TEK Hiatus is done! · 9:10pm Mar 14th, 2019
Hi everyone! Just a quick blogpost to catch ya'll up on stuff, if you're so inclined.
TL;DR TEK was on hiatus, and I'm bringing it back again, and basically the best hiatuses are the one's you didn't even know were going on
You upon seeing this blog.
About two months ago, near the end of January, I finally reached PEAK MENTAL/EMOTIONAL BURN-OUT and it was pretty bloody. I had a quiet but emotional vent on Tumblr, and after I decided I could not continue living my life that way, I quietly closed off my patreon, put most of my fics on hiatus, and then decided writing needed to stop and I needed a real, full-stop break.
And I did have my break! And you know what came out of it? A happier Mono; "You're Your Own Worst Enemy" which is arguably the first story I've posted in forever where I allowed myself to write a story for fun, regardless of its quality; and I even did a ton of work on the EL VN I've been working on for a while now.
Patreon is also back up with everything adjusted to work with my anxiety and the like! And you know what else?! I EVEN WOKE UP AT 5 AM TO WRITE TODAY!! 5 AM!!!!!
So, yeah.
I was debating whether or not to post this, but I've always been brutally transparent with you all, for better and for worse, so I figure it's good to keep that going. I don't want to dissapear on you guys, and I don't like keeping you in the dark about what's going on, so here I am.
Regarding TEK, I'm hoping to update it soon, and I'm also thinking of adding a "PREVIOUSLY IN THE ENCHANTED KINGDOM" note to catch y'all up. Would that be something y'all would like me to do? Also, what are your thoughts on smaller chapters?
Anyway, that's mostly it for now. Just wanted to be able to say that I'm working on getting better day by day, and that apparently my will to see this goddamn fic finished is stronger than my burn-out, so thank you all for sticking by me through the bad and the good c:
Also, now that y'all are here, I want to use this moment TO PROMO THESE KICKASS EL FAN SONGS.

Yus.
Welcome home, Mono!
happy mono best mono
Happier Monos are exactly what we want. And not just because they're more likely to write either. So glad you're doing better. Those fan songs...
This is why taking breaks is extremely important most of the time. Glad to hear you're back in the game, can't wait to get more of that sauce.
Also big ups for giving a little shout out to my man NeverLastStanding, and not to forget the other one, a full blown symphony to go with TEL ♥

I'm so happy... I might have to reread TEL.
Glad to hear you're doing better, Mono! As always, you take care of you first. We, your loyal minions, gladly await!
Awesome. Life is just less colorful without your stories.
As for chapter length, I feel like 7k-12k is the best for this kind of story. But tek is not tel, and I guess the shorter chapters also worked. And I've come to love a few stories with short but (somewhat) frequent chapters over the last year. It's just different, but not necessarily better or worse.
Also, 5am? That's crazy, I prefer not getting up before 8!
Great to see you back!
I don't think a recap is necessary, especially when the story left off in the middle of an arc. It'd be really out of place for people who weren't around for the hiatus.
I have no issue with shorter chapters. I recall you mentioned before that you wanted to incorporate some writing techniques from Crimson Lips, and the mix of short and long chapters work there.
OOOOohhhhh did you do anything fun on your break?
Did you break things? Thats why they call it a break right?
Awesome to hear you happier! That's a trend I look forward to keeping up with. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you're feeling better!
The music is awesome, and so is having you back, Mono
So glad to see you back Mono, always a pleasure to see your smiling face.
Good to hear your doing better.
Glad to hear it.
Your own worst enemy was fantastic. Read it to my girlfriend she burst out laughing too.
Glad to hear that you're doing better, Mono. :>
I can't believe how amazing these songs are! The first one is my favorite. But they're both fantastic either way
A happy and healthy writer is an engaged writer. Chapter length should fit content to keep the reader immersed. For published books 10k to 20k is fairly good chapter length.
Maybe a blog post with a recap. Recaps in story’s always break the flow horribly.
. . . Now I am imagining Christopher Judge saying “Previously on The Enchanted Kingdom” in his wonderfully sexy, sexy voice. . . .
Happy to hear you're feeling better. Keep it up, all the best.
Get hyped for happy Mono! :D
Almost a week late, but HOIP!
Glad to hear that you’re doing better
