    Glimpses 2 - Now Complete

Though it was a day late, hopefully, it's not a dollar short. I've posted the final chapter of Glimpses 2! I hope everyone enjoys the last chapter and enjoyed the story as I whole. I would also like to thank everyone that submitted suggestions to my blog about a month ago. The anthology would not have been nearly as interesting without your input!

Update from Me, Question about Past Sins, and Friend Plug · 3:06pm Jun 5th, 2012

So, with Creeping Darkness out there's only one of my old stories left to kick up, and it's the one so many folks are eager for.

Now here's the thing. The Season 2 rewrites are being in conjucntion with this, which is a bunch of people who got together to get a hardback printing done of Past Sins. They put together a team of proof-readers to catch any old typo's and any new typos I may be accidnetly introducing through the Season 2 rewrites.

Because of this, it may be a few more weeks before I can post Past Sins if I want to post it all at once. This is where I must post a question to those who are reading this blog.

Which would you prefer? Would you like to wait until about the end of the month, and then see the entirety of the Season 2 version of Past Sins go up at once? Or, would you want me to post the chapters as they are edited, which would stagger the release of chapters over the course of the month until everything is done.

Basically, do you want some of it now, or do you want to be able to get it all at once later?

And as a final note, a friend of a friend, Eric "Ardashir" Hinkle, recently wrote a nice, sizable crossover with a classic, supernatural book series by the author Manly Wade Wellman. If any part of that simple genre description interests you, I would ask you check his story out: My Little Balladeer

I will gladly (and eagerly) wait until the end of the month for the whole rewrite :pinkiehappy:

Heck I been waiting for as long as I discovered this site :rainbowlaugh:

Well... I must say that I love being able to read things all at once, but...

I don't care which way you want to do the presenting. It is your masterpiece in your art show, let not your peanut gallery decide for you. In short, whatever is easiest for you.

I say the first option. It'll be nice to read the whole thing.

n

all at once later sounds pretty good

I can wait until the end of the month.

I'd like it now - not only is this instant gratification speaking, but Past Sins is a rather long story, and frankly I find the idea of re-reading it in its entirety quite daunting.

Reading it in smaller segments will suit me far better.

Of course, whatever suits you - I'm happy to wait for a story such as this.

I guess I'm the only one saying release it in parts, to get a taste of the changes.

I think that posting it on small chapters at a time would be the best solution.

All at once please.

I vote releasing them as they're edited. It won't be any sacrifice of quality if I'm reading what you're saying right, and it will allow my hunger for reading the edited version ASAP to be sated (and, honestly, it will probably allow me to read the edited version much more easily, because it's generally hard to get myself to read a 100k+-word story all in one go and I also tend to have much more trouble focusing on a fanfic while rereading it than when reading it for the first time).

All at once sounds good.

In parts is better, though maybe with the first few chapters in a group (3 to 5). In general start with enough to provide a good representation to new readers and then put up the rest in parts.

I'd actually prefer post as editted, as that leaves me bits to read in the meantime and makes me pace myself. I can have a hard time reading a full story at the drop of a hat, especially if it's massive.

Later please! The result will make the wait very much worth it

Whole rewrite. Otherwise it'd dominate the Feature box every time it's updated, earning yet more hate.

end of the month sounds good.
Can I get a hardcover? :fluttershysad: I already have a physical copy of Past Sins, but it's paperback and it's the rewrite that's out now.

I can wait a month

I'd vote for installments over the month, just because the chapters are pretty big.
Of course, I have to read and write anyways without Past Sins updates as it is...

Are ya gonna edit the EqD version or keep it the same because I like reading mulite versions.:heart:

...

*Lowers hoof, sighs*

Dang it, you make a viable point. I still prefer "Chapters over time" instead of "All at once", however.
...also, HOW THE BUCKING FETLOCKS DIDN'T I KNOW ABOUT THE PRINTED VERSION?!? :flutterrage:
I take it that I am now too late to preorder one, as the page expired on the 31st of last month? :applecry:

^ Basically what I wanted to say. I'd prefer it in smaller segments.

I'm in no rush and can easily wait, but at the same time I kinda like the idea of dropping it down in staggered increments. I never read the original until well after it was completed, so divided into installments and in combination with the season 2 edits it would be almost like getting to read it as though brand new.

