the Human-Twi? And Will Both Twilight And Sunset Finally Return Home or Are They Trapped in a Ruined World Forever?
I will make you a believer yet, mark my words.
I do admit, I'm a little surprised to see Adagio taken out so soon, but at the same time you did give her a good build up and execution so I have no real complaints! It was a good arc of her story and boy did the girls kill a LOT of people during all of it hehe
Twisted, crude, and vile, the Adagio way. I'm curious as to what your plans for Sonata will be, but I'm sure we'll find out eventually. Right now it's time for our girls to regroup and recover. Magic still exists in the world so while the book may have run out of magic, something tells me we haven't seen the last of it's usefulness quite yet, especially with Twilight unable to write on the pages.
Excellent work man, you really pumped these out and the quality didn't suffer for it, your muse was definitely on fire and if you wanted to give them a short rest I doubt any of us could really complain. And as always, I'm looking forward to the next adventure!
That's the normal time for any writers and editors to be still awake... well, mostly.
DIE YOU DAMN EVIL and DEPRAVED (albeit hot ) BITCH
7355272
Thanks It was Spike who pissed on Adagio, though.
7355277
At least until I give more background information on the world.
7355330
Not that drastic, I assure you.
7355337
Khorne: THIS PLEASES ME!
7355372
Please don't open that can of worms.
7355411
7355423
Just as planned!
Not quite. The journal lost its interdimensional messaging capacity when the sirens' gems were fused on it. This irreversibly changed its magic properties, making it a conduit of dark magic.
Had things gone according to plan, it wouldn't have meant the end automatically, but at least Twilight could have sent a message on the situation and ask for help with fixing the portal. But now... she can't do that. And yes... there is more pain, blood and tears coming her way.
That's spoilers! Not telling you
Finding it is going to be a b***h, though.
The story will answer all these questions in due time. Have patience
7355676
Nope!
Khorne demanded blood and skulls!
img10.deviantart.net/a4ae/i/2012/221/9/c/pinkie_pie_the_champion_of_khorne_by_banblade-d56v0wf.png
Thanks! I will see what happens.
7355696
I am a guy who likes sleeping for 8-10 hours straight and hates getting up early, so yeah, for me it's not.
7355988
She died already, chillax.
7356470 Don't worry about it, I figured it wouldn't be until after it was finished, I just thought I'd ask.
Sugarcoat is dead? Noooooo.
...does this mean Sugarcoat is... Dead? Also, what's next, finding out there's a Tree of Harmony that somehow survived the chaos?
7356627
Time will tell. Or will it?
Ha-ha, no, definitely not that; good idea, though
7356470
Oh, you not alone man, been trying sleep deprivation since last year cuz I sleep too much they say. I am known for being able to sleep at any given moment. be it really hot, cold, noisy and even when riding a car in a bumpy road.
And waking up early or mornings is not something I like either, that's why I wub Sunset shimmer and the Vinyl scratch. A night pony, a name opposite of sunrise and also my user "Dream dusk"
7356470 ANYONE WHO SEXUALLY ABUSES A GOOD PERSON DON'T DESERVE ANY MERCY
7356839
Heh-heh, no, they don't.
7356533 Actually Fallout's "OH GOD WATER IS IRRADIATED POISON" is unscientific bullshit. Certain compounds in water might become irradiated but that's only for bodies of water. Evaporated water is only as dangerous as the medium of the dust that causes the droplets to condense and fall as rain, and individually those wouldn't really carry THAT much radiation at a time (though it would still probably be a cancer risk over... a few decades). The reason for this is that there aren't very many radioactive isotopes of hydrogen or oxygen, and even those that are aren't especially radioactive. Deuterium (when hydrogen captures an extra neutron) is an isotope, and slightly poisonous, chemicly speaking, but it's "stable", which means it isn't radioactive by itself. Protium is the other stable isotope of hydrogen,
Fallout's radioactive water is a plot device. That said, a 'water chip' and water filtration would still be important to exchange the deuterium atoms with hydrogen atoms since there's no way to tell just looking at some water if it has dangerous levels of D20 or not. However, drinking trace amounts, or even low amounts of D20 has no significant health risks, especially if it only happens rarely or occasionally.
