November 22, 2013. I decided to publish the first two chapters of a dumb idea that had been rattling around in my head.
That idea was Long Road to Friendship .
It’s been seven years since I started that story—that universe now. That version of Sunset Shimmer and all her friends have accumulated over 600,000 words total in that time. Would be more if I didn’t move so slow.
I just wanted to take this time to acknowledge Long Road to Friendship ’s seventh birthday, since seven is such an important number in the series. I never thought it would catch on the way it did. I don’t think I originally intended to take it as seriously as I did. But, so many of you loved it, and I came to love it. I keep saying Sunset of Time is my favorite, but this is the world I keep playing in. And with a Russian translation, French translation (and I assume Spanish translation), a robust TVTropes page (that still makes me giddy) and a hard cover book, it’s clear what my name will be forever attached to. I’m not complaining though. As imperfect as this story is, it’s a good story.
I had something planned for today to help celebrate LRtF, but due to me moving and now not having internet for the last... three weeks (I am typing this ob my phone), it’s not ready, and even if it was, I can’t post it. So it’ll have to wait.
That’s my short nostalgia blog! Also an excuse to post something just to say that I’m not dead! Yet! Next blog will hopefully be my Spectacular Seven Volume IV announcement. In the meantime, be smart and stay safe this week.
