NEW HORIZON STORY ALERT

In honor of my 40th birthday — and Friday's appearance on The Barcast (go get those AMA questions in!) — I've cleaned up last round's Writeoff medalist and am inflicting it upon the world!

Administrative Angel

Principal Celestia always has wings in her dreams.

They got her into trouble, once. She let herself believe that they meant she was an angel. Then she grew up, and learned some hard lessons about what being an angel really required.

Now six winged girls have just fought a demon in front of her school. And her phantom wings are itching.

Her life is turning upside down ... and she hasn't even heard about Equestria yet.

Much ink has been spilled on deconstructing ponykind's alicorn rulers (an indulgence to which I am not immune), but the reappearance of Celestia and Luna in Equestria Girls introduces some big questions the series makes no apparent effort to address. This is my effort to fill those gaps — and, along the way, take a fresh look at best princesses from an unusual angle.

It's 100% locked and loaded. However, to avoid having it vanish off the front page in the middle of the night, I'll be posting it when I wake up in the morning. (I'll edit the link into this post when I do.)

Get hype!

Yusssssss

Seriously, that premise sounds awesome. Can’t wait.

Dude...Happy Birthday!!! Glad I stayed up till 5:00 to see this.

Much hype!

Also, happy birthday, man! :pinkiehappy:

Yesss. The best kind of indulgence.

Hype has been got.

You know I actually like to post stuff around like 1 AM Pacific time because then it's up on the front page all night and I wake up to a bunch of notifications which makes me happy.

Them blog tags tho

That cover art tho

Hype received. Looking forward to this, especially since I haven't been able to participate in the Writeoffs of late.

Oh, hello webpage from 1997.

wordely hapens?

All I can think about is "HE ASCENDED THROUGH THE AIR LIKE A DEFENSIVE ANGEL!!!!!!!"

Excited, though! Now to just get myself to read the story...

The funny thing is that I can usually guess your authorship on Writeoff stories based on whether or not my jaw drops. Call it "horizon-dar." I think there were some typos in this one that threw me off. Also there was one time when GGA outfoxed the 'dar. But I'd say about 60% of the time, it works every time. :rainbowwild:

Ah, Quill can get his essay in. :)
