The Blog I've Been Putting off for a Year · 2:52am Feb 11th, 2020

Long story short, I'm basically done here.

I think it's obvious at this point that I'm not going to be putting up any new chapters or stories any time soon. At the time of this blog post, it's been about eight months since I published anything, and before that, it was nearly a full year. I'm sorry that it is this way, but I simply have very little motivation to write these kinds of stories anymore. There's a multitude of reasons that go into this, but I don't want to focus on the negatives, I want to focus on the positives! :pinkiehappy:

First of all, I want to thank YOU. Yes, you, the one reading these words. To those that liked, favorited, commented, and read my stories, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I had a (mostly) wonderful time reading what all of you had to say about my stories. I loved posting the (not so) Daily Dosage of Cuteness blogs, and I especially loved reading how you guys loved them so much. I still may post the random Daily Dosage of Cuteness blog every so often just because I know some of y'all love seeing tons of pics of adorable pones being adorable.

Secondly, I want to thank the pre-readers at Equestria Daily for allowing some of my stories to be put up on their website; that truly meant a lot to me. You took the time to review my submitted work and helped me grow as a writer by pushing me to do better and be better. You guys holding that high standard for the site gave me the drive to learn how to be a better writer, so thank you all for that.

Thirdly, to those that helped me develop my stories, edit them, and proofread them, you have my deepest thanks and gratitude. I wouldn't have been able to make it this far without you. I want to thank Ponysopher in particular; his wordplay and editing skills are far better than my own, and he spent countless hours working on making my stories far better than I could have made them on my own. I got first round the next time we go to Westbrook, bro!

Fourthly, I want to thank MrNobody47 for drawing the wonderful cover art that you see on several of my stories. He did work for I'll Always be Here for You, Snuggles and Cuddles, I'll Do Anything for You, and a lot more. Bro, your work was the one thing that inspired me most. The art that you create evokes so many feelings within me, feelings I've used to improve the stories you made art for. Thank you for all that you've done for me, bud; you've made such a huge impact on my life and those of our fans that I'll never be able to fully repay you. All I can really do is buy you a lot of good beer when you come down south to hang out with me next time!

BTW, remember Pocketscoots? :twilightsheepish: I loved how she fit so perfectly into your shirt's pocket back at Bronycon. Hope she's still doing well up there!

As for my incomplete stories, I'll Do Anything for You, My Filly, Nightshine, and From Lost to Loved, those have been placed on hiatus for now. I've written 500 words or so into the next Nightshine chapter and about 1k into the next Scoots chapter, but it's just so damn hard to sit down and force myself to put words on the page that have no love behind them. I simply won't allow myself to put up content that is mediocre at best; that's why it's been so long in between updates. With no drive to write about an adorable bat pony family or the conclusion to Twilight and Rainbow's budding relationship, there's a decent chance that I'll never write the ending to those stories. However, I hate myself for not finishing those stories, so there is a small chance that I'll come back and finish one of those chapters and upload it. I may or may not continue those stories until they are finished.

As for my other stories, I will not be taking them down. I've seen how this affects everyone and I don't want to be another writer who fucks over their followers and readers.

For those that helped send me to Bronycon three times in a row, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart; I will always cherish those memories that, without you, would not have been possible. With all this being said, I'm not going to disappear from the website completely, I'm still going to be semi-active here.

For a personal update: I got into the IT career field last year! I've been working for a little over half a year with one of the biggest tech companies in the world. I managed to pay off all of my debt and I'm on track to buy my first house this July! I'm really excited for what the future holds for me, and I will always cherish my time on this website.

Lastly, TwiDash is best ship. :twilightblush::heart::rainbowkiss:

PS: Feel free to ask any questions you want; I'll do my best to answer them in a timely fashion.

We'll miss you.

Sad to see a amazing Author go. Need to save the storys via txt fime so i can re-read em in the future.

you will be sorely missed friend.

Sad to see you go also 1 idea could be letting someone else take care of your stories but that would be only if you do not want to finish them at all but that would be a last resort but i do hope you find the drive to continue them.

also how would 1 do that? i would love to save some of Foals Errand's stories

Damn, I just realized you've been on the site since 2012! Holy crap!

Hmm...unfortunate.
Though I suppose it's probably the best for the long run. Maybe all you need is some time away from writing to regain your spark. I'm not saying that will 100% happen, but a possibility. In either case, your mental health is the most important.
I do appreciate that you'll keep your stories on here, as there are still many others who've yet to enjoy them.

From one Scribe to another, you will be missed. Though, it is sad to send off another who appreciates TwiDash. :rainbowlaugh::twilightblush:
Take care of yourself, my friend.

Sad to see you stop posting stories and updates.

I use Calibre with the Fan FIc plugin. Works great for making epub files off fimfiction.

It's sad to see you go. Good luck moving forward

If you go to a story, there's a download button on the bottom, next to the published date. I read longer stuff on my kindle so I use it all the time.

