This story does make me wonder what had happened to cause the world to change in the manner that it did.
A small critique: Overall, I couldn't get too emotionally attached to the work itself. Since a fair amount of the story was told, rather than shown and because of its short length. It kept me as a reader feeling separated from the characters. There were a few spelling mistakes and a missing word here or there. Overall, it wasn't enough to knock me out of the story as a whole. But really there's not too much more I can comment on. If it were a longer piece I could work out more continuous errors and point them out.
