so wait when Twilight said 'I intended to make sure my dragon gets the PERFECT herd', does that mean she's okay with Spike sleeping with the Mane 6 (minus Rarity)?
Oddly enough, Rarity strikes me as just the kind of gal who gets a little too caught up in corny romance novels.
Harlequin romance novels are hilarious, I was with some friends at a used book store and for shits and giggles, I started reading one out loud...it ended up being about a woman getting nailed in a pumpkin patch.
As for this chapter, all I can say is good for Twilight. She's keeping it real and proving why she's a princess of friendship and the Reading Rainbow.
Well, now Rarity knows that Spike and Twilight are having sex and he is going to be having more sex with her and with others that Twilight approves...and Rarity isn't one of them. I hope Rarity realizes NOW that she lost her 'Spikey-Wikey', that it's her own damn fault, and she won't get him back. However, I also believe because of this one of two things will eventually happen (if not both): One, she becomes depressed to the point that she doesn't leave her shop nor except any new orders and just stays locked in her room. Two, she can't take being around Spike and his harem, so she packs up and leaves Ponyville. In any case, I don't want Rarity joining the herd/harem, in any way. She lost him, now let her live with the consequences.
I would love that too....but I have a feeling that the pony that would crash the party is Rarity. She already agitated as it is, and she know Spike will be at Twilight's house---it's his home too. She's definitely coming back to the library to talk with Twilight more, after all I have to believe that Twilight is Rarity's best friend. Only have Twilight come to the door in a robe, preferably nude under the robe, and then have Spike come to the door in just some shorts one, and his chest bare to the world. The universal scene for "we slept together last night"
Either great minds think alike, or I saw this from a mile away. Even better I saw this from last week!!
You're welcome, BTW. I'm really honored and happy that you are one of the authors who notices something that is too good not to pass up.
I'm genuinely surprised that Twilight is already gung-ho about getting her dragon---that's right HER DRAGON---more mates. She just became one of Spike's lovers just last night. Seems once she had her first taste of Spike, Twilight didn't want to have her others friends be left out of the bonanza that is currently a handsome unclaimed (not for long ) single dragon. I have to think also that Rarity has a lot to do to be redeemed in Spike's eyes, and more importantly, in Twilight's eyes.
4483833 Yeah, but it is Twilight's personality to make sure at least most of her friends are happy. Hooking Spike up with them is basically killing two birds with one stone. I dought Rarity will take this well. I foresee a lot of denial and or scheming in the future. And it would be interesting to see some of the other Six putting the moves on Spike since he is free.
Is it wrong for to have a massive grin while Twilight tears into Rarity?
4483450 i think she know alicorn or not ones Spike gets going he is going to need a lot more then then just 3 mares to keep up with him in the bedroom and live to tell the tale
Not at all! I'd be a little unsettled if you didn't.
As a matter of fact, I would be freaking out if after all that happened over the past 24 hours, Twilight and others started giving Rarity the silent treatment. Though it may be a little late in Twi's case.
4484038 I kind of dought that unless Rarity really pushes it. Though considering her personality that is a strong possiblity. Though while I'm enjoying Rarity being taken down a few pegs I do wonder when she'll understand just what Spike had put up with and what broke the dragon's back?
Rarity's resilient, that is a huge plus for her at least. I think she will realize what she was doing in relation to Spike, and she will promptly start work on rebuilding those ties with Spike at least again, much less the others. It's not like the bridge is completely destroyed, but at the moment that bridge is severely damaged because it's neglected in and because the bridge is made of cedar, it's burning bright, very hot, and Fire Chief Rarity is currently ill-equipped to fight, contain, extinguish, and repair, all at once. Not to mention she may have accidentally began burning another bridge with Twilight.
Definitely has a lot of work to do, and all w/o setting any more fires accidentally....
Very much would enjoy dash or flutters to be his next gal or even one of the crusaders ab would be my first choice so that could lead into aj gettin some thoughts
4485029 Now now don't give up too much of what we have planned for the readers. I am happy the blow up everyone likes the way that played out though lol.
