    The beard of regret.

This is a post about beards. Specifically, my beard. There's pretty much nothing else, so I encourage you to skip this post if you couldn't care less about beards.

    Heh, whoops...

So, trust me to do a big "I'm back!" post and then immediately disappear for a couple months. Sorry about that! The last couple of months at work have been a little brutal, there's some personal home-life stuff happening, and I'm just generally out of practice when it comes to posting. I'll make an effort to post more frequently!

    I can see clearly now...

First of all, I wanted to thank everyone for the warm welcome I got the other day on my previous blog post. I'm not surprised, this is the kindest and most welcoming community I've ever been a part of, but it was very much appreciated! It underscored for me how much I missed being here.

Well, I’ve decided to return to Fimfiction after an incredibly long absence. I’ve really missed this site, especially the community that resides here.

Update on updates · 2:19am Apr 21st, 2014

Hey, all! It's a beautiful day out here in Minnesota, as my dad would say. It was briefly over 60° Fahrenheit today (or 15° Celsius, if that's your preference).

Well, I hate to say it, but work really hasn't gotten any better in the last week, and I still have some family stuff I'm dealing with (it's never just one thing at once, is it? :twilightoops:)
There is good news, though! The writer's block I was experiencing with my stories for the last week seems to be dissolving, and I think chapter 4 is very nearly ready to go, with 5 getting closer, and 6 almost ready to pass over to my editors. So, updates are still coming! I thank you for your patience while I get my stuff together

Also, I got this really fantastic piece of fanart from Genbu that I wanted to share with you all:

Direct link

I think it's pretty awesome :pinkiehappy: Thanks, Genbu!

I have a friend that lives just south of St. Cloud, and from what she has told me that 60 degree weather is a fairly recent thing, something about 10 inches of snow.

And now I must resist the urge to huggle Erin

Nooooo! the broken image link taunts my very soul!:ajsleepy:

Glad to hear the writers block is passing though.:pinkiehappy:

:raritystarry:

Good news is good. :moustache:

Will the ponies get to play human video games soon? :duck:

~The lizardman is anxious

Oh, shoot, it's broken for you? Sorry! Both the image and link work fine on my PC, so I was assuming it would just work for everyone else. Here's a copy-pastable link for ya:

2029808 Wait, now I see whats up. It's the firewall here at work. ... Maybe I should actually be working. :facehoof:

2029816

Working at work? Don't be ridiculous! I heartily encourage goofing off whenever possible!

Anything above 32 F is a nice day when it come to Minnesota. And that snow was rather fun, just as all the winter stuff vanished too. I prefer the snow anyways over rain, usually if it's snowing it's also not cold out, yet when it rains it's often cold.

2029802

This is where I'm going to be all disingenuous and pretend like ponies playing video games isn't going to be coming up in just a few chapters :pinkiehappy:

2029838 ~The lizardman is immune to such trickery, my friend

All the same, I can't wait! The possibilities for shenanigans are endless :pinkiecrazy:

Huh, I didn't know you lived in Minnesota. I've got a friend in Chisholm.

I hope your work and family stuff gets lightens up soon, and I'm stoked to hear there's new chapters incoming. How you manage to keep multiple chapters ahead of what you're posting, I'll never know.

Also, that picture is freaking awesome.

Awesome fanart is awesome. :pinkiehappy:

What is up with so many of us being from MN? We should organize some kinda... thing. I actually did manage to meet up with ChromeWasp one of the last times I was back there.

I like where the new story is going, and that pic is great—Genbu always does good stuff.

2029838
...I now have the mental image of Pinkie playing Katamari Damaci, and taking inspiration from it. :twilightoops:

2030130
Stop complaining, I'm in Iceland. :derpytongue2:

2029900 There's actually a group that meets once a month at the Mall of America. They're a pretty good group of people.

Glad to see that you got over that block okay Hoops. Writer's Block can be a real pain. If it happens again, I'd be willing to help talk over ideas if you want. I can also provide references.

I'm glad it starting to warm up again. We went from green grass to 16 inches of snow, and back to grass this past week.

So you're from MN? You wouldn't happen to be a part of the Minnesota Bronies Facebook group, would you?

Genbu is pretty awesome.

That drawing of Sunflower is really, really well done. The shading and coloring gives it much more mass and volume than most fanart I've seen.

The rivalry between our states requires me to rub it in your face that it broke 70 here.

It's a great picture, but is it deliberate that the nose holes are missing? Makes her muzzle looking a bit strange.:twilightblush:

Here in germany it hasn't snowed even the tiniest little snowflake all winter long... i'm not a huge fan of the cold but no snow at all is kind of depressing too...

2029816
if it still doesn't work i could maybe upload it to my deviant art account? maybe then it will work...

2029853
thank you very much :twilightblush:

2029862
thank you

2029900
thanks... i still owe you a picture, if i ever find the time to finally read your story...

2030262
you are even more :pinkiehappy:

2030748
thanks but i think i made some mistakes with the picture here and there... still trying to get better with my drawing abilities :twilightblush: also i got really lazy with it and didn't add a background...

2031268 Still, you deserve much credit. Drawing an MLP character is easy; taking a naturally two-dimensional character and giving it weight and substance requires not only skill, but willingness to go beyond the minimum and produce something that's not just good, it's surprisingly good. It's an attitude that will serve you well as an artist. Well done!

Really? Driving out of the st paul area where some realitives live and back to wisconsin we hit 72 degrees farenheight. It promptly fell back to about 35F upon nightfall. I'm ready for summer.

Does this mean you're gonna be adding two chapters at once? :raritystarry:

Well, it's good to hear that you are over your writers block.

Good work on the Sunflower painting, always nice to see more art of her. :pinkiehappy:
On these type of paintings where its unnecessary to add a background I find that adding a quick shadow underneath can help improve things a bit. It helps define where the light-source is and helps ground the character and stop them from floating.

2034099

that's a good advice, thanks! btw i really admire your pictures!

2038507
Glad I could be a small bit of help  and thank you!

2038507
Beautiful drawing of Erin:raritystarry::heart:.
also your OC is verry cute:twilightsmile:.

Glad to hear that you're feeling better, Mr McGee!
Warm wishes to you from good old Scandinavia!