Can't say this isn't disappointing to hear, but if your muse has left suppose there's not much to be done about it other than wish you luck in the future.
I'll Always Be Here For You was one of the early TwiDash ships I found, plus had Scootadopt which was a huge fan of all those years ago (and still like today).
Might I suggest that, if you don't find any motivation to work on any of your incomplete stories in say 6 months (or whatever you feel is a reasonable timeframe) then you post an outline of where you were going with them. Personally while a proper finish one day would be nice, if you don't think it's likely you'll touch them again I'd prefer the bare bones version to eternal hiatus.

So . . . you've basically lost interest in this fandom? :rainbowhuh: Is that right?

Im really sad to see you go and that Nightshine and scoots may never seen ends to their stories but i do understand at least you are leaving your work up for us to re-read as we want

You, and the work you have done, shall not be forgotten.

It's sad to see you go, but hopefully, we shall see each other again.
Never forget that you are always welcome back in this community, and we'll be waiting. Although I do understand if you don't find the drive to finish those stories.
Good luck on your future journeys, and may happiness always be with you.

Fair winds to you Abyss, It's been fun reading all these fluffy stories you've created.

We will all miss you abyss you brought me joy with your stories. And yes Twidash is best ship and I wish you luck

JMP

Farewell, and have a great life, then. Everyone moves on at some point, I suppose.

I will miss your story of my little filly nightshine a lot and not knowing how it ends, but you have to do what you have to do good luck in what you have planned and I hope you write again soon you will be miss

You're not leaving the fandom as a whole, are you? :fluttershysad:

Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I understand that you might not finish your stories and I accept that but I am very very sad to see it happen to you my #1 favorite author on the site. PS might I suggest that if you decide not to finish the stories you make a post offering for somepony else to finish it..

I congratulate you on your degree and debt removal, mister author.:pinkiehappy:

May your future provide you with the challenge and satisfaction of a job well done.:moustache:

As for the stories here? Thank you for your work, sharing the slice of life, romance and insight into an alien society that many here have cherished through the years. I shall be thankful when the updates come, as writing isn't exactly easy - and quality has indeed been one of your hallmarks amongst your entire library.

So, what are the various negative things that caused you to lose interest and/or gain disdain for writing MLP:FIM fanfiction? I haven't really kept up with your life that much. However, you were one of the first authors I ever engaged with on here (specifically because of your clopfics.) I'm curious about what ended up happening.

I feel this way sometimes, too. While I'm nowhere near as prolific or as popular as you are, I've been on the burnout train as well. It took months for me to update a chapter, a 1500 word chapter. Before that, it was years between major stories. So I get it. You love your ponies, you love your readers, but you're exhausted. You want to move on to bigger, better things. You want to see big mountains, big oceans... wait, that's from the Wizard of Oz.

Anyway, whatever you end up doing, thanks for all of the awesome stories, and while I think AppleDash is *still* best ship, TwiDash was always my second favorite.

Godspeed, friend!

Sad to see you go, however I agree if your heart isn’t in it you are making the right call. I hope you will one day either finish your story about that adorable bat pony family and finish up the Scootaloo being adopted by Twilight and Rainbow Dash as they begin to start their lives together.

5200978
No he's not. He just doesn't feel the same passion for writing stories that he did.

He'll still be around, just not really writing anymore.

Gonna miss you bud. And once I get the time, I'll follow you on twitch

I hope your stories will still be here I might read a couple more

5201007

As for my other stories, I will not be taking them down. I've seen how this affects everyone and I don't want to be another writer who fucks over their followers and readers.

There's no rush.

Love your work here and everything you’ve done! You bring so much love and personality to this community and I hope you continue to stay somewhat involved! Good luck with your life and promising career! :yay:

5201008 Thanks for clearing that up.

5201046
Don’t think I didn’t see that ninja edit. :ajbemused:

While i'm sad to see you quit as a writer. I can understand your reasoning, and you have my full support in whatever choices you choose to make. (Sorry if there are any spelling/grammar issues. English is my third language. )

Hnnng, my heart hurts now.. :fluttershysad:
Regardless, I can't thank you enough for all of the content you've provided for us. Glad to see you won't be leaving the site entirely at least, the DDOC always pointed me towards some fantastic artists I hadn't discovered yet.
Cheers!

Understandable, but still oh so disappointing, I adored Nightshine, such a wholesome story.

So long Partner. we are all gonna miss you. it's sad to see you go but we will always remember you.

Be well, and enjoy the next chapter of your life!

Always tough to see great writers lose interest. I wish you luck with your career!

As somecreature that understands waxing and waning interests, I can get why you are stepping away. I love your works, Abyss... and in a completely platonic way due to the glimpse of the individual that wrote them given, I can say I have nothing but a brother's love for you and hope that you find a calling that let's you put pen to paper again.

See you around on the 'net, and even if you just become a non-creative fan, you are still part of this family in my heart and eyes.
