Take Ten: Sparks at Ponyville

While the wild and crazy commotion edged on in Canterlot, let's take a look back at what has gone on in Ponyville. Rarity and Twilight were not at the peace they thought they would be at, and hadn't written to their friends at all. But love sparks when some are not around. But is it real? Or is there something else to it...?

The other mares had gone about their usual lives after saying goodbye to Rarity at the station, and Pinkie followed close to Fluttershy, who was heading towards her cottage to tend to the cute creatures.

"Hey Pinkie," the yellow pegasus said softly, tossing the crumbs of food softly on the lush grass near the river, "Aren't you going to plan anything or something like that?"

The pink and ecstatic earth pony thought to herself for a split second. "Well...I wanted to hang out with you for a day,"

Oh my. Pinkie Pie never offers a day with just me. She usually invites the others...

The yellow pegasus couldn't help but blush, the heat in her cheeks rising. Pinkie really flattered her with this, although she was her best friend. And it was a bit off. Usually the hits would miss with Pinkie, as she was usually never straightforward with what she meant by what she would say. Pinkie was certainly a mysterious pony, and Fluttershy felt attracted to it.

"Wow your face is so red!" Pinkie giggled and put Fluttershy's face in her hoofs, squeezing her face cutely and softly. This made Fluttershy blush more. Her cheeks were a rose-pink now. Fluttershy gulped and stood quiet, and then hid in her wings taking a few steps back.

"I-I'm sorry," Fluttershy muttered. Pinkie smiled brighter and hugged Fluttershy tight.

"Its okay!" Pinkie encouragingly said, "You know...I was wondering if you could like...go out with me some more,"

"G-go out?!" Fluttershy gasped. Pinkie giggled.

"Sure. Why not? I mean all the others are like always around us we barely get any time together and I think you're actually pretty cool to hang out with, and that I really wanna get you out and up so you can be like super social and..." Pinkie went on and on and Fluttershy stood paralyzed with flutters in her belly. She sighed softly, listening closely to everything the outgoing party pony said, "Fluttershy? Are you okay?" Pinkie waved her hoof in front of Fluttershy's lost in daydream face. Soon the pegasus shook her head and looked to the side smiling.

"Y-yes?"

The earth pony smiled, "So are you coming with me to help plan?"

"I-I'm not so good at planning," Fluttershy said softly. Pinkie nudged Fluttershy's mane and head with her hoof and giggled.

"Well, I'll teach you a few things. Especially making cupcakes!" the pink pony then let out her tongue and licked her lips, "Mmm. Cupcakes. Frosting...ahhh. You'll never get old," she savored in the delight of the thought of eating so many sweets that she almost forgot Fluttershy was next to her.

"Umm...actually I am a good chef, I can give you that. But all I know how to cook is pet food,"

"Didn't you make Angel a salad once?"

"W-well yes, but..."

"No buts in cooking! I'll make sure I teach you everything about baking cupcakes!" The earth pony happily exclaimed before taking Fluttershy's hoof and pulling her away, the basket of crumbs spinning and fell.

They got to Sugarcube Corner where Pinkie pulled Fluttershy into the kitchen and took out dough powder and smiled, "Okay! Just follow by the book and you can be a certified baker in no time flat!" the pony said excitedly.

Pinkie sure is energetic. It's really cute. She's kind of like a puppy. A small, cute puppy.

Fluttershy read the directions and when she began stirring the dough, it became harder to spin. She let out a sweat and wiped it, taking in a breath, "How do you do this? Doesn't the mixer work?"

"Oh, that old thing? It broke down. Something of twists and turns of gadgets...gizmos...what were they called again?" Pinkie shrugged and smiled, "Oh, well. We should be getting a new one in a week or so. For now, the mixing is done by hoof,"

Fluttershy struggled to mix and Pinkie got behind her and got close to. Fluttershy could feel the heat from Pinkie's body. It was very hot. Expected of a pony that was all over the place. Fluttershy stood quiet as Pinkie put a hoof on hers and helped mix the batch,

"Yeah. This does get super-duper hard after a while. It says to spin for a certain time or else they won't be just right. They have to be amazingly perfect and scrumptious and amazing and sweet and tasty and delightful and did I say amazing? Because every pony loves these amazing cupcakes! And by every pony...that especially means me,"

Fluttershy wanted to move her hoof, but Pinkie's hoof was pressed to hers, so moving didn't really seem like an option. Fluttershy's rosy cheeks had reached their limit, and before she even knew it as Pinkie went on and on, she sealed the earth pony's mouth with a kiss.

