A Universe in Need of a Name · 5:36pm Aug 8th, 2015
I like to name things. To quote Books of Magic, names have power. That's an old sentiment, going as far back as the days of the Egyptian pharaohs, when things and people were believed to have a special 'true name' that allowed a sorcerer to exert magical control over them. More practically, to name a thing is to define it. Giving something a name allows it to exist more concretely, allows us more clearly to see what it is- and what it is not.
Thus, I feel compelled to give the universe I've brought to life in It's a Dangerous Business, Going Out Your Door and Besides the Will of Evil a name. It has a 'functional' name already: in my head, I've been calling it "the Ponyverse," but that's really just my shorthand to keep track of things. I think it needs a better name than that, but I can't quite think of one.
So I'll put the question to you all. What should the universe in my two long stories be named?
The Bill-verse.
And if you've read the LOTR books, you should know why
Given the traces of J.R.R Tolkien's work, Middle Equestria? Middle Equis
The Trokien Series.
No wait, that's terrible.
The Will vcould be a nem
Hard to find something fitting, but as a starting place I found talath roch to mean something along the lines of plane (as in plane of existence) of horses or plain of horses.
Tried my best, will think on it some more.
How about the W.O.E universe
Will
Of
Evil
Just throwing it out there
Well, your stories are largely inspired by Tolkien, so why not call it the Tolkien-Verse?
Also, have you considered making this series a trilogy?
Maybe not another epic quest or anything, but maybe a one-two-or-three shot that shows Equestria in a thousand years or so and what it is like with the Mane Six as Goddesses and what not.
Just an idea, feel free to ignore it.
Maybe since deer played such a huge role in your universe with them creating the first society and being the original bearers of the Elements, perhaps the deer-verse. Or since they refer to the Supreme Power(s) as the Wills that Draw the World maybe the Wills'-verse.
Trials of Faith.
Hear me out, people! In the first novel, Twilight, Pinkie, and Fluttershy had to have faith in Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow's quest for the Beneviolet. Rarity, in turn, reminded Falalauria of the importance of having faith in the goodness of creatures.
In the second, faith is a long-running theme. Celestia has constant faith in the bearers of the Elements, and that faith is rewarded. The deer elders lack similar faith, and are punished harshly as a result.
Faith is a major theme in this series, and so I propose the above title.
Middle Equestria ;)
Well, since we're now dealing with the Dominion of Ponies, the Dominionverse.
The Deerverse XD
The Dangerous-verse because your first story was Dangerous Business and the second story is fraught with danger.
3304734 Or maybe "Cervi-verse" from the Latin name for deer.
3305194 - Was going to suggest something along those lines myself. I was going to say 'Dangerverse.'
In the second story, at least, Reiziger defines this universe as different from the canon one. So, maybe Reiziger-verse?
Or one of his other names, perhaps?
But Elbert seems like a silly name to me!
Þrymheimr
Akiba-kei
Dord Fiann
Aninnis Aigh
Meneltarma
Earnanæs
Á Sprengisandi
I think I'm gonna have to agree with Starbolt and Zocarik here.
Call it. Thenextia
Thu nex tee uh
It means the next universe. As in one outside of our own universe.
Or you can simply call it
Bob
I got a couple more people in my office into pony-fics through "It's a Dangerous Business". People in the professional publishing business are reading your stuff, JetFire. Just a heads up.
Anyway, "High Equestria" sounds properly majestic.
I havent read those stories, so from an outsider's perspective, Doorverse seems to work.
I second the ideas behind "Middle-Equus," seeing how much of a deep influence Tolkien's works are in this setting. "Dangerverse" is also good, though it might make people believe it to have a slightly different tone than your actual story.
Since one of the most immediately recognizable and influencial aspects of your world is the role and identity of the deerfolk, I also think that something playing off of that would be appropriate: I believe that "Cerviverse" was mentioned, and sounds like a good choice.
Since the Wills that Move the World are a large thematic concern (being the will "beside evil" that is influencing the universe) perhaps the Willworld?

Now that's brilliant.
World that once belonged to the deer.
I would say The Wills-verse sounds appropriate!
