Every twenty minutes, someone on Earth is injured or killed by a landmine. Many of these people are civilians, struck down by weapons that don't know their war is long over. This is the kind of everyday tragedy that I'd like to imagine ponies don't have to deal with.

But then, what if they did?

This is an attempt to answer that question. It's not long or pretty, and it's not the happiest tale, but there is light left in that world, and optimism, and hope. I was astonished at where these characters led me.

Very touching. Well done.

A bit sporadic, but then again some things are better left unsaid. Brilliant work

Thanks! I know it's a bit of a mess. I originally wrote this in a Facebook comment thread, so it's a bit all over the place. Afterwards I cleaned it up and fleshed a few things out just to get it over the 1,000 word minimum, but it's still very stream-of-consciousness.

This story makes me wish I knew how to post compliments without the awkward feeling that I'm not saying something helpful.
