Meet the Coronavirus Family: Viruses, Virus Groups, and SARS-CoV-2 in Context · 5:30pm Mar 27th, 2020

Blog Number 72: "Where Did That Coronavirus Come From?" Edition

Did you know, for instance, that "coronavirus" in scientific terms describes a family of viruses? The current strain is known as SARS-CoV-2, but what does that jumble of letters mean, and why "2"? And why's "COVID-19" tossed into the mix as well?

Coronavirus in Bradybunch's life · 8:40pm Mar 13th, 2020

Well, my classes from the 13th to the 17th are all canceled completely, and when classes resume on the 18th, they'll all be online classes and stuff. Devotionals are all canceled, most of my church gatherings are canceled, and there's little reason for me to stay in Rexburg for the rest of the semester. So I'm trying to work out a way for me to get back to Maryland, which is apparently completely on lockdown for my family. I might even be going back in at least a week.

Short answer? Yes.

Long answer?

Retrospective and hindsight is the best way to look at this. Do me the courtesy of watching it before arguing.

The real truth behind the Coronavirus... · 2:04am Mar 27th, 2020

This is so, so sad.
Take this disease seriously everyone.
Saying that it is not a big of a deal, look at the problems that the hospitals are having.
It is big deal everyone!

If you don't take this very seriously and say to me that it's not that big of a deal, I will think very lowly of you because it's pretty serious!!!
Look at the death rates of Spain and Italy. They are getting their asses beaten!!!

I am anxious · 9:20pm Apr 18th, 2020

I apologize for using this as a space to vent, yet again, but it's the easiest place for me to put my thoughts and feelings out in the open. Everyone and their brother has done a coronavirus blog, and I suppose... in a way this is mine. So, read only if you want to.

Italy under lockdown · 9:43am Mar 12th, 2020

Due to the growing number of people infected by SarsCoV2 aka COVID-19 aka coronavirus, my country is now under quarantene. In a TV speech this Monday, our prime minister told us to not leave our homes unless for really important reasons while last night a decree with more strict directives was signed. Non-essential shops are now closed, while police and military units are establishing check-points to limit circulation between cities.

Things to keep you occupied while at home. · 2:53pm Mar 29th, 2020

I'll start with a movie recommendation.

"Panic In The Streets" (1950) - A doctor and a policeman in New Orleans have only 48 hours to locate a killer infected with pneumonic plague.
Stars Richard Widmark, Jack Palance and Barbara Bel Geddes (She played 'Midge' in Hitchcock's "Vertigo". She's great in this film.)

Guess what boios? Techie's entire school district is closed for 2 weeks, and he realized AFTER getting home that he left his nice wireless mouse at school! · 10:38pm Mar 13th, 2020

Well, RIP that thing for two weeks, I guess.

Back to my old wired mouse it is. Just gotta get used to the slightly sticky left click that it's had ever since I first got the thing.

Oof.

Also, my friend's mom may or may not have Covid-19 from her boss. Nobody knows, because there aren't enough tests! Yaaaaaaaay.

Social distancing. · 9:02pm Apr 4th, 2020

.....it's starting to get to me.
Since the beginning of the year, I've had this strange feeling that time is passing too quickly. It feels like I'm hurtling forwards through life, unable to slow down and take in my surroundings. But it's even stronger now. The days and weeks are all blurring together with nothing to separate them, and I find myself wondering what day of the week it is, if I finished school for the day, or even if I ate.

I don't think it's fair to say I've started social distancing. · 4:29pm Mar 16th, 2020

Because, honestly, I've been doing it my entire adult life. Work. Home. Work. Home. Work. Home. That's been my routine for the past four days.

One thing we did do frequently is eat out, and that's going to stop, at least for the next two weeks, maybe longer as we keep an eye on things. Some are saying that we're on track to be Italy in the next couple weeks.

So yeah I just learned that my college will be doing all virtual classes after spring break, due to coronavirus. Still not sure whether I will return to campus or stay home. I will be staying at home for the rest of the semester.

Anyone else in a similar situation?
