Be still, sad heart! and cease repining; Behind the clouds is the sun still shining.

You probably know how this sort of thing goes. There you are, mowing your grass on a day that can't decide whether to shine or drizzle on you, a few years and counting into your non-writing streak. Whatever thoughts you're having are at the expense of your lawnmower picking a fight with every passing tuffet and losing.

    Tyomnaya strana

Just as alicorns descend upon parched wastelands bearing storms and seeds, so too do kindly translators upon my horsewords. Dark Country's received a Russian translation by the kind efforts of

    Stellarum voces

A jolly update for folk who like either fanfic readings or The Motion of the Stars, and a downright rapturous one for folk who like both. My name is R has brought their vocal talent to bear on the story, complete with images and background music to help

    On Brains

A nice breezy dialogue to ease in with:

CARABAS’ COMMON SENSE: So, a hypothetical conservation for you.
CARABAS: Two lines in and we’ve already got fictional discourse nested in the initial fictional discourse. Gosh, I must just love to live dangerously.

If you've got a better storytelling technique than Vikings crashing in stage left, I'd like to hear it · 4:50pm Jun 13th, 2020

"Carabas, why," might be your question. My answer will be, as it is for most things, "Blame Monochromatic."

These fifteen-hundred words of unmitigated nonsense were written for the Pride and Positivity event, which is still accepting entries (and which'll donate to worthy causes in the name of these entries) for the rest of June. If you've something in mind that'd fit with the event, consider submitting it!

Keep a watchful eye on that Completed tag as well. It works fine as a finished piece, and I'd like to make more headway on Legends before contemplating other things. But I'm sure there's plenty of ways yet to play around with the best horses as well as make history weep with rage. :raritywink:

:applejackconfused: But where are the horses?

Zoom in on that picture and check out the detail on the axe head. There's a discreet horse. :raritywink:

A unicorn even!

Why haven't I read the comics yet, every snippet I see from them's pure sunlit perfection.

5283418
Tell you what, Vikings atop unicorns. Two good flavours working wonderfully together.

A unicorn axe head! I have found my ancestors!

5283440
An excellent lineage!

5283448
Along with being Scottish and Irish, I am near perfection.

I was hoping somebody would make a story to go with that picture. Rarity's rocking that outfit.

5283404
Horse or not, that's a pretty sweet image. Where did you get it? Commission?

5283533
Isn't it bonny. Norse fashion is in this season, and every season for that matter.

5283534
Maxima drew it, based on the chat screencapped in Mono's Twitter thread, and graciously gave permission for it to be used here.

I take full responsibility, you’re welcome.

Look everyone, she's not denying it. You know who to blame.

I do look forward to seeing what else you may do with this setting. It's been wonderfully ludicrous thus far.

5283439
When the comics are good, they're amazing.

5283694
I shan't lie, I've got half of a scene sketched out for whatever next chapter might follow on from what's published. Alfred the Great is a long-suffering man.

Now we need vikingifications of the rest of the Mane Six.

Oh, neat! :)
I should be able to get to it in the next few hours, if nothing else comes up, and look forward to it. :)

Eplamerki, Bleikur Baka, Ósvífinn, and Regnbogastopp could only ever improve things by their inclusion. :pinkiehappy:

5284310
Thank you, and I hope it satisfies!

5284318
Thanks! :)

...Also, interesting names, at least according to Google Translate. :D

You really should--there’s plenty of good stuff in ‘em. Especially Incidental Background Mare #9.