Another, minor, advantage of a staggered is that it could help manage the chaos of the flurry of comments that will inevitably deluge this story when it goes up. Also on a purely selfish note, I know myself all to well. If this thing drops all at one it will completely destroy what ever weekend that follows, because I will be consumed to read it all, in as close to a single sitting as I can manage.

Either way though this is certainly something I've been eagerly anticipating. My only real regret is that I will only be able to star and thumb it once.

All at once, please and thank you.

If I had a choice, I'd prefer the staggered method. I just get this feeling that having the entire story all at once would scare me off of it for some time.

-Tricondon

Seeing as i have never read it (sorry) and i do prefer to read a story from start to finish i say wait

i would rather wait for rewrite

I'll wait for the whole thing

I can wait for the whole thing:twilightblush:

Staggered would be my vote for two reasons.

A selfish reason first, I would like to get started reading the rewrite sooner rather than later. Second, a staggered release means it will probably spend some time in the first three favored slots initially, but once it drops out of those it will probably get a brief showing in the last two favored slots after each chapter updates, giving you a chance for a few more readers.

Yeah, it's not like Past Sins won't get plenty of readers regardless, but more never hurts.

Whatever is easier for yours truly. If staggered, I would be quite happy because it comes out faster. If whole, then I'd be quite happy because I get the read the whole thing.

Whatever works best for you, Penstroke!

:rainbowhuh: Wait a tick... is this rewrite "Season 2 Friendly", as in the events of Season 2 can still happen in the future, or is it "Post Season 2", as in Spike's "Pet" phoenix is going to get a mention? To say nothing of Cadence and Shining Armor?

154250
Post Season 2 adjustments. Cadence and Shining are accounted for but do not play a roll. PeeWee is mentioned.

1.) Thank you and your editors/pre-readers for creating and now reviewing this story and uploading it to FIMFiction!
2.) All at once please -- will give me enough time to prepare for the monumental task of re-reading it all in one sitting

How are you going to do a print run without getting sued?

154265
I was wondering this myself, actually... :applejackconfused:

I will gladly, and couragously, wait an entire eternity for you to put this book up on here. Take as long as you need Pen. Time brings good work. Go for it!

Wait! Wouldn't releasing it in parts put pressure of the proofreaders? I'd actually prefer you to do whatever is easiest for you. I mean, you're the masterpiece writer here! So, whatever works best for you.

It's the same for me, have tons of other stuff to read, so I'd reread it later anyway. I just hope the PS version that will be posted here is the DEFINITIVE. Thank you, and your team for sharing the story.

We've waited this long to see "Past Sins", a few more weeks will hardly kill us. By all means, take your time!

While I'm waiting, though, I shall definitely check out your friend's story.

To be completely honest, and I'm not wanting to sound mean or anything, but I'd really rather the story not go through modifications (again) at all. I know it's too late for that, but still... You're not going to do this again after season 3, are you...? :unsuresweetie:

To answer the question you actually asked, I'd say staggered releases. The full thing will still be up by the same point in time, and if something's missed by these editors of yours, it'll have a much higher chance of being caught by your readers sooner rather than later.

All at once.

Who's "Pee Wee?" You mean Pipsqueak? :rainbowhuh:

take your time, I'd rather wait until the whole thing is done

I vote for release chapter by chapter, although i would have no problem with an end of the month release. There are arguments for both, most of which have already been posted, but for me the clinching factor is that no one would be forced to read it before it is completly there, so those who want a later relase could simply wait until it is complete. (at least in theory, i know how tempting such things can be^^)

Either way works for me since I was planning on re-reading it anyway, but doubly so now that I know its being given a season 2 friendly rewrite.

Umm, the Pledge thing is closed. Is there a way to still sign up, or will you have more info on how to buy it once it's completed?

154355
Pipsqueak is the colt from Luna Eclipsed

Peewee is the name of the baby phoenix has as a new pet at the end of Dragon Quest

154405
154265
For those who are asking about the pledge thing, there will be another call for signups when things are closer to being complete. We want to let as many people in as we can.

As to the question of legality. This is a non-profit printing, books are being sold at cost, and we're making every effort to comply with the US Copyright office's Fair Use rules and regulations.

154411
Are you too busy to PM me when the next call to buy books comes out? I don't know where to check for them.

I will go with waiting :pinkiehappy:
