Oh god, now she's losing her memory?
Good job murdering a baby, Celestia. Imagine the identity crisis Shendu will have when all the memories slip away entirely.
So, who want's to bet we get a Shendu/Sombra hybrid?
An excellent chapter that explored the perspectives of the other characters in the story, however, I feel that you are jumping around too often, the story would be better in my opinion if you limited the perspective shifts or made the perspectives even more detailed, that would of course make the chapter longer, but if you want to jump around a lot, I feel that you should make it more meaningful.
6804179 Noted. I will definitely take that into consideration for the next one. Thank you.

I willing to bet that Shendu is gonna get absolutely mutilated (but not vaporized) by the crystal heart when it goes off.
Only thing that could save her is if the transformation is more complete by the time they reach the city.
Will the mane six and/or the princesses be badass in this story?
Better?
BETTER?!
YOU XENOPHOBIC PIECE OF SHIT, HOW DARE YOU?!
I DON'T GIVE A DAMN WHO IT IS, MONSTER OR NOT, YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO JUST... DECIDE IF A PERSON CAN KEEP THEIR MEMORIES!!!
My God, these ponies are monsters!! They have committed one of the most heinous crimes any sapient creature can commit.
They took another's identity.
Not their credit info, but the very founding qualities of what makes a thinking creature a thinking creature.
God, I've always wanted to go to Gaia, but holy shit on a stick...
I am seriously questioning whether or not I want to go, if this is what I will find.
6804316 You know, she could be thrown out while distrupting the change process...
6804411 I would say but...you know....spoilers.
6804121
This doesn't have nearly the impact you think it would considering the "baby" Celestia "murdered" devoured an entire town because natural instincts told her she was hungry and then would've aged and become a true monster that would've been something truly evil.
6804625 Amen to that.
6805231 You make a good point and all but I simply failed to explain my distaste properly. I'm on a mobile device so I don't leave long comments but...
6804625
...fucking this right here sums my thoughts about the whole situation since the transformation happened, thanks Slending Angel.
If i remember right Celestia did this because she figured that it was better than killing a few-days old monster, but apparently she doesn't actually know how the fuck the spell works beyond turning those "monsters" into superior ponies who can be "redeemed" nevermind that in this case we know that Shendu's soul was altered and she's losing her memories.
So apparently to Celestia and the ponies, all that defines an individual is a body, and you can freely fuck with their mind because "it's for their own/the greater good" and if what comes out the other side is ignorant of what happened then that's fine too.
Except it's not. There may have been no bloodshed (other than the arm) but celestia ordered the murder of a sapient creature, and seemed to me to both hold her method as superior to Wrath's plan of "kill her" as well as imply a similar fate for Wrath, which he noticed as well iirc.
So to recap, killing a baby monster is wrong but erasing its memory and altering its very soul is a-ok, just as long as the body is still fine.
And then Twilight's little shitshow this chapter, I wanted to reach into the story and throttle her. These ponies disgust me.

:YAY
oh i mean t-thank you

Shendu is, or rather was a Maiden.
Wrath practically laid it down for Luna how Maidens are practically a blight against sapient species. Full grown ones at least.
Shendu is a child. A full sapient child. One that devoured a town not for any evil intent but because natural child instincts telling it "pain in stomach means get food".
Now if people put down the Celestia hate boners for a second was there ever a chance Celestia was going to win with you in this situation? Seeing some of these comments, answers are no.
Celestia doesn't want to kill a fully sapient child that follows its natural instinct before it had time to develop a real sense of right and wrong like everyone else and rather choose to preserve life by changing a future horrible being into something that can fit into society and everyone complained about it. Several chapters ago (chapter 15) people were complaining that Shendu would have to live with the memories.
Now we have Shendu losing those memories. Sounds like that problem is gone right? Nope. People are now complaining about her losing those memories. Huh?
6805738 how easily people forget,
ones strength determines ones fate, so the second Shendu lost and was unable to escape she lost any and all rights to anything including her body and soul.
6805235 Damn straight.
6805738 It is, quite frankly, bullshit. If that's Equestria...
Not too sure my dream wasn't just crushed.
6805880 Sumed up my fucking though.
People just keep whining like there is no tomorrow and you can never please anyone.
Especially with Celestia and a certain weird hatred for her in general in this fandom...What the fuck? Where are all the love and tolerance shits?
Stop whining and read the story. Or...stop entirely if it is not your thing you *the following words are too vulgar to be shown to a bunch of children*
*you're an Alicorn
Also the comma should be after Alicorn, not "but".
6810193 Thanks.
6833863 lol. Ill edit that when i get home. Glad you are enjoying it.
6868693 no, Shindu when it was a murderous monster was running on their instinct of hunger, to feed it's body. it didn't know good from evil, was it should eat and shouldn't, Shindu was born with a massive urge to feed and it ate everthing it could. but when celestia turn shindu into a pony it changed shindu from a monster controlled by instinctual hunger, to a being could actually think before they act.
I wonder how Celestia will react once the spell's true effects come to light.
6899376 What do you think "Malevolence" MEANS?
malevolent
[muh-lev-uh-luh nt]
adjective
1.
wishing evil or harm to another or others; showing ill will; ill-disposed; malicious:
His failures made him malevolent toward those who were successful.
2.
evil; harmful; injurious:
a malevolent inclination to destroy the happiness of others.
3.
Astrology. evil or malign in influence.
He stated the thing was empowered by Malevolence. Not that it was aggressive, or predatorial, which is a morally neutral attribute--- that it was Malevolent, empowered by dark, Malevolent magic. innately inclined to destroy others.
If that was not what he meant, that is a word he should not have used.
6868657 Do you hate how the author isn't responding to your comments?
god it must suck being ponies under celestia's rule. she don't give two shits about them in this story
for some reason i have an idea shendu whuld some how acsedently become an alicorn and it amuses me
6982737 It will if I cut her open first.
So this same thing is happening to Spike with the soul transformation thing, is that ever going to be addressed?
7055103 I created it
6999739 Yes. It will be addressed. But don't confuse spike's... Issue, with the spell cast on shendu. They are very different.

Sorry I have been taking my time to respond to this, I have been through hell. But I'm back now, kind of, and I feel like addressing this.
A species such as a pony have the lighter magics, I would name then and describe them but this is from my phone and all my data for Wrath is on my laptop. Simply put, the magics are the blocks that build the soul, but the scale is more like an atom than a lego. Most every creature has at least some of every magic, it's just that creatures such as a maiden have souls comprised primarily of 'malevolence'. Which is just what it is referred to by Wrath. Wrath can only know what his senses tell him, and he only has one sense that shows him the soul, his meditative state. But that is not enough to get a full picture. Imagine you are blind, and every day when you awake you hear a noise that sounds pleasant, you hear this noise every morning for weeks, it's nice to hear, but one day you get curious and ask someone what the noise is, and they tell you it is, in reality, something horrific or morbid. You could never have known with the one sense you detected it with. Wrath' society was a tribal one, they were warrior based and somewhat superstitious so they came up with these base names for the magics. Now at a point later in the story a character with actual knowledge of the makeup of a soul will appear. Things will become clearer then. I do hope that clears up at least that issue.
I'm out of chapters... in another story. I am waiting for approximately 41 stories to update, most of which haven't done so in more than two months... Damn it. Welp, time to add more to that list.
7097196 I share in your agony.
7097199 Someone needs to start a modern polytheistic religion, either real or as a joke, and in that religion there needs to be an evil god who lords over writers' block... I could spend a few days making this up.
7097987 Hah, sounds almost like something discord would do.
7098582 Sshhh, he doesn't know about me.
