It is the height of summer, with the last days before the harvest season dawning. And a duty Big Mac dreads has come upon him. Today is the day he must walk the Orchard alone, and bring death to the old, the weak and the sick.

5145869 I would like to defend it as Mac feels like it's murder but clearly from some conversations I've had with others I didn't fully and properly characterize the issues at hand. Maybe after another rewrite in the morning after work I will be able to say I've better stated the tale.
5145869 To the Apples all their trees are as part of the family. They care for the trees and when one is dying, I guess it must be removed so it doesn't hurt the other trees around it. It's almost like killing a family member. At least, that's how I see it.

Forgive me, but...I don't quite understand exactly what's happening here.
5293701 Big mac is doing his annual duty, removing the dead or dieing trees. But he is feeling a lot of guilt since the trees are the Apple's legacy so to speak. So he is feeling remorse and guilt for the 'act' of murder.