So to summarize, no, irradiated rain wouldn't kill crops. Heavy water rain MIGHT, but this all depends on how much water was actually converted into D20 when the bombs dropped. I don't think you're gonna get much more conversion after the fact outside of localized incidents. It really depends on where the fallout fell in the first few days after the bombs dropped, and a lot of other things. What's more, deuterium, D20, etc. is denser than H20. It will sink to the bottom of a pool of still water, while pure water will rise to the top, if it's allowed to stagnate long enough. (it won't separate like oil and water but there'll be vastly different concentrations).
Tritium is the only radioactive isotope of hydrogen I know of, and it is rarely produced compared to the other two. It has a half-life of only 12 years, and decays into Helium-3, which is stable. The energy released by tritium decay is also very low, which means it isn't all that dangerous (comparatively speaking).
7356839 But its ok if they are a bad person?
No level ups for the other gals? They're definitely followers then.
7357277 Guess that I've DERPED here
7356958
Thanks for the info on deuterium and tritium; while I do know of their existence, some things were rather interesting and unfamiliar to me.
But it's not radioactive isotopes of hydrogen and oxygen that would pose danger. Heck, as far as I remember, there is 0,015% of D20 in one liter of water and we're fine with that. Said one liter could get us as much energy as 300 liters of petrol, if I am not mistaken - provided we could actually make an economically positive energy yield of tokamaks. It's other isotopes that can get mixed with soil, air and water that make the situation pretty bad - most well-known are cesium-137 and stroncium-90. They don't "kill" crops per se, it was a poor choice of words on my part, but if you have a rain with cesium-137/stroncium-90 in it above the field, the crops are as good as dead - eating them is bad for health. Plus, TODC bombarded few areas with salted bombs that would give away more of cesium-137/stroncium-90/other radioactive shit, as a final "fuck you" to the UFE. While the government of UFE did develop a way to counter that tactic in case their defense system could not intercept those salted bombs, and it was deployed, it could not clean the area 100% - there are still radiation pockets - and the deployment of said system still happened after irradiated rains which killed some more survivors had happened.
Damn you, Adagio! Why didn't you just die instead of causing more pain?
Glad to see that the fish-b***h had what she deserved, but I can't even imagine what poor Twilight and Spike are feeling now.
Well, let's hope this world has its own version of the Institute, or the Big MT, or the Enclave, with some kind of experimental extradimensional portal.

Eeyup
7357627
Because simply having an antagonist die is BORING.
Who said "experimental extradimensional portal"? There is no such thing as an "experimental extradimensional portal", bro. Totally not.
Enclave being benevolent to a "mutie"? Oxymoron, bro
Like your thought, though.
7357669
Not if you describe her death in very vivid and gruesome way
If she says "experimental extradimensional portal" five times quickly without stutter while clicking her heels... she will just make a fool of herself. I guess that Twily will have to get used to the flavor of Radroach casserole, uh?
7357655 A Faraday Cage is actually universally effective against an EMP. It's why EMP-generating weapons aren't used more. The only thing they don't protect against (the cages that is) is a power surge, and that can be guarded against simply by having the machine OFF, or a surge protector, or other circuit breakers designed with this in mind. What's more, an EMP won't necessarily destroy most electronics, just the software on them. Things that aren't actually connected to a power source stand an even higher chance of surviving even unprotected to the point where it will function. So cell phones, power tools, desktop computers that aren't Robco monoblocks... These are all things that could actually still work after a high altitude EMP, and WILL still work if protected with a Faraday cage. Since they are universally effective, all of the relevant information would still be recoverable as long as the physical machine wasn't destroyed.
That said, not all Faraday cages are equal, and an improperly made / insulated one might or might not provide adequate protection. The kind used to protect military hardware, or the kind that particularly paranoid civilian companies or just survivalists use, however, will work. The 'metal mesh' style cage may or may not work, but a solid steel one will.
