I think that this story has a lot of potential honestly. I like the Friday the 13th part 2 and The Grey vibe I got off of it. Some of the descriptions are pretty neat too.

When you say that you didn't really edit the story, it shows and it really does need it. The very beginning is fairly general so, what I might suggest (if you decide you want to re-work it) is put your timber wolf campfire story up front. You could even pull the Friday the 13th part 7 beginning with the whole, "There's a legend in these parts," type of story. Then, once the story is done the other characters can react however, they need to react and through those reactions we get some insight into their characters.

From there on out it should be much easier to accomplish what you want to have happen in as much gory detail as you want it to happen.