4484123 4484184 First, Rarity has to realize what she did to drive Spike away. I honestly believe that Rarity isn't going to realize what she did until someone lays it all out in front of her. And that someone has to be Spike, Twilight or Pinkie Pie because they are the only ones that know what she did (unless Luna visits her in her dreams.)
4484184 True, espically in this case the smallest spark, even one from the fires already going could turn other bridges into a bonfire.
4485215 While I hope that Rarity can figure it out on her own you are probably right. Though who will tell her and what her reaction will is the question.
Spike is the Dragonic Flash Sentry done right.............................. His magnificent rule will last for generations, and No one can do a DAMN thing about it.
Grand old job DragonPony, I applaud you on this glorious workings and mechanical ideas in this fic of wonderance!!!!!!!
This satisfies me, Twilight put the emotional smack down on Rarity and it was glorious, both in what was said and why it was said. I can't wait to see who else will get involved and how Rarity will embarrass herself next.
You know what I really find interesting? From Rarity's behavior at learning this news and onward, I believe she viewed Spike in much the same way Twilight did.
Remember, Spike's been into her since square one so she has no idea what he's like without his infatuation. Sure anyone can tell he had a crush, herself included, but his behavior towards her had mellowed out over the series. So she may have come to the assumption that mellowed-out-but-still-crushing Spike is default Spike. It's the only way he ever acted around her after all.
Now this change in the status quo has clearly shaken her, but not once in her dialog has she mentioned Spike's infatuation with her. I think she really never realized it was still there all these years and thought spike was always this accommodating. He's well known for his "perfect assistant" ways after all, which fits her perception of him perfectly, so it's not a stretch.
He had inadvertently become her rock. A constant she could rely on, just like with Twilight. Always there to help, to encourage, to comfort. A constant that the removal of which has left her at a complete loss. Everyone's assumption that she knew all along will only confuse her further when she talks to her friends, as talking to Twi clearly demonstrates.
Wether she will grow to learn she loves him herself is up in the air, but I just think she may be as much a victim here as Spike and Twi.
Though her reaction here is perfectly understandable. I mean Twi is doing her self-proclaimed little brother after all.
Though her reaction here is perfectly understandable. I mean Twi is doing her self-proclaimed little brother after all.
That would have made sense. That, I don't think, Twilight would not have blown up at. Instead, the way Rarity said it, made it sound like there is no way Twilight could attract someone like Spike and/or vice versa.
Whether she will grow to learn she loves him herself is up in the air, but I just think she may be as much a victim here as Spike and Twi
I don't agree with this statement all at. Spike actually told Rarity how he felt, yet what did Rarity do? She ignores him and accepts a date with some other stallion while he is still there. She even sends Pinkie to fetch Spike for her so her can get ready for her date. If she a victim in any way, it's as a victim of her own doing.
That is true, no denying that. But we only know Spike's view of how that happened, not Rarity's. And Spike himself said that he was talking in circles for a while. I would not be surprised if it turns out that the stallion came in as a customer and, as a business owner, Rarity had to go deal with him. And Rare is known for being a hopeless romantic so glazing over him due to an imminent date induced emotional high wouldn't be the least bit unusual or really cruel.
And on Rarity's reaction to Twi and Spike, note she never actually said anything other then how utterly out there it is and nothing on why she felt so. She never got a chance to after all.
To be honest, we know next to nothing of what's going on here on Rarity's end. So I'm just gonna continue giving her the benefit of the doubt.
Besides, we got no proof Rarity actually heard the whole confession. She was already busy with the stallion by the time Spike bothered to check if she was actually still there.
4483450 Well when the population has such a skewed gender ratio, multiple partner relationship would generally be more common instead of monogomus (no clue if I spelled that right.)
4489926 well that fact alone says she shouldn't get to be with Spike. That she takes advantage of the poor dragon to the extent that she no longer even listens to him, to me says she shouldn't get the chance to be with him.
Well, Spike was so focused on just saying his confession that he himself missed Rarity's departure. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out he also missed her telling him to "hold that thought" and that she'd be right back.