As far as the other isotopes, being the cause of the problem that is indeed possible, but again that's just the titular fallout. Where it settles is where it stays, there won't be much sending it back up into the atmosphere once it settles dust storms aside, making the water cycle an effective filter, as far as radiation goes. And Deuterium can actually (as far as the Internet reports) account for up to 25% of the water in your body before ill health effects are observed, and it doesn't become lethal until you approach 75%. Estimates state an average adult male could consume something like 4.8 litres of pure D20 without ill effect at a time... provided they do get pure water and don't let it build up past that 25% threshold. So yes, they could make radiation pockets nastier, last longer, and arrange for more fallout, but atmospheric conditions will still allow clean areas, and the water table will ensure these clean areas will receive less and less 'dangerous' water as time goes on. But again I don't actually know how much water would be converted to D20 in that time frame.
As for life-necessary tech, I don't know about Russia but in the States, learning how certain machines work is part of required public education. Generators especially. Most computer science courses will also discuss how a circuit board works, and there's even 'toys' you can buy that are basically 'wire your own computer' kits with a 'meager' few bytes or even kilobytes of memory. Sure, you might not be able to reproduce futuristic stuff, but you could recreate useful and functional technology, including the necessities to make a factory work again, depending on what it produced, even without being the kind of scientist pushing a war effort.
By the way, I am enjoying the story, even if I do take issue with the setting, which admittedly is ported fairly well to Equestria Girls, even if certain things just... don't make sense to me really.
7358625
That's a lot of information. Thanks
I concede on that. There is a rule in Russian anti-air force that radars must be shut down when there's a thunderstorm - working on radar station in such weather is mortal danger.
What if it destroys even BIOS? Wouldn't that render the electronics useless? Of course, a competent enough engineer should be able to rewrite it...
Possible. As I said, I am no military expert. But as far as I know, even if cell phones survive the EMP, mobile networks will be shut down in the event of nuclear attack, or at least that's what I have heard.
Well, it's same here. But some things may have their own unique little things not known to a larger audience. Having a general understanding of how a nuclear reactor works from my school physics course (my higher education deals with computational linguistics) isn't likely to make me know how to operate a nuclear reactor - at least, without a manual. This line of thought is applied here to the technology that requires special knowledge to operate, military tech, or was a government secret.
Common enough technology can be recreated by not-that-advanced in science people with some mad skillz, I concede that.
Not having a degree in IT, can't say what our computer science courses have, although I presume they do so as well. But the toys you mentioned... I did not see them in kids' stores, alas. They aren't imported, apparently. Been a long time since I was last in a kids' shop, however... in case you ask, no, I wasn't there to buy myself MLP merchandise. I haven't gone that far yet...
I'm glad that you're enjoying it do you mean you have an issue with Fallout setting? Why?
Also, what things don't make sense? Please tell. I might have put them in spoiler territory, but there's something that might not be there and I want to rectify that, if possible.
7359283 Well when I say things 'don't make sense' I meant from the fallout setting ported to the MLP universe. The Brotherhood of Steel remains such an example.
The computer things aren't exactly children's toys. It's the kind of thing you can get from specialty shops or geek-stores online, stuff like that. They aren't y'know, sautered circuits, more cords and plugs, like a circuit board in a larger scale. I can't remember what they're called or I'd link one.
As far as BIOS goes... Well a BIOS is firmware for 'higher' electronics like cell phones (which can be bootlegged / jailbroken / hacked to use networks they aren't supposed to, and a pirate network isn't exactly impossible...) but simpler electronics like power tools (drills, jackhammers, rotary saws, arc welders) would work just fine. Similarly, walkie-talkies, hand radios, etc. would all work. Hell, a factory that isn't strictly computer controlled and functions mostly through motors or such like that would work right on through the EMP as long as the power was steady. (Textiles come to mind. Maybe not the sort that produce slogan T-shirts, but something producing bolts of denim or cloth? They'd PROBABLY work, though you might have to finagle things, and supplying the machines and maintaining them would be harder).
