TCompanion

all extremely different stories! but every single one of them got the same result! i thought the thing was broken, so i tried putting in fics by other fimfic writers, and instantly started to get authors that were not the author i kept getting for every single one of my works.

so apparently i am agatha christie. i have never read any of her books. i have no idea what this means.

Her most famous character was Poirot.

It's been Agatha all along!

It gave me Agatha Christie too.

So did i, not really sure what that says about us lol

I put in a couple of the things I wrote, things that have what I consider to be vastly different styles, and I also got Agatha Christie, so... maybe it is just broken?

First Try: Agatha Christie
Second Try: Agatha Christie
Third Try: Agatha Christie
Fourth Try: Anne Rice
Fifth Try: Agatha Christie
Sixth Try: Agatha Christie

I... I don't know what this means.

huh, i put in a work by two different fimfic authors and got chuck palahniuk and arthur c. clarke. maybe agatha christie ends up being the most frequent?

It means shun the outsider! SSSSSHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNN!

5538554
Maybe the program defaults to that one.

It does that a lot based on length more than hard evidence of style, in my experience with that site.

The horror, the horror! There's a problem with one of the zynnias!

Agatha Christie across the board for me. Not what I expected — I'm anything but an iconic mystery writer, I'm afraid — but I'll gladly take it.

That being said, the frequency with which her name has appeared in this blog's comments seems somewhat suspect. Perhaps we have a mystery on our hands after all?

EDIT: this comment got compared to P.G. Wodehouse. I had little to no idea who he was less than a minute ago, but at least I've finally found a comparison other than Christie.

I got Agatha Christie for everything of mine that I tested, which is odd. I'm quite certain one of them used to compare to Heinlein. I think it broke.

I'm getting an even mix of Christie and Anne Rice, the author of Interview with a Vampire. I'm not sure how to feel about that.

I am apparently... uh, also Agatha Christie, based on both of the two most recent complete entries in Ostraca. But Anne Rice for the fragment after and Arthur Clarke for the three complete entries before. And the fragment before that. Aaand the complete entry at the start. So, huh.
...But if I put _all_ the chapters in in one combined paste, it goes back to Agatha Christie.

Let me try sticking some old, pre-pony (file last modified 2009-12-14, apparently) fanfiction of mine (which, huh, running a count now apparently got to ~14 kilowords; I'd not realized it was that long) in...
...Okay, that also gives Agatha Christie.

So. Huh.
What exactly am I doing that's like Agatha Christie?

...Hm. Estee, based on a ~10 kiloword sample, apparently also writes like Agatha Christie.
...And ~5 kilowords of GaPJaxie, also Agatha Christie.
...~10 kilowords of Chessie (admittedly, on which I was an editor), also Agatha Christie.
...Also ~16 kilowords of Somber (which I wasn't on the team for).

Okay, so do just a lot of people write like Agatha Christie?
...Wait, except I am picking authors I've read a fair bit from. Uh. Hm. Possible selection bias?
...But looking at the comments, other people do appear to get Agatha Christie a lot too. I mean, people I'm reading comments from on a blog by an author I've read who also got Agatha Christie, but I think the selection bias hypothesis only goes so far.
So... yeah. Don't know what's going on there. [shrugs]
