August Update · 1:04am Aug 31st, 2017
Hello! It's been some time. I suppose I should keep everyone abreast of the latest goings-on in my life, which, alas, include no MLP fanfiction.
That's not to say I haven't been busy. In fact, this summer I managed to tick off a pretty important box: I finished a novel I'd been working on for close to two years. It was not the first novel I've written, either, even if I count my long fanfics as novel-type works. As I may have mentioned before, I have for years now been working on and planning a five-book historical fantasy series. It's set in an alternate version of the Viking Ages, but one where all myths, folktales, religions, and superstitions have some degree of fact--a world where history as we know it is similar, yet altered by the interactions of gods, heroes, monsters, and spirits with humanity. The particular plot of the story follows a girl of tremendous power as she struggles to achieve the task given to her by the Norse god Baldr: to stop the Roman Empire before it conquers the known universe and casts all things into shadow.
So, then, the book I finished this summer--only a few weeks ago, in fact--is the second book of the five. I'll probably cool it on working on the series for now. My dream is to get an agent and publish the series with a book deal, and until I achieve that there's no sense writing a third book. I find myself without a major project to work on, then, so I've been mulling what comes next. That may, in fact, be a major new fanfic, a sequel to Besides the Will of Evil. It may not be, but I haven't ruled the possibility out. Stay tuned.
Are your two novels available anywhere?
Should just get your out as self-published ebooks. I know I'd be interested in checking them out. Not that you should turn down a publishing contract if one is offered of course.
I am now eagerly awaiting those novels.
I really wanna read those novels. They sound awesome!!
Having two completed novels to shop around with a promised five sounds like a good place to be at. Best of luck finding a publisher.
Ooo.
I'm not saying you shouldn't take a break but just for perspective ( though he is kind of a wonder of writing) Brandon Sanderson had twelve unpublished books before his Elantris was picked up by Tor.