So if magic works on this side of the portal as it were, and both Sunset and Twilight still have magic, I really hope that they at least TRY to figure out how they could channel it. Y'know instead of just assuming "Oh I'm a human and humans can't do magic" when they watched a human Adiago do exactly that.
7361643
How come? Did I commit a faux pas with that one?
I Understand.
Let the Journey through the Wasteland Continue...View the Ruined World of Depravity & Despair and pray to whatever god that exist, Twilight and Sunset are gonna need it to make it out alive.
maybe Twilght can give it a little bit of a jolt with her manic blood so it gathers enough charge to send at least a few in between a unspecified time period to next caharge
7365950
The journey will go on.
7368017
Not saying anything right now on that.
I have really liked this story so far very well written. Just one thing that bothers me through out it. It is that you use clip instead of magazine!
But otherwise a good read and more than worth the burst blood vessel in my head. Write on!
7369783
I am glad that you find my story good enough
Oh goddamnit, where did I slip up again with that clip vs. magazine mess...
Sadly predictable that the journal wouldn't do any good. Otherwise the story would end before we encountered everyone else. Admittedly, the last few chapters have been pretty depressing.
Ya know, when I first started reading this, I had a few... Issues, if you will, but I liked the concept enough to keep going. As I continued, it seemed that you either got better with writing, or I just got more accustomed to the writing style (I'm going to assume a bit of both). Anyway, Here's a "thumbs up" and a "Favorite" and I'm looking forward to the next chapter.
7373337
Not necessarily. Magic journal, had it worked, would not have insta-fixed everything. There would have still been some time spent in the Wastelands, enough to meet everyone else.
No ups without downs. This is crossover with Fallout, after all.
7373727
Thanks! I am glad you deemed the story worthy of it
7373891 Perhaps, but between the two personal students of Celestia? And access to a means of communication to the still extant portal on the far end? Then it's merely a chapter worth of locating a large enough mirror. Or backtracking to Twilight's point of entry to find where the other end of the portal has wandered off to.
True enough, but even in it's darkest parts, Fallout gives some hope for success. These past few have been Arcade Gannon levels of depressing. IE: Nothing you do matters because it's all going to end up badly anyway.
So... You never listed Rarity's SPECIAL. Couldn't think up a viable stat distribution without going over what the game allows? Hehe.
I died whenever twilight or sunset said fish-cunt.
7376122
Rarity's S.P.E.C.I.A.L. is listed at the end of Chapter 22:
I forgot to put it after Chapter 21, so I did it in Chapter 22.
7376155
I tried to be creative
7376222
Hmmm, yeah, probably it qualifies for this trope...
7374456
Have you READ Fallout: Equestria? (Which I'm assuming is a MAJOR inspiration for this)
The feeling of hopelessness in this story has yet to reach anywhere near the levels of that one.
Now, when Twilight gets enslaved, A.J. gets beheaded and Sunset succumbs to killing joke, while 2 or 3 armies are hunting them (not including your raider factions), THEN we can talk about depressing. Unless we take Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons into account, that stuff was brutal. I for one still consider this story a bit light-hearted for a Fallout crossover. Not that that's a bad thing, mind you. Just took some getting used to.
7376716
Yes, Fallout: Equestria is a major inspiration behind this story.
Truth be told, I did not gauge hopelessness levels of Fallout: Equestria as that big, but my memory could have failed me.
I did not want to delve into extreme grimdarkness and horror from the start (IMNSHO, Twilight would have offed herself if this were the case). Plus, I had some... apprehension when it came to doing something horrific to the characters.
But rest assured: I might not have concrete ideas as of yet, but characters will envy the dead at some point in the future.
Reference to the death of SteelHooves AKA Applesnack? No, too unoriginal for me. Why kill when there are fates worse than death?
In retrospect, true. As I said, I didn't want to drop everything at once on heroines' heads. But I have evil plans...