Fluttershy only slightly met tongue with Pinkie, and broke the kiss slowly, and looked down fast. She let out a tear, "I-I'm so sorry," she muttered, on the brink of crying. Pinkie gasped and gaped. Fluttershy quickly flew off crying softly and Pinkie leaned her head on the cupcake cabinet.

"What...just...happened?"

Take Eleven: Sparks In Ponyville 2

Rainbow Dash flew by, adjusting the clouds for the clear skies when she noticed Apple Jack bucking in the acres.

"Eh, I got time to say hi," Rainbow shrugged. She flew down and greeted the country pony, who smiled while bucking a tree. She then spoke.

"What's up, Rainbow?" she asked, "Wanna have another battle of the awesome?" Applejack smirked. Rainbow shook her head.

"Nah. I'm not really in the mood. I actually just, um...wanted to hang out with you today. See a game of Hoofball** in the next town or something," she asked. Applejack was surprised to see Rainbow Dash not up for a tournament of proving her worth. It was just not like her. Rainbow stammered, "But you know, it's not like you have to go. I was just going to buy tickets and I thought you might like to come,"

The earth pony stammered as she spoke and smiled, "Well shucks, Rainbow. Sure I would like to go. It'll be something different for a change. Except...the others aren't comin'?" she asked. Rainbow played with the ground softly, stepping her hoof in the soft grass,

"Well, the others are always together in groups of three or more usually and when we're in pairs we usually are on a job. I would love to hang out just us. Two best friends," Rainbow and Applejack blushed, rubbing their left legs with their right hoofs smiling softly.

"Gee, Rainbow. You feel that? Woo-wee that's some heat,"

"Y-yeah.." Rainbow laughed nervously and looked to the side, then raised her neck proudly.

Was that love I felt? I felt...weak in her presence. Jackie looked weak too. Her eyes were so shiny. She is so beautiful...

Rainbow shook her head and looked at Jackie who did the same thing.

"So, um...Ah'll see you later, then?" Jackie asked. Rainbow smiled nervously and scratched her head with her hoof.

"Y-yeah. Definitely. Meet me at the station when you're done bucking apples and all that stuff you call chores," Rainbow fled as fast as she could from the scene while Applejack bucked one more tree but weakly and sighed.

"Was it just me...or did ah feel some sort of...spark?"

The two mares had made their way onto the train and in a couple of hours arrived in the next town. It was almost sunset, and Rainbow brought Jackie to the huge stadium. They sat and watched the halftime. It was the performance of the Wonderbolts, and Rainbow was ecstatic. She always loved the wonderbolts, and Applejack seemed to be enjoying them with her. Although the earth pony had more of her sight focused on Rainbow. The pegasus was pretty. Tom-coltish. Cute when excited.

Applejack then shook her head, "What am ah thinking," she muttered to herself as quiet as possible. The announcer of the game then spoke before Rainbow could ask what was wrong.

"Hello my little ponies!" he said in a loud, clear voice, "We have a new magic screen I would like to present. It took several bits and years to make, but here it is!" a huge red curtain then unveiled. It was a huge screen, and showed score and game play on it. It showed a view on the crowd, "This new gizmo is made from cutting edge magical technology, and every game we have will have one lucky couple who will kiss!"

Applejack blushed, regardless she knew that this wasn't a date. Rainbow put her hoof around the earth pony's neck and smiled.

"You feeling okay?" she asked. Did the Wonderbolts' awesome performance wreck your world! Because it wrecked mine!"

"I-I'm feelin' perfectly fine," she smiled, then when she glanced at the screen, a huge heart was over her and Rainbow. Both mares gasped. Every pony in the stage had their eyes set on them, and the two felt very awkward and strange. Both shared a mutual blush. Both had rosy red cheeks and a feint smile.

This isn't even a date. We ain't no couple. That's the truth...right? But to be honest...ah somehow feel Rainbow is just as confused as I.

Applejack looks so nervous. She isn't fine! It's like that strange power I felt in me earlier. It was awesome. Thrilling. My stomach never felt so shaky in my life. What does this even mean?

Soon the mares found themselves at each others lips, and the crowd cheered as the fireworks shaped like hearts ignited. The pony setting them gave himself quite the smoke. His entire face was black from the blast.

"Why do my fireworks always do this to me?" he asked before cheering with the crowd. The Wonderbolts' leader, Spitfire, got red in the face.

So Rainbow is that type of pony. Who...who would have thought? Certainly not me, hehe...

Rainbow and Applejack broke the kiss slowly, and looked each other in the eyes.

"A-an awesome kiss...which...um..." Rainbow giggled nervously, something she didn't do often, and looked down. Usually she would keep her head high and proud. But she was keeping a secret from Applejack, who had to come clean and honest with what she felt.