4495621 She should have made sure he share instead of just walking away. In my experience if someone is still talking after you start walking then they probably didn't hear you and you should try repeating yourself instead of continuing to walk away. If she were paying attention to Spike properly instead of focusing on some random new stallion then she would have head him still talking and realized "oh wait there's more"instead of "oooh new man-meat" which appears to be all she focuses on throughout the first three seasons when there isn't something fashion related or an actual disaster happening
(Don't know if you can tell but Rarity is not my favourite character)
But in the full FOUR seasons she's only focused on 2 males, and only in the case of Blueblood was she left completely blind of Spike's presence.
Also she has been affectionate towards Spike, while not actually being romantic about it, since season 1. Recent eps even go so far as to show how much she cares about his presence and opinion, while never actually noting his romantic interest in her. Inspiration Manifestation (the only person who's opinion mattered to her was Spike's) and Simple Ways (completely missing the fact that he's crushing on her while bawling about Trenderhoof, while still going to him for help and advice) being the eps in question.
I understand your dislike of Rarity, and I do not hold it against you, but their dynamic is rather clearly presented in the series. He's crushing on her hard, and she sees him as a (overly) helpful and supportive little brother figure. Much like Twilight does.
Besides, ponies are known for being oblivious to Spike's presence on a regular basis, from Twi to Rare and every pony in between.
4501894 The Apple Jack thing I can agree with and the CMC also seem to pay attention to him more than the other ponies do.
And yes it has only been two guys for the duration of the show but the first guy blue blood is so obviously an ass from the word go that the fact that she still tries to impress him and get his attention is stupid and someone will say it's her generous nature giving him a chance to prove himself t be a good pony with some less redeeming qualities but after the first couple of examples of his snobbish, arrogant behaviour she should have realized the extent of his conceited nature.
And the render hoof. A whole episode based on the fact that Rarity wants some rich pretty boy toy to the extent that she will completely change who she is to try and impress him. And your comment of she doesn't realize his crush is crap as in the case of the fire ruby incident, sees pretty thing, wants pretty thing "oh spikey wikey , be a darling and give me that rare and expensive fire ruby you've been saving for your birthday dinner because I want it." *eyelid flutter*. She takes advantage of the poor drake's affections because she wants a stinking gem that spike had been aging for himself to make it the perfect tasting gemstone for his birthday
Her behavior with Blue and Trend is actually very normal for younger women, especially ones as in love with Love as Rarity is. Spike himself generally has much the same behavior when it comes to Rarity, especially early on. It's the idol worship type crush you get when it's a guy you like but don't actually know who is also famous.
Just stop and think of how many real girls you know or have heard of who have done these types of things to be noticed or liked by a guy they like. Hell, I know guys who've done it for girls. Rose tinted glasses are powerful things after all.
On the subject of the fire ruby she had never outright told him to give it to her or anything. She voiced her excitement and did a bad job hiding that she loves it, true. She's displayed trouble controlling her excitement before so it's normal for her and not strange for ponies in general. But Spike was the one who decided to give it of his own accord, and got a reward he was most happy with, happy enough to undo greed-growth later.
Lastly, as much as I would like to argue otherwise, there has been in no point in the series any solid indication that she's fully aware of his crush on her. Unless you know of a scene when it was mentioned that I missed, in which case please tell me.
so wait when Twilight said 'I intended to make sure my dragon gets the PERFECT herd', does that mean she's okay with Spike sleeping with the Mane 6 (minus Rarity)?

4483489 WHOOPS!
heh, didn't see that.
Hum. Didn't even let Rarity get a word in edgewise there, Twilight Sparkle. Careful that you don't trip over all this self-righteous outrage.

Damn. That browbeating almost made me feel sorry for Rarity.

4483557 I am actually Rarity didn't get a word in edgewise. It's what Rarity needed and deserved.
How can this 'friggin love machine' can have the Mane 6 as his herd?
BOO-YA!

The word you are looking for is cretin.....it basically means "idiot", or other derogatory terms.
Sorry for the spelling lesson, I'm no grammar nazi, nor a walking dictionary, just a friendly correction.
