A comforting thought for Anthony Scaramucci on his first day of unemploment · 7:36pm Jul 31st, 2017

As far as mayflies are concerned, you were the White House's Director Of Communications for ten generations.

So refreshingly saying exactly what you think about everything suddenly isn't the political way to go?

Ha ha haha what.

It's the silver lining to Trump's horrible presidency: I have never been so entertained by politics in my life. It's not much, given that I'm probably about to lose my healthcare, and I have a thyroid disorder so I have... not fun choices coming up. But hey, I'll take what I can get.

I've watched enough of The Apprentice to recognize that many contestants were cast for the sake of drama. They had no chance to 'win' the show (and I suspect the winner was usually chosen during the casting phase), but their firings could fill out the episode count. They were there to annoy people. Speak over their fellow players, ignore everyone's plans, deliver nasty confessionals (and once they saw said nasty confessionals in the actual episode, promptly complain about the editing), and strut their egos about until Donald finally fired them with about three episodes to go because the audience was getting sick of waiting for it.

So none of this is exactly new to me. I'm just not used to the grind of hourly episodes.

At this rate, I fully expect Trump to end his presidency with vacant staff positions, having exhausted the entire intersection of people he'll willingly hire and people who'll willingly work for him. We may see the first Twitter bot ever appointed to communications director.

I googled scaramucci because I couldn't belie-was moderately surprised at this turn of events.

Autocomplete thinks he's a fictional character. Autocomplete might be right.

Have you seen that Survivor edit going around of the Trump staff? It's only a matter of time before more islanders get voted off.

And it's what, 7 months in? Good lord.

Technically not true--he wasn't officially going to start in the role until August 15, apparently. So he managed to serve for -15 days? I guess?

Autocomplete thinks he's a fictional character.

And a rather stock clown at that. But up until his New Yorker interview (WARNING! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!), he was probably best known for doing the fandango.

Well, I did that for us to get back on track, we needed to get some actual crazies in the White House so that we could reaffirm what actual insanity looks like and learn to deal with it accordingly.

Could we maybe have George W. back, please? I mean, things weren't great, but at least they made sense.

At this point, some of those positions may be vacant simply because they were never filled. The White House still has a lot of hiring to do, which may be part of why there's so many holdovers present.

I recently saw a group of people screaming online for the immediate firing of one person who was directly accused of maliciously being in the nation's way as a holdover from President Obama's administration. She has held that position for twenty-five years. She's a holdover from the original Bush administration.

I have never been so entertained by politics in my life.

I know, right? At this rate, I'm gonna run out of popcorn!

I've read somewhere he read those firings off a teleprompter sitting on the table, disguised as a phone. Maybe things are so chaotic now because he's having to actually make the decision to fire anybody himself in his life?

I was just today reading an article in the Atlantic regarding the short-lived career of Steve Castle Anthony Scaramucci and . . . well, here's a quote:

"Later that day, The New Yorker published an interview in which Scaramucci railed against Priebus, calling him a felon and 'fucking paranoid schizophrenic.' (He also accused Bannon of engaging in autofellatio, presumably figuratively.)"

Presumably figuratively. Because in this clusterfuck, we just can't be sure.

Although you'd think that if Bannon could, he'd be a lot less grumpy.

We may see the first Twitter bot ever appointed to communications director.

I suspect Spicey may date that occurrence in the past, not the future.

he was probably best known for doing the fandango.

Well, he admittedly did have the hair for it.

It gets even better, Estee.

Scaramucci's official first day on the job wasn't until August 15th.

He managed the neat trick of being nega-employed, employed for negative sixteen days.

Man, this presidency is like a live-action metaphor.

I'm still worryingly convinced that our President is not a well man. 45 is our oldest President on taking office at 70, and is showing worrying signs of sundowning under the stress of the office.

Those of us old enough to remember the last years of Reagan's presidency may note some similarities.

Does he do the fandango

At least he's not emploding anymore

Scaramucci...Scaramucci...

Was not he a James Bond villain?

Jim Sheridan on Twitter:

When Trump said he'd "Give every American a Job" I didn't realise there's was just one job & they'd all get a turn..

4619621 I swear to god this is some early writer's satire brought to life.

Oh sweet fancy Celestia, it got better again.

Apparently in that brief and wondersome liminal period between the firing of Priebus and the firing of Tony Mooch, a prankster thought it would be great to email Scaramucci pretending to be Priebus.

And Mooch bought the whole thing. Hook, line, and sinker.

Money quote:

You know what you did. We all do. Even today. But rest assured we were prepared. A Man would apologize.” Fake Priebus wrote back: “I can’t believe you are questioning my ethics! The so called ‘Mooch’, who can’t even manage his first week in the White House without leaving upset in his wake. I have nothing to apologize for.” Actual Scaramucci responded: “Read Shakespeare. Particularly Othello. You are right there. My family is fine by the way and will thrive. I know what you did. No more replies from me.”

I want to know what Count Moochie Flagrante knows that Priebus did. I want to know that very much.

I swear half the people Trump employs sound like a bad mob stereotype or cheap James Bond villains.

I love that the New York Post posted a Survivor: White House picture on Friday, and it is already off by two people.

Seriously, though, they are finding ever-new lows.

I think my favorite bit was Trump's tweet that the "White House not in chaos" just a few hours before Scaramucci was kicked off the island.

This adds evidence to my theory that our lives are actually a computer simulation by people in the late 22nd Century who wondered, idly, "What would have happened if Donald Trump won that election back in 2016?"

4619969 So... would that mean I'm a copy of a past veryveryfluttershy or am I just a completely made-up character? I hope it's the former, because that would mean I was a good enough writer to be remembered. Either that or I died in an absolutely fantastic way.

We are living in strange times. I think when I wrote that one story (you know which one) I didn't go too far enough.

Maybe it's time for a sequel.
