So, Discord has a role in the next upcoming commission I'm working on. Trixie and Discord have got to be two of my favorite MLP characters to write for. So furious. So whimsical, so garish. So much potential, though my Discord is a lot closer to the Q side of the equation.

Reading the past week's analysis journals has led me to realize that I was mostly caught up in the "Oh my god, actually changelings!" hype with the last episode and that, no, it doesn't work out that well. As a story about Spike dealing with his celebrity status, it works well enough; it's certainly better than most Spike episode in portraying him, and I'll say the new writers did a better job with the characters than a lot of other new writers this season ("pen pal quill set", anyone?) Hoopy McGee's The Keepers of Discord is not a story I've heard a lot about. It's on the Vault, yes, but the main reason for this journal is that, up until this month, it was the highest-rated story on Fimfiction. (Someone posted a journal about its dethronement; I'm not sure what took its place, you can look it up yourself.)

I'm back with another episode review. This time, we're taking a look at Discordant Harmony with some of that FlutterCord awesomeness. Anywho, as usual, there are some spoilers to be had, so check after the break for the details!

It's a shame "Blame Australia" doesn't have the same cadence as "Blame Canada" because goddammit fuck. I mean, it's nice that we can get into the hiatus after actually having watched half the season instead of 11/26ths of it, but aw who am I kidding, I haven't seen ponies in weeks and I've been loving it. <.<
Anyway, this episode wasn't worth seeing early.
Rainbow Dash: "...Okay, I give up. What the heck is a tatzlpony?"
Discord: "I'm entering an experimental phase of the business! Monster-pony fusions! A pony will be infused with all the most notable traits of a monster! In this case, a tatzlwyrm!"
Rarity: "...Why a tatzlwyrm?"
Discord: "I think they're cute. Why do you think I tricked Purple Smart and Lovebutt into going to find one? Just to be mean?"
Applejack: "Yes."
Okay, so this is new. I'm talking about the most recent episode as I was able to gather my thoughts on it rather quickly after I finished.
To be honest, I was never a big fan of Discord even back in season 2. Sure, he was a much more dangerous antagonist than Nightmare Moon, but he wasn't intimidating enough to be threatening. His humor, while very funny, didn't really enhance his villainy (like say Kefka or Terumi), and he really didn't leave much of an impact on me.
I know only a very small handful of you have me on Discord.
If I vanish overnight it's because I will be uninstalling it.

Currently on Chapter Three of this request I received before the computer blew up, and wondering if I should make Discord's fourth wall-breaking more prominent... I like Discord fairly alright. I mean, he's fun when he's on screen, but doesn't really hold my attention enough for me to think about him when he's not on screen. Because of this, I'm wondering if I might be able to make him a little more fun for me by using his wit instead of just his wacky chaos magic.
First, Bride of Discord used the Fluttershy x Discord pairing, with Fluttershy being forced to marry the lord of chaos.
Then, another audio drama called The Lover’s Stone used the Discord x Celestia pairing.
Now, an audio drama known as Dancing With The Shadows is still in early progress. Who’s the lucky mare for the Lord of Chaos? Twilight!
