Synopsis
Spike accidentally invites Ember and Thorax to Ponyville on the same day! Confident that the two new leaders will not get along, he does all he can to keep them apart and cover the fact that the other is there.
Oh boy... Going to take a miracle to pull this one off...
Calling it now: they've been getting along just fine even before the events of the episode.
EDIT: Apparently they've never crossed paths before the events of the episode.
Welp that never turns out well for the main

it's already out? Because I want to know what happened.
Well, this is going to be a sit-though. If as not-good as I think it will be, this might be the first episode I’ll skip.
Hah, that sounds like a set-up for a serious comedy of errors.
Oh boy... this post will get flooded soon.
Spike..... just why?
Thirty seconds in, and Spike's already sown the seeds for disaster in his own episode. Why am I not surprised.
I'm curious as to why he would be worried about it.
Is there really a difference between Twilie and Glimglam?
Ember: "Hey, Twilight!"
Starlight = Mini Twilight confirmed!
Edit: Oh gosh, she did it again!
OH GOD! THE CRINGE
That pony really likes chairs.
THAT DAMNED MAP
So now the map can call Spike with his... scales?
Allllllrighty then.
4640351
And his "cutie mark" is his head.
Right. Gotcha.
I don't know about Thorax, but I'd be afraid too if I invited bae#1 over into bae#2's territory. Or maybe this just says something about Spike and Thorax...
Honestly I think I might skip this episode. Not because I dislike the Idea which sounds really promising. I like Ember and Thorax. I am interested in seeing how they will play off each other as fresh rulers of their perspective races.
So why am I skipping it?
STARLIGHT
I have had it with this Starlight heavy season. Last week they changed Spikes role with Starlight and now I bet the original script for this one called for Twilight. But, in the hopes we will like her more so no one complains when they sack the mane six, they decided to change it.
Calling it now: the friendship problem is between him, Ember, and Thorax.
UPDATE: I was right.
A rogue group of Changelings who still feed off of love?
Urge to write rising. . . .
OMG the Twilight/Starlight gag.
4640361
"You both look and act so much alike."
I feel inclined to agree.
4640355
The point you decided to skip the episode just because of one character means your criticism or any you may have is no longer valid.
4640304
Yeah, I don't know what's up with these early release dates and Canada's scheduling. Ask them, not me.
Aaaaaaaaaand DBZ mode engage.
And APPARENTLY Changelings can change into species other than ponies.
Ladies and gents, revise your headcanons.

Hints at a Changeling Civil War? Please make this happen MLP!
4640370
I'm guessing this will come up in the finale. Thorax vs Chrysalis with pony/dragon assistance.
Tyranny is good advice.
4640366
Oh, I'm sorry I'm sick and tired of seeing a character that I don't like in so many episodes in this lack listed season. That she always whines about being judged for her past sins when no one of the show has ever held a grudge against her or that she was rewarded for her various crimes. Please, forgive me for voicing my complaints as I have watched characters I enjoy like Rarity get shit on so that Starlight can seem better.
Look I am tired of watching her. I saw the picture that was posted with this and I am saying enough. I'm walking away from the show and just watching reruns.
That episode was strictly meh.
4640371
YES!
Thorax x Ember anypony?
4640380
Hmm... Yeah, I feel like it was just an attempt to bring the two characters back into the picture for a limited period of time.
...Though it could also be a setup for a changeling civil war later with Ember getting involved. That'd be pretty cool.
Okay, so are we gonna get any kind of explanation about how changelings can turn into other things besides ponies? Because why didn't Chrysalis do that at any point when she was threatened? What was stopping her from turning into a bear or something whenever she was in a corner?
4640369
Not surprised at that since Thorax originally took on Spike's form in his introductory episode.
4640388
As far as I recall, we only learned changelings could turn into things other than ponies when Thorax was first introduced at the Crystal Empire—he turned into a rock (and Spike). That basically makes anything fair game.
But you do bring up a really good point that Chrysalis could have used that ability herself. Probably just plot convenience that she 'forgot'? Otherwise she likely would have destroyed them.
4640386
Someone hasn't seen the synopses for the rest of the season . . .
The renegade changeling faction led by Thorax's brother is the subject of an upcoming episode. Trixie and Starlight have to convince them to come into the fold.
i loved how this episode played out. not only did it show the childish side of spike with his thought process but it show a good mature moment between thorax and ember, also i can definitely see thorax going to ember for advice and ember going to thorax fo friendship.
4640351
So can the Bloodstone Scepter. The map's magic probably works in a similar way.
4640396
...Nope, did not see that. I generally try not to go looking for those (don't worry, not gonna bitch about spoilers).
That'll certainly be an interesting episode.
4640404
Truth.
I can understand Spike's anxiety. I kind of went through the opposite at one point. I had two friends, introduced them to each other, and they did not get along. I don't remember the specifics since I was in single digits (eight or nine), but I remember it was unpleasant and being upset.
It's kind of nice knowing that things would work out.
I love how Ember has trouble differentiating Twilight and Starlight. It's funny and natural enough for her character, and even meta if you want to see it that way.
And here we have the first international trade between dragons and changelings: Ember picks up some empathy, and Thorax gets a spine. Personally, I would've preferred to get more interaction between them in place of Spike's somewhat less entertaining attempts to keep them separated.
Also, DWK is right: the common sense dial is always pointing either in Twilight's or Spike's direction.
4640378
Good riddance, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
By the way, Starlight AND Twilight feature prominently in this episode. But I can understand how a piece of fanart would turn you off from watching an episode... wait.
4640395
There are probably few things in Equestria more powerful than a changeling queen, and Chrysalis is arrogant enough to dismiss them out of hoof for any use other than infiltration. Thorax, as we saw in this episode and in all his other appearances to date . . . does not have that problem. The nebbish.
"There's a rogue group of changelings who still feed on love!"
Welp, let's see who fics that first!
4640410
Are you sure? I couldn't tell them apart.

Seems recently Starlight has come to be Twilight's entourage. She really doesn't have a job right now other than "help Twilight". She graduated but doesn't really know what to do with herself so she has just fallen into assistant #2 to Twilight. Honestly that is good for Spike who now actually has time to be doing more to explore his character other than being just Twilight's assistant. He is still her #1 assistant but he isn't the only one so he doesn't have to do all of Twilight's dirty work any more. He has been at his best since Starlight has been added to the cast. Today was him screwing up (again) but it wasn't the same cringe inducing incident like Princess Spike or Equestrian Games and he didn't share full blame for the screw up.