"Rainbow...ah've been feelin' all funny for a while now. Not just today. But there have been days where ah thought that we're...you know, compatible. And ah've been wonderin' if, you know..."

"If we could go out?" Rainbow asked as the rest of the crowd returned their attention to the game. Applejack nodded.

"Y-yeah," both mares looked to the side, smiling.

"Of course I'll go out with you," Rainbow said ecstatically. Applejack hugged Rainbow.

"Ah just wonder what Twilight and the others will think of us,"

"Who cares? We're going out. Don't matter to me," Rainbow finished. The game finished in half an hour, and the two headed home.

**Hoofball: Just made it for the lols. Also because the "half time" is American Football's Superbowl event. And the kiss from the kiss screen in some movies is baseball. Maybe the game would consist of pegasi and earth ponies playing a combination of "hoof(foot)ball" and baseball, and a unicorn will most likely make some of the retrieves of the ball and launch it, etc etc. Think on it more if you'd like. Its not a major thing as I said before its just...there cause it had a nice ring to it.

Take Twelve: Luna's Patience

Luna paced back and forth in her room, glancing out to the sunlit fields of Equestria when she felt the need to. Celestia was on duty, and she had nothing to do. She pondered on what she really felt about the situation at hoof. Twilight loved Rarity. Spike was influenced by an evil too great to imagine, and she could sense death and shadows on the rise. The Nightmare Moon within her quaked. It sent shivers down her spine as the echoes of her subconscious began to grow strong. The princess rubbed her forehead tensely with her hoof groaning.

"Ugh. Why do I have to wait for sister to tell me to make a move? Why does Twilight always save the day? I need to do something, something must be done! Stupid sister. I deserve to have the spotlight this time!" The princess' eyes then glowed a bright white, "We should have the feel of that glory!" Luna exclaimed. Strong winds from her magic violently swept some items in the room, and she took a deep breath noticing the mess she had made. Relaxing her mind she repaired everything in the room and placed them neatly.

"Why sister? It's so wrong. It's so so wrong,"

"Is that really how you feel? Or is there something more to the stupid sister that I am?" Celestia walked in, a tense look in her eyes. Luna avoided her sister's eyes.

"Never you mind," Luna said, "We...i mean I was just...thinking," Luna said, her hoof planting in the mosaic rug harder. Celestia walked to her younger sister gently, and found that as she got closer, a sudden rose-pink arose in the dark alicorn's cheeks. Noticing this the princess of day couldn't help but stammer in her mind.

This castle...this land. The power of love is so strong. It is spreading so quickly. Could it be that when Scaly was released...it caused the Dark Love to rise evermore stronger? I have to inform Twilight of this tonight. But first I must see what troubles my sister.

"Sister, I..."

"Don't," Luna interrupted Celestia quickly, "It won't matter. I can feel this...love in me. And it is for you. It seems as though ever since Scaly was released that I felt this way. This could mean that any ponies that shared a very close relationship, or, competed multiple times for the sake of glory and rivalry, will feel a 'spark'. This must be stopped, sister. We must separate Scaly from Spike before we lose colts and mares to his shadows..." Luna got slightly closer to Celestia and nuzzled her head in the white alicorn's neck. Celestia gasped, and tried as hard as she could to fight the dark love that was now forming in her mind.

I cannot harm my sister. If I give in, nothing in her shall awaken, and my duty as princess will be destroyed. I wish to keep my beings safe. And if it means taking a risk...I will take-

"Mmmf!" Celestia exclaimed as Luna pressed her lips against hers. Celestia broke the kiss while she could, and Luna smiled softly.

"Did...did you like that, sis?" she said, cornering Celestia to a wall.

"How could I ever like a kiss from my sister?" Celestia exclaimed as angrily and forward as she could. Inside the dark power said "Yes. I like it. I love my sister. And I want to kiss her more. I want to break that relationship and form a stronger, newer one."

This however had a weak effect on the princess who rebelled with the great strength she had in store. Glancing at her sister, who now had tears at the corner of her eyes, she wished to know why her great sister could not rebel. There was only one way, and that meant the dark love was fueling Nightmare Moon. It lowered Luna's boundaries, and her defenses had weakened. If only there was more time. Luna could have gotten rid of Nightmare Moon in just a year or two with the practice of separation and ultimate destruction magic.

Luna cried and ran out, her flowing mane and tail flying back fast with the wind against her speed. Celestia felt sorry for rejecting, but it had to be done.

"I guess it is back to duty, then. And Twilight Sparkle," she said, looking out the window, "It is time you faced a truth about a friend you might have to end...in order to bring peace to Equestria,"

Take Thirteen: Restless Night

Rarity tossed and turned as thunder clapped, and the lightning swept bright, instant light into her beautiful room. She removed her eye mask and sighed.

