Think of clapping. Now think of more clapping. Now think of more, more clapping. That is what I say to you.
What a great chapter

Wow................

No, no. You have underestimated the number. You need more clapping and then more and then the roar of the crowd as the wave of standing applause washes over you. There, now it is fixed :P
The lack of bitch slapping going on in this chapter instantly earns it a fail in my book.
Commence read.
Well that was a pretty deep chapter.
Fuck you, Celestia, Fuck you.
4566321 yes, yes, now we're talking.
Loyal. Just... I'm speechless. That... I can't even words right now how great that chapter was.

I....I can't....I can't help but feel sorry for celestia think of how hard it's going to be for her. Loyal, I love your stuff, keep going!
I honestly wanted Fleur to say "better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all." A trite statement, yes, but also one that is fundamentally true. Everyone laughs at that sentiment, until you ask one question.. I wanted her to ask that question "If you could make all the pain go away, simply by forgetting, by never having loved her at all, would you do it?" The answer it seems is obvious....
Actually that might be Its own story....
Wow, another chapter ending with me, reading on my porch, crying like a wee girl, and my husband and kids laughing their asses off at me.
Well done, Loyal. Well done indeed.
As well-written and emotionally-charged as this chapter is, I just can't get over Celestia's one-dimensional characterization that features such visibly blatant hypocrisy.
(Cue the downvotes for not being 120% happy with this chapter.)
4571004
huh. And here I thought I did a good job making Celestia's reasoning - flawed and backwards as it was - understandable.
Aah well. I guess you can't please them all.
4571496 Implying you could ever write the princesses without fucking something up to a degree not even measurable.
4571816
In your flawed, completely biased and skewed opinion, no. Of course not.
But this story doesn't cater to you; it's for everyone. So I had to cut corners for his almighty majesty somewhere.
4571882 Sir you are wrong on both accounts. This story is clearly not for everyone as it is tagged mature and sex, not everyone. It's also a fetish piece. And I don't accept critiques from people I have to carry.

Not to belabor the point, but I think I see where Shachza was going with his comment. Now, in our mutual defense, we did make more than a few tweaks to Celestia's words and behavior to better flesh out the "why" behind her actions (misguided as they are) Compared to where we started, I really think Celestia comes off not nearly as flat as she had before.
That said though, Celestia is being very hypocritical here, and Luna/Fleur (Fluna?) were right to call her out on it. Despite her own mental gymnastics, she is being blatantly hypocritical, but in the real world, humans are so often no better than Celestia in this instance. As we see every day on the news, people - especially those in power - are blatantly hypocritical at nearly every turn. Occasionally, the situation is complex and nuanced, but more often than not, they talk out of both sides of their mouth just as much as Celestia is here.
Anyway, could we have worked more nuance into it? Sure. But, imo, the 1-dimensional feel to her hypocrisy almost feels more 'real'. :)

It's not that I don't understand her reasoning. It's not that I wouldn't expect the kind of knee-jerk, bullheaded response that she's having in certain situations.
It's that I can't accept your in-story justification for her actions.
I've mentioned this over the past two chapters as well, but Celestia is broken in a way that makes no sense to me. Ribbon lived hundreds of years ago yet Celestia acts as though Ribbon died last week. Celestia never learned to cope. This is something that she either should have learned to deal with a very long time ago, or it should have destroyed her a very long time ago - an inability to cope would destroy someone with her lifespan.
And given who Celestia is, a multi-century "wangst-fest" seems extremely out of character.
4572151 I think that you are seriously tearing apart what a fantastic work this is. At the end of the day, it's just words on paper (virtual paper) maybe you are over thinking it a bit, instead of bringing your own self onto and disagreeing with a story, let the story disagree with you.
Oh gosh, I can see this evolving into a session. Please no, let Luna be in the doghouse for a little bit.

THAAAAAAAAAANK YOOOU.
"YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH WHEN YOU'RE TALKING TO ME!"
Considering she would be fucked anyway if it came to blows, this is the time to sit back and watch.
But I have read the first thing to know about immortality is knowing you will die. Be it from another immortal or when the universe collapses, eventually you will die.
Guess that means Luna needs to turn to Cadance. She seems awfully forgotten about through all of this. Considering she is supposed to be the same age as Luna and Celestia.
5939488 On your definition of immortality:
Immortality literally means eternal life. Forever. Infinite.
This means they cannot be killed
Be it from another immortal stabbing them, or the universe imploding
They cannot die
Floating in the void of nothingness
You, and what most writers who use the word "immortal" are thinking of is Agelessness / Nigh Indestructibility.
5965930
Longevity's a good word for it. Not immortality, but never-ending life...unless you get a spear through your face, or you get a'sploded, or cut into pieces and whatnot.
I'm curious as to what she did.
