Many of the comments to my previous blog entry were asking if there was any way of acquiring the fantasy books I mentioned. As I said, my goal is to get an agent and then a book deal, so at this time I've decided against self-publishing.

That isn't to say, though, that I'm opposed to sharing them. If you'd like, you can PM me with a good email address, and I'll happily send along one or both. I'm fairly proud of them, so I'm happy to let people read them.

The former isn't really that much more cumbersome than the latter, and I like the word "Arda" standing by itself. I like to name things. To quote Books of Magic, names have power. That's an old sentiment, going as far back as the days of the Egyptian pharaohs, when things and people were believed to have a special 'true name' that allowed a sorcerer to exert magical control over them. More practically, to name a thing is to define it. Giving something a name allows it to exist more concretely, allows us more clearly to see what it is- and what it is not.