"I can't stop thinking about what happened!" she groaned, and covered her face softly with the pillow, "I am the most generous pony in all of Equestria! And I took a life! Wait. Spike was nowhere to be found!" the flashback came to her mind, "T-that means...Spikey-poo is alive! I must save him!" she said assertive, and switched on her lamp. She used her magic to place her silk nightgown on the bed, and looked at the clock. It was midnight, and the pouring of the rain got harder and far rougher than before.

"Perhaps I should just stay in," Rarity said quietly, glancing outside. There was no way she was going to get her mane wet again. But she felt horrible. She was too generous to take a life. The unicorn felt guilty about the greedy act she had made. Spike certainly was not himself, and it could have been helped. But for some reason, darkness just arose in her heart, and her love just ignited. Rarity lost her mind, and because of that...

"Spike could be dead...or horribly injured. How could I let myself go like that? It must have something to do with that Scaly character Spike went on about," she began to pace. Soon she realized she had to do that thing Twilight usually did. Yes. She had to hit the libraries. Rarity smiled, "Okay. To the Library Wing," she said, and galloped out of her room.

Twilight rolled around in bed as lightning swiftly swept light into her gorgeous room, fit for any princess. This was the same bed Cadence fell sick on, the darkest of bonds created, and the most powerful of bonds shattered. The lavender alicorn let out a tear and cried softly.

I lost so many ponies I loved today! My brother, dead by my horn! I don't even feel comfortable with magic anymore! My heart feels so heavy. How could I confess these things to Rarity? What happened to Spike? He's dead probably! I feel so bad. I have never felt the need to throw up feeling so conflicted...

"Is there something wrong, Twilight? Perhaps it is time you confessed about earlier these past two weeks?" Celestia stepped into the room formally, and Twilight's ears flopped.

"I...I don't know what to do. What to say. If I say something...I'll be..." Twilight cried softly, breaking out in tears, "It's not my fault! I'm the good one and she just...tempted me! And then he tried to kill me so I had no other choice! Then I abandoned Spike because he tried to destroy the love Rarity and I shared, and..."

Twilight felt a sudden warmth to her broken mind as Celestia smiled at her, wrapping a hoof around her shoulder, "Its okay, Twilight. I will pardon you of everything..." Celestia's face then got immediately serious, "However the Spike incident is the one that has caused all the commotion. He opened a forbidden potion book that let out a dark love nature out into Equestria, and soon even the closest of friends and rivals will be together. And when I say the closest...that includes any...siblings or...cousins. So on and so forth,"

Twilight gasped, "Oh, no," she muttered, now looking down. Celestia looked to the side.

"I'm afraid my sister has also fallen," lightning swept into the room and thunder crashed, "And soon all of Equestria will vanish. But first I must confirm something,"

"Anything. I need as much information as possible,"

"It's about you," Celestia started, "Your love for Rarity. I am still pondering if it is real...or an illusion created by Scaly's dark love nature itself. How long have you felt this way?"

Twilight blushed and smiled softly. The thought of Rarity now eased her mind, regardless of the eerie universe that existed around her, "Well...ever since I came here as reported I missed my friends a lot. Soon I noticed there was one who really wanted to marry into royalty...and...I realized how gorgeous she was. It seemed a month was too much away from Rarity. So I invited her over here. But I just..."

"You just what?" Celestia now placed her eyes in Twilight's, who evaded the look quickly.

"I knew that a princess could not have the love of another gender..."

"Whoever said that?" Celestia asked.

"S-such is the law and moral code of us...correct?"

Celestia laughed to herself softly.

"Twilight, maybe you focus too much on those books. Take a break and look at the world. Love is your choice. Some may be forbidden...but for all the right reasons, and others are not. Why you ask? Because love varies. And even if a princess or prince is in love with the same gender, it does not matter. For love is a part of life, and every pony should know it," Celestia said gleefully, and walked to the door.

Twilight smiled brightly.

I can do it now. I can confess to Rarity!

The high princess cleared her throat, "Just remember that you must use natural love against dark love. I will search for Spike and obtain as much information as possible. Keep safe, princess,"

With that, Celestia flew off and Twilight took in a deep breath.

"I will find you tonight Rarity. Fourteen days...and a month are far too long to be separated from you," Twilight smiled, and walked out of the door.

The 10th chapter title should be Take Ten-Thirteen: Sparks at Ponyville, Luna's Patience and the Restless Night.

Have you lost the direction of the story, or have taken it in another direction than originally intended?
Seeing that the next chapter (Take Fourteen, which is seen at the beginning of the first chapter.) references things that haven't happend in the story so far... :twilightblush:
