Well, it is a burden to have the answers and not be able to reveal them. In order for things to happen the way that we know the show, we have to keep that a secret.
I think that it was a both good, and bad thing that you sealed his memories. Good because he can't deal with the burden and he won't accidentally reveal his secrets. Bad because his memories are a part of who he is.
If you seal his memories, sure, you can give them back to him later. But he isn't the same person, or in this case, pony, that he is. Having the answers isn't a bad thing, as long as you use what you have for the right purpose.
4527294 Well not ALL of his memories were sealed, just his knowledge of the story's future, which duzent entirely apply since it's changed and is still changing
This is truly a tough one. Knowledge is indeed power but ignorance can be bliss. I thought he was doing good with the knowledge. Through the episodes I noticed he would sometimes give little nudges in the right directions but never did he outright give the answers. It questions for example whether or not he would have had all that confidence in Fluttershy during Dragonshy had he not already known she would deal with the dragon. This very situation can eat you alive as it started doing to Midnight. Hard to say ,if in his horsehoes, I would want my memories sealed or not. Also wonder what those terms were that would be the reason to undo the seal. So much to think about this is really good stuff! Reading on.
thinjk this is a bad mood. look at what he has already done so far. and has nudged them in the right direction. He can BE the Element of Faith becomes he knows they can do from the knowledge he possecess. This is just a bad move over all
This makes that story 10 times better. I think future knowledge makes him a little Gary Stu, thank you

well, this getting really interesting ....
A good judgement call save for two particular events that come to mind, one more than the other, though: The Changeling invasion, and Tirek's actions, in that order due to the fact that no REAL lessons were learned during the Changeling invasion on part of the ponies (not really, since not listening to those you've known and trusted for quite some time and making the same stupid mistakes over and over seems to be a running theme in the show.) and Tirek was beaten in the end anyway. Given that this world deviates from the canon-verse from time to time citizens might actually die in those events.
5234067 Well, remember. Midnight gave Celestia a list of events for which, should they happen despite the changes, he would want her to temporarily undo the memory seal. I can only assume that things like the Changelings and Tirek are on that list.
That said, the whole memory seal thing kinda puts me off a little. To me, him having this knowledge was a very interesting part of the story. Though I have to wonder. Does this mean he forgot everything about the show from his world completely, or is it simply that he cannot remember portions of it until they happen?
I would have had the memories reappear as they has happen I.e once the successful fashion show in "Suited for Success" happens remember how the canon events in the show played out
Well..... that killed any ideas of epic-ness I thought of last comment. I guess read before you type. Still, I love what you've done with the story so far, and look forward to reading more.
Also, he never did tell Celestia about killing parasprites. Still want to see if that plays into anything.
Well he shot himself in the foot there.
I mean if he wants to protect his friends and more specifically his little brother he would keep his memories even if the burden is hard to carry.
Some events might happen the way they would happen before, regardless ,take for example the parasprite situation, if he were to help pinkie gather the instruments and play the band she would have done so sooner and the rest of the town would be saved and the next city wouldn't have a parasprite problem meaning that the princess would stay there and he would be able to talk to her as he wanted and even possibly he wouldn't need to actually kill a parasprite to protect his little brother, thus Twilight learns the lesson, and he gets to use his knowledge.
Knowledge in itself isn't useful but the way he applies it, is.
Another problem is that if he doesn't have the memory, he doesn't know how things should happen and if his objective is to make the story run as it should then he should keep them not seal them, especially if his very presence altered how things should be.
Though I do see the reasoning behind his decision, it makes him more close to the average Joe as in the average person would take the easy way out and seal the memories.
Story-wise it humanizes the character and makes him less of a gary-stu, but part of the fun about these kinds of stories is what the protagonist decides to do with the memories.
i'd rather keep the memories, and just manipulate the characters into learning the lesson in a different way.
then again, i am a narcissistic, sociopathic bastard

Aren't we all?
Ok, at this point I really hope that hitting him with a dumb stick cease. He don't "know" future anymore, so he can't ensure certain dumb outcome and will be adequately dumb as any other normal person.
Well, while I see a problem concerning how might only be the element of faith because of his knowledge, the seal also allows him to act according to his personality and not his promise.
But you already did, a few chapters ago when you met Twinken.
That seal is going to backfire. Plus there's the fact that he asked if the seal can be removed, to which celestia said yes. But here's the thing here, how can you remove something that you don't even know exists? This is gonna cause problems, especially since this world is different. Things like the changelings, tirek, sombra. Events in where, since this universe is already wholly different ponies could he seriously harmed, and even killed, and he has the knowledge to help prevent, or even lessen the harm caused and possible loss of life...... hmmmmm.....
This is a very interesting plot twist: MC has foreknowledge and uses it to establish himself but then loses it. This may guarantee the timeline spinning out of control or stabilizing. I don’t see a middle ground happening.
