Silver's floundering with Bottom Rung is definitely adorkable. I'm curious if he'll try to pawn Bottom off on Rough Tumble when they get home. The only obvious problem with that pairing, of course, being that they both have feelings for Silver to one degree or another. I'm terribly amused by the idea of them going at it while both letting Silver's name slip in their passionate moans.
Land HO, that title. I think that could make Silver a land pimp.
6156328 It's unlikely that would be a permanent solution, if any solution at all. His only salvation is if he can turn their love away properly, which he's pretty awful about. He wants to be everyone's cure, which has a price.
A "tired-looking" Luna.
There needs to be a closing quotation mark at the end of this sentence.

Clearly, the only solution is to form a third stallions-only herd, consisting of him, Fast Change, Rough Tumble, Bottom Rung, and optionally that changeling that was pretending to be RD. (yes, I know Fast Change is actually a mare and already his wife, but Twilight is in two of his herds already, and Fast Change can change at will and is pansexual, so she gets to be First Wife in the stallions only herd.)
I jest, but I could see it if Silver actually got past his homophobia.
And Night Watch didn't murder him.

A vary good chapter. I like how Silver is thinking towards Bottom I am thinking of Rumble would be a vary nice match for Bottom.
a little up date on Night Wing and the little on would be nice.
Maybe Silver turned Bottom into a lunar daddy, should he dally with a receptive mare.

