Nocturne of the Firmaments by Belgerum and Penultimate L-Day Blog · 9:27pm Aug 27th, 2012

(This is me on a weekend, only with more frills)

Ages ago, I uploaded a blog where I listed a few of these youtube tracks by Belgerum. Well, it turns out that he's finished them. You marsupials may now have the orgasmic pleasure of listening to a masterfully sexy interpretation of those creepy-ass songs that Lyra insists on playing all throughout Background Pony. Here they be, in order of the elegies' positions in the enchanted symphony of the unsung realm.

Prelude to Shadow

Sunset Bolero

March of Tides

Darkness Sonata

Waltz of Stars

Moon's Elegy

Threnody of Night

Twilight's Requiem

Desolation's Elegy* (*working title)

Dawn's Advent

These tracks were crafted over the course of approximately two to three months. It typically consisted of Belgerum asking me sincere questions about the musical nature of each elegy and me replying with, "I dunno, lulz, make this one sound like Radiohead and that one sound like Animal Collective, I guess." Somehow, he got around my laziness and delayed nature of answering messages and produced this masterpiece. I couldn't be happier. The quality of this stuff absolutely freaks me out. I am seriously not worthy of the creative jazz that marsupials like him come up with.

So, if you like his stuff, go visit his youtube page.

While you're at it, feel free to check out his entire playlist of the Nocturne.

Then, if you're a cool cat, go and hit up his album at BandCamp, where he's doing the Thom Yorke thing and letting you dish out whatever dinero you deem worthy to carry this stuff around in the third hemisphere of your brain. Go on, you know you want to do it, you cool cat, you.

In other news... L - DAY

Yes. We still got this goddam thing lying around the corner. And I do mean lying around the corner. I've got some writing left to do and also a shitton of editing. In a perfect world, I'll have it all finished by August 31, but, well, we all know that we don't live in a perfect world.

I've kind of lost track of all the crap I've written. I've defecated maybe 80 pages of stuff in the last seven days alone. I can't even pretend to guess how many words it's been since the first week of this month. Wasn't there supposed to be some sort of writing challenge thingy in August? I dunno.

Some of you might be pleasantly surprised by what L-Day brings. Some of you may not give a crap. Either way, it's something that I committed myself to, and I intend to deliver, even if it's way later than I had originally intended. Consider it an experiment that's in a league of my own. Hah. See what I did there?

In the meantime, any of you who's interested in the close circles of SS&E's Dr. Peppered alumni, feel free to check out a project being undertaken by the magnificent seven (plus one) over at Spanish Announce Table Goes First. With an idea started by Props, the one and only, Warden has agreed to host a story called The Secret Life of Big Mac. The premise of the train wreck story is for each author to take turns writing a single chapter, which holds promise for great hilarity and holocaust. Come and watch. Props has already written the first chapter, and it's insanely epic. Also stockings.

So, that about covers everything for now. You won't be seeing a written word from me until it's L-Day time. For those marsupials subscribed to me, it should be rather evident once L-Day "arrives." But, nothing will be official until I submit a blog confirming it. Then we can celebrate absurdity in its most distilled form.

Until then, perhaps a tiny preview of L-Day is in order:

Lyra was rolling in a deep puddle of blood, grinning like it was her foalday. "It's so warm! I wish I had a beach ball!"

Oh dear Camus please forgive me,

Woo updates! *Listens to new music*

Okay...Lyra has completely lost her mind. Not that it is any surprise.

Oh god, that quote...

Also, YAY! He finished all the elegies! dl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/emoticons/misc_Lyra.png

Dafuq.

Also, you forgot to make it green.:rainbowwild:

I think I missed something.
Is L-Day a story?
A holiday?
A secret conspiracy to overthrow the government and create a new world order ruled by love and tolerance (and nuclear weapons)?

On the 31st day of the eighth month on the year of the second hiatus
All of fimfiction will become crippled beneath a torrent of words
A wall of text so massive you will shudder beneath its might
But despite your best efforts...

...You will never be prepared.

Oh god, that quote. I remember it, this should be WONDERFUL

:ajsmug: Well, another blog post dedicated to my music. I'm flattered. Really. I'm proud to have contributed something that SS&E approves of.

To anyone who reads this, though, don't believe for a second that SS&E was as vague, lazy, and unhelpful as he portrayed himself. He actually had some good pointers, and was a good source of inspiration for the pieces.

Dear god, what have I witnessed?

A SS&E blog with no princesses?

HA! I beat you to the punch! Downloaded the entire album last night.

And then stuff happened.

I think I came into this a little late... Please don't crucify me. What is L-day?

Epic Nocturne is epic.:heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart:
More reason to follow through with an idea I have for a project based off this story. But
am I really up to it I wonder?

I actually want L-Day really bad now. NOW!

Am I the (plus one)?

So those are the glorious symphonies Lyra is forced to transcribe and endure?

I think that is the best Lyra moment I've seen yet.

Dang, so I guess L-Day isn't the day I get to read an awesome story about Lily.

Oh man, this is going to be epic!

I was actually sort of dissapointed with most of the songs. Granted, they're all good, but most of them don't sound like how I imagined. For example, for Prelude to Shadows, I imagined something more experimental/dissonant/paranoia inducing, sort of like a combination of that version, and something like this but without vocals, of course. The one I will say was amazing was the Moon's Elegy. From the description in the story, I wasn't sure what to think of for a battle march that sounded terrifying and so on, but now I know exactly what it would sound like, and it's incredible.

Personally, I knew this would happen with someone. :pinkiehappy:

While I did try to capture as much of each piece as possible, while retaining the style of the titles, I will say that the movements from the fanfic do not have to be imagined like mine are played. These are simply renditions of mine, and If it suits you, you may imagine them as something entirely different than I did. i simply tried to make a basis for what one version of the pieces might be, not a firm definition of them.

sigh.... I really need to catch up on background pony. It's just so unbelievably long.

spammed stories are a waste

:trollestia:

Prelude To Shadows sounds beautiful and heart-breaking at some points.:fluttershysad:
And the rest is amazing.
Have fun.

This L-day is gonna be an interesting read :pinkiehappy:
*rubs hands excitedly*

Background Pony should be a visual novel, and in there should be these renditions of the Elegies.

You mislabeled most of the songs... >.<

What's L-Day? :pinkiegasp: Is it the day that Lyra plays the last elegy?! :pinkiehappy:YAY!!!
