OMPR and the Wrongest Person in the World (it's Present Perfect) · 2:48am Nov 23rd, 2021

Just a short blast from the One Man's Pony Ramblings past this time. See, back when I was doing reviews on my review blog but when I wasn't doing reviews on my review blog, sometimes I'd talk about whatever the newest episode had brought us. Not reviews of them, per se, but more just, "here's some stuff I thought about while watching the latest installment of pony." That, and posting all the Carrot Tops I could find, because obviously.

Anyway, I was glancing over some of these episode blatherings, and when I poked my nose down into the comments on the Season 5 finale (i.e. "Starlight Glimmer tries to destroy the time-space continuum because her childhood friend was bad at writing letters") post, I found this gem:

PP, I love you, but I'd say history didn't exactly vindicate you on this one.

(Incidentally, I'm pretty sure I've never made any hilariously wrong predictions. No, don't bother looking, you definitely won't find any, it'll just be a waste of your time, honest)

What I learned from this is that PresentPerfect (one word) is Present Perfect (two words) elsewhere

And also, as always, that he's a loveably wrong lovable idiot lol.

Starlight Glimmer being, of course, third best pony behind Ponkers and Izzy.

It’s weird to look back on the season five finale as ancient.

Present’s a good dude, and I really enjoy his company and brightening his day by sending him pictures of batponies now and again since he loves them so much.

helluva way to commemorate blog #100

He does? I'll have to send him lots too!

IIRC, ponychan (hey, remember ponychan? That was another thing!) used to have a code written specifically to mess up a few peoples' names, e.g. randomly changing Ion_Sturm to Ion-Strum or Ion-Storm. I don't remember if it changed PP having a space or not, but I'm 99% sure I remember it including "Present Prefect."

It is weird, but one of the things I've always liked about fandoms (in general, not just pony fandoms) is how they can make reading something a few years old feel like excavating an ancient ruin.

PP is a legitimately great dude, so please don't make him feel sad by sending him batponies.

Everyone knows he only likes it when you send him thestrals.

blog #100 party everyone get in here and celebraaaaaate

Incidentally, I'm pretty sure I've never made any hilariously wrong predictions.

Right before/at the beginning of S3, a friend confidently predicted that Twilight would soon become an Alicorn based on narrative bits he’d noticed in the season premiere. I guaranteed him it absolutely wouldn’t happen for a number of very good reasons I listed for him in a public place.

Steeeeeee-rike.

Yes, PP's name changed like that. There was also Pav Feira/Pav Fiera.

I too enjoy putting PresentPerfect on blast for his wrong opinions, and I approve of this blog.

This post made by thestral gang.

I feel like I’m missing a joke, does PP like thestrals or not? Is this part of some meme or old site joke?

5610294
Oh cool, that would be really I interesting to look at. Do remember where it was? Ona forum or underneath a blog post on this site?

Batpone Bestpone gang gang rise up

He loves them, but acts like he doesn't because of a prank involving a piñata that went slightly too far at Pacific PonyCon 2014. It's a pretty long story TBH, but Admiral Biscuit has a good blog post about it somewhere with lots of pictures of the entire affair.

In Present's defense, I'm going to dig up some of my own, earlier, even more wrong statements from back before I based my blog titles on Magic cards: Here I proposed that Twilight might not get wings in the Season 3 finale, and ten days later I followed it up with this gem:

Note how the true god of all Western animation, the divine Status Quo, will likely rescind Twilight's flight privileges by the end of the episode.

I was young and foolish then, and now I am older. :derpytongue2:

and I don't expect we'll see Starlight Glimmer ever again.

🔥 For God's sake, Present Perfect, why the hell couldn't you have been right about this one? 😠 It would have saved some of us so much bother.

Curse you!

Yes, and it took me forever to realize that had happened.

I am legitimately floored that anyone remembers anything from those days, most of all myself.

Everyone knows he only likes it when you send him thestrals.

Curse you.

I know, right?

This show always had such a pacing problem with its finales but good globs of gopher guts, S5 is one of the worst examples. Honestly, I wonder if the writers weren't constantly in the dark if they were going to get another season or not is why that resolution was so rushed. The worst part about Starlight Glimmer was speedrunning her redemption arc, from her angst about Sunburst being restricted to like three sentences, to sticking her return to Our Town in a goddamn montage and just zooming through what should have taken like three episodes.

5610379
Anti-batpony solidarity forever. Stay strong, my fellow PP.

5610392
That was her defeat and her acknowledging it and starting to make up. Her redemption arc was the following series.
It's true that they didn't do it very well - Sunset Shimmer's was far better - but in a TV series with an ensemble cast the focus is all over the place. Sunset was at least the main protagonist in her film.

5610393
No, her redemption arc was the aforementioned going to her village and making restitution to and seeking atonement from her victims. Which took about three seconds of song montage.

Everyone knows he only likes it when you send him thestrals.

I shall call them nightwing ponies until the day I expire.

You were actually correct. It was reality that got it wrong. :trollestia:
