On a dark night filled with even darker magics, an insane cult attempts to give Nightmare Moon a body and life of her own, utterly separate from Princess Luna. But, when the spell is interrupted by Celestia, something unexpected is created.

Now, a little black alicorn filly named Nyx finds herself living under the care of Twilight Sparkle, only to be haunted by memories and emotions from her past. Is she Nightmare Moon reborn or is she simply a doppelganger with a soul and mind of her own? Can Twilight Sparkle protect Nyx from those who refuse to see past her dragon eyes and black coat?

Or, will Nyx be forced to inherit the sins that may not even be hers and become the greatest evil Equestria has ever known?

Equestria has always been a nation of harmony and friendship, founded on these ideals long before even Celestia and Luna came to rule the ponies which resided there. As with all nations it has faced troubled times, times when the elements which founded it were put to the test, but always pulled through.

However, the history of ponies was not always as it now is. Ponykind rose in strife and fear, a time long since forgotten by those ponies who live now. When a piece of this past returns to the world of ponies, the harmonious nature of Equestria disgusts it, and this mysterious evil will stop at nothing to return ponydom to it's once horrific and fearful past.

After the mishap of the Grand Galloping Gala, Octavia Pie's Prestigious Classical Career came to a screeching halt as the disgruntled party planner fired her for her mistaken playful participation in the Pony Pokey. Feeling down and angry, Octavia can only look to the future and hope to salvage what's left of her reputation, and with a surprise opportunity, she plans on presenting Equestria with a masterpiece. The road to find inspiration is a long an arduous one, but one can only dream of the gifts and realizations that lie at the end.
