Cadance expects a nice night on the town. Chrysalis expects a feast of love. They both get what they want, but in a way neither of them expect. The only question is how long can they keep it a secret?
You know, I think my favorite part of this story is the sort of expected role-reversal between Cadence and Chrysalis- having the Princess of Love be kind of a lecher while the "seductress changeling" is an awkward closeted virgin. It makes their interactions pretty hilarious.
Chrysalis is almost adorkable here, but I don't feel that is quite the right word. She's just a nice slice of socially awkward with being herself while Cadance is just...
It occurs to me Cadance is corrupting Chrysalis and not the other way around.
7658812 7658822 To be fair, they didn't exactly get a chance to really know each other during the wedding. Now they have all the time to get to know one another in more ways then one
A story where the princesses don't whine about "the nobles", or where said "nobles" aren't painted as worthless ponies, but actually get a kind word for once.
Which is especially aggravating when you have a mare like Chrysalis do it. None of the pony nobles ever failed so epically as her, but it's okay when she does it.
7661280 When you mentioned the whining I felt obligated to post this.
I see your point, but where's the fun in making them all nice and happy and stuff? We've already seen in the show and the comics that most nobles are total snobs with some exceptions. To be fair, i do enjoy the occasional fic where Blueblood isn't a douchebag, but the nobles create the tension. Most political drama is caused by jackass nobles. They are almost as constant as death and taxes.
I'm afraid i don't follow when you say it's aggravating when Chrysalis does it? As far as she's said, there are no changeling nobles (at least since well before her time), and she dislikes that they think love can happen by a wave of Cadance's horn. She doesn't really have the experience with nobles like the rest of the princesses do.
7661980 But that's just it. In the show, they're harmless. Their greatest crime is hanging off of what Fancy Pants says too much. And the things they do are art gallery openings and charity auctions. Even if they do it mainly to have fun and indulge themselves, even if they're snobs about it, the net result is positive. And from what we've seen, most of them worship Celestia. They'd probably cry if they learned she was disappointed in them.
Almost no story makes any effort to go beyond a stereotypical Nobles=StupidBad joke.

It's twofold. For one, Chrysalis disses them for being StupidBad, just like Cadance did. That coming from a mare who failed an Invasion she pretty much had on lockdown due to her own arrogance and stupidity is a tad hypocritical.
Secondly, Chrysalis nearly ruined Cadance's life, that of her husband-to-be, of her sister-in-law, her auntie, and the entirety of Canterlot. And yet, Cadance forgives her very easily. Compare that to the nobles, who have the nerve to pester her about love questions. They deserve to be purged!
In the end, I'm left with two royals who I think don't really know what they're talking about.
7662729 You do have a point, and I'll have to consider that in the future, but as it stands the fic doesn't focus on the nobles. They're just a simple plot device to make conversation with. I do not have any plans to use the nobles in any way more than this little conversation. Still, I will say that I have used this rewrite as a chance to smooth out every wrinkle I could that would affect the story. I just didn't see this as a big enough wrinkle, or at least it seemed too natural for me as people are hypocritical to some degree.
The spa visit itself seemed a bit rushed. I mean, they were in the steam room for, what... five minutes? That's how it seems to me, at least. Not a complaint, really, just a bit of feedback. I do appreciate the time taken to help establish the characters and their relationships, though. Very nice.
one thing I wonder about in the previous chapter is if you want to stick with your version of the hive but also stick to the canon of the show why not do what I am doing in my story and have them be SEPERATE hives like thorax took control over chryssi's old hive and the true queen has control over the main renegade hive my story has chryssi as the queen of the renegades(soon to step down) and thorax as the king of the new order and the two hives are a ways apart
So is Fleur still a dickmare?

I don't know how to feel about that.
My love magic can drive entire rooms into full out orgies if I’m not careful. Although it certainly made college more interesting, that’s for sure.
there's a writing prompt for ya
I so love your adorkable Chrysalis.
She is so cute
Great chapter.

Still a bit upset that we're just trading old ground, but overall still fun. It's also entertaining to spot all the little differences.
7659444 I'm sorry I'm just trying to do better for my readers and do this story justice
I like it. Chryssie is just so adorkable, and Cadance is just so... Cadance. Great chapter.
7659499 Like I said, no real problems, just eager for the new stuff.
You know what's really rare on this site?

Yes, that's also true. And, well... it's really more of a general thing, you know?
