This story is a sequel to Ponies Protecting Ponies
We are Ponies Protecting Ponies, a secret organization founded by Princess Celestia for the good of all of Equestria's citizens. Whether it's running protection, disaster prevention, or a terrorist threat, one of our agents is on hoof. We do what we must to give our friends and family their peace of mind. We blend into the background, just like any other pony. Watching. Protecting.
Watching Ponyville and guarding Twilight Sparkle from harm has not been easy, but the town's PPP agents have done their duty admirably. When Sparkle departs for the annual Grand Galloping Gala, some of Ponyville's agents follow suit to find that all is not well at the social event. Murmurings of a heretical sect reach the keen ears of our agents, and an investigation is held post-haste. Let it be known that our organization does not believe in any "Spirit of Chaos". Not officially. True or not, possible terrorist activity does demand a response.

Is reading the previous story necessary to understand this one?
7858342 Not necessary, I don't think, but I would recommend it! The prologue and first chapter are built in a way to get readers reacquainted with the characters and events from the first story, and should help serve to keep new readers in-the-know as well. That said, there are some plot threads that started in the first story that get fleshed out here, so familiarity with them beforehand could make some reveals more enjoyable!
So Lyra asked Celestia to erase her memories is what I'm getting but the triggers are messing with her mind. Also its kind of true in a sense. In this story Twilight is merely a puppet and nothing more.
Still I do like this story with how much intrigue its building. I'm hoping Doctor Hooves is going to ok.
I liked it. I didn't know how this was going to resolve after all the lies came out but it seems things are better now. Now comes the bigger things in this world. There's still the Canterlot Wedding, The Crystal Empire, Magical Mystery Cure, Princess Twilight Sparkle, Twilight's Kingdom, Cutie Map, Cutie Remark, The Crystalling, and To Where and Back Again.
I'm really interested in how the PPP would handle that now that the organization is back together again.
A satisfying conclusion. Definitely hope to see more of these, I really do. You've got what could well be a top-notch series here.
I hope you submit this one to EQD, because that's how I found the first one myself. This needs more eyes on it.

I will say that I do have plans for the future of the series. Plans that hopefully don't take two years! I plan on making a blog post regarding that in the coming weeks, so be on the lookout for it!
And, LordGraygem, I've spoken with EQD, and they feel this story is too tied to the original to garner its own individual post. But you can look for it in a future Updated Stories post!

I think there are a lot of very fun possibilities with this AU. First off, now that Twilight is the one the Ponyville PPP answers to, will her friends end up involved? I don't know if it would be to all their tastes, but Rainbow and Pinkie would likely get a kick out of it. Pinkie might get along a little too well with Hooves, actually...
Seriously though, I read the first one years ago, only got around to reading this sequel now. It was a fun world to revisit.

I do have a partial outline for the next story, taking place during the wedding in season two. I'm still figuring out a few plot points though, and I won't force the story until I have something I'm really happy with.
