Let's just say Italy was never unified, it was always divided by city-states. There are Celts, Greeks, Carthaginians, and other groups squabbling over it in endless wars. With Rome neutralized as a threat, who would rise as a superpower instead and fill the power vacuum?

This takes place in an Equestria where the princesses were overthrown by the nobles, the mane six splitting up, and the princess of the sun and moon locked away in a vault to keep the day and night going.
So, I've been doing more work on the current chapter, working through several character interactions, stuff I'd planned from the start. I'm still puzzling over the connecting segments, but I've got an idea about how the story proceeds. Now it's a question of putting everything together.
