Wow, someone else was inspired to do a different take on the duel story idea (two stories in one writing).

Check out Scribblestick's story Between the Lines. It's also a bit dark for those of you who like that sort of thing. Overall I think it was done better than mine but it's hard to tell as I am very hard on myself. I do think he used the mechanic better.

Well, that took a lot longer than I ever expected it to. At least 3 and a half years have been spent on the past 18 chapters and I am elated to finally have it done.

There is prevailing wisdom on this site that the easiest way to get into the featured box on the front page is to write clop.

However, this ignores the fact that fimfiction effectively has two featured boxes. One is displayed if your settings make M-rated stories visible. The other is displayed otherwise. Here are a couple of screenshots I took a little while ago showing the two featured boxes:

I am very pleased with the end result of this one. Page numbers are present and the title text is large and underlined. So many comments from readers who want Antiquity to die after this arc. I wonder whether or not I can call her a successful villain from that? The best villains are those you love to hate, but for me that hardly ever means wishing them dead. When I love to hate a villain, nothing is more satisfying than imagining their future interactions with the character. Death doesn't usually factor into that desire because their death would be a finality that ends future interactions, if that makes sense.

Sorry, chapter 6 for this is still barely started. I just haven't felt sufficient motivation to write lately. That said, in the next few weeks, I'll be publishing a couple of one-shot stories that I wrote a while back, so there won't be a total drought of VitalSpark material. Well, it’s been three weeks, and in that time, Colony has continued to be an absolute hit. At this point, it’s no stretch to call it my most successful title yet. since its release, it’s sold on average two copies per day!

And it keeps selling!

And that’s just sales. Colony is on Kindle Unlimited, and I’m also seeing a number of reads there. How many? Enough that I’m seeing an average of 720 pages read per day. One day hit almost 3,000 pages read.