6156449 So as Saddle Arabia is nigh, Silver tries to settle in with his new servants some more. This chapter was largely about him trying to get used to the recent bout of changes to his entourage, particularly with regard to Bottom. In that regard, the only thing that seems definite are that things are still very much up in the air.
First was Silver's report to his beloved Luna about his new servants. While the discussion about Bottom was too brief to get a good feel for anything, the discussion about Bright Eyes was far more notable. I was surprised by Luna's suggestion that he give the ex-captain to Celestia, since I can't see Celestia accepting any sort of pony that is bound to service. She may be willing to accept Silver's doing so - something that I attribute solely to her respecting local customs that those ponies adhere to - but as the ruler of a nation that doesn't abide by such practices, it seems completely incompatible that Celestia would have forced servitude of her own.
...of course, that's somewhat undercut by the idea that Luna approves of such an arrangement without a second thought, but Luna's always been a bit more of a hardass. That and she's still recovering from a thousand-year time out; maybe Equestria used to be a nation that allowed for harsher punishments back in the day? That has been hinted at. Who knows? Maybe there's even still a law on the books in that regard that Silver can use to justify his ownership of three slaves.
As it stands, I was glad that Silver shot down the idea of giving Bright Eyes to Celestia. More specifically, I was glad for why he did so. He seems to have recognized that he needs a servant that will force him to exercise - that is, strengthen - his dominant side. It's easy to take that statement in a sexual manner, but that's not how I meant it. Rather, Silver is a passive character by nature. Outside of his hobbies, he tends to be reactive rather than active, and can often let those around him dictate the events, tenor, and scope of a situation; that attitude is incompatible with his station, and his duties, as a prince. Luna was correct to note that there's nothing wrong with royalty taking charge. Indeed, not only is that not wrong, but it's an obligation - in quite a few cases, it's wrong if royalty doesn't take charge.
To that end, Silver needs someone who is his lesser in every possible social regard to keep challenging him to such a degree that he asserts his power over them. That's what Aila did, even if gently, and that's a role that Bright Eyes fulfills now (as painful as it is to compare them, Bright Eyes is adopting the same role that Aila had, in terms of being the harsh-tongued broodmare). Silver does, to put it another way, need to master Bright Eyes, and not just by screwing her silly. He has to show, to her and to himself, that he is in charge and should be in charge. He has his work cut out for him in this regard.
Beyond that, I'm a bit surprised with how forward Bottom is being. That is, nothing about this situation was unexpected - Bottom made it clear that one of his favorite foods is essence-of-Silver, and Silver likewise made it clear that his cursed item has undercut most of his pathos about a stallion sucking him off. But I'm surprised at how rapidly it's all escalated. Bottom is being surprisingly forward (even if we define it as just "eating when hungry") with pleasuring his new master, and Silver seems to have lost even the specter of homophobia about Bottom going down on him. Both of these are believable extensions of how things were shaping up, but I feel like we skipped a page on the path here.
What stuck out most, however, was the sequence with Shei. This sent out a lot of messages about where his relationship with the remaining Windsong sister is now, and where it's going.
Normally I'd talk about Silver pimping her out, and Shei's declaration that she wants to be his bride rather than his slave-girl, as two different events...but having thought it over, I think that taking those as two different incidents is a mistaken way to look at it. Instead, what these are are Silver and Shei having increasingly-divergent views as to what sort of relationship they have (or want, as the case may be).
On Silver's end, he's clearly becoming more comfortable with having Shei be his concubine, and using her as such. The very fact that he was willing to pimp her out - and she was right to call it that, technicalities about the lack of monetary exchange be damned - put that front and center. Yes, he asked if she would be willing, and she did say yes, but the fact remains that he was telling her to have sex with someone else, and was doing it for the benefits of that someone else; she was just a convenient pussy to be put to use, insofar as that went.
Silver isn't wrong to take this attitude. The entire point of taking servants was to create a third category apart from "wives" and "mares to stud" that he could have sex with. Legal distinctions aside, this third group - "servants" - is there for the express purposes of having females (and, at least now, the odd male) that he can have non-procreative sex with without it being infidelity, while at the same time not requiring an intimate emotional connection. It's a stable of "casual sex-friends," in other words, with some legal and social quirks thrown in as well (e.g. he owns them). To that end, Silver seems to be, finally, embracing that role. He still obviously likes Shei a great deal, but he doesn't love her, and seems to be okay with that.
Shei, by contrast, has plainly stated that she wants to make the leap from "servant" to "wife," and clearly understands that the way to make that transition is to earn Silver's love. She knows where she is in his eyes, and she wants more...what's less obvious is why. Why is she reaching for even more than she has right now? She made it very clear that she was honored to be his second servant before - something that must have been a shock, given that she's hinted for a while now that she casually threw away her virginity, and that it debased her in her family's (and culture's?) eyes - but now it's not enough for her? What changed?
Of course, my questions here are rhetorical, as the answer has been hinted at for a while: quite simply, Shei has fallen for him. A concubine is there for her master's use, but she's gone beyond seeing him as her owner and benefactor, and developed feelings for him. She showed her hoof in this regard several chapters back when she said "my master loves me," which caught Silver by surprise. That was her projecting her feelings. She loves him, and now being his servant-girl isn't enough.
That's the new dynamic between the two of them, and it's going to be interesting to see where it goes. Silver is the sort that responds instinctively to feelings, but in this case there are plenty of practical reasons leaning in the other direction. Simply put, Silver has too many wives as it is; adding to them would swell things dangerously. It'd also set quite the precedent for any future servants he may acquire; heavens help us if Bright Eyes thinks she can elevate herself to wife-of-the-prince status! What will Silver do if his head says not to marry her, but his heart says to?
Luckily, he has some time to figure it all out, but the clock is ticking...
An amusing story that takes many twists and turns from where it originally began. I find your typo comments to be clever and interesting in that you persisted with that author note for so long. I am glad that Celestia is being less of bitch in this story as compared to the previous ones. Also good job on making an OC alicorn stallion that went through so much shit to get there that people won't whine too hard about it.
As to your blog post about sequels. I think there are two reasons you may be having issues. One, the break points between the stories feel very arbitrary. The stories seem to pick up right where it stopped to the minute with no time going by what so ever. Why separate the tail when it is merely the next chapter. It feels like the Lord of the Rings. Tolkien originally intended it to be one book, but was forced by the publisher to break it up. The break points feel just as sudden and unneeded especially given that there are no publishing costs to consider for fimfiction. Two, though in many ways appropriate, as the character grows your transition to mature themes from one tale to the next can be a factor for a diminished readership. I mean as gross example imagine the next Captain America movie being rated NC17 due heavy sex scenes. Do you think that kind of film would have the amount of watchers as the current films. I doubt it would as many parents would not want to take or be able to take their children to such a film. And in a similar vein to this you may be diminishing the number of potential readers.
For a more consistent readership I would merge you tale of Silver into one story with the appropriate rating from the beginning, telling the reader what to expect in the different acts of the book. I feel that this is so, because to get the whole Silver experience one has to get all of if it. And the current tale can't be easily edited for cloptional chapters as nearly every chapter seems to have clop. Which is ok, otherwise I wouldn't be reading it.
Good Job, overall. Kudos for using the artwork of NightWatch for a Ponyfinder expansion that is awesome!
6158408 Hello there! Nice to hear from readers I don't hear from too often and glad you're enjoying the trip. You are right, of course. Any combined story would have to be Mature/Sex for the whole thing, even if the starting part had nothing going on for several novels worth of words. Ah, life is odd...
6158162 Silver is becoming entangled in a web of relations, with where he wants it to be, where it is, and where others want them to be, and these things are not in agreement. The major saving grace is that neither Shei nor Silver are quick to anger, and seem to understand and even appreciate the peaceful desires of the other. Silver isn't shooting her down, and she didn't remove his head as other females might have attempted. Both are trying to be good ponies, and hopefully they'll find peace.
The Bottom Rung's fate was horrible. I wonder how many layers of Stockholm syndrome does the poor stallion have. Still I can't help but find it hot. Having a submissive partner must be nice...
6159638 Silver does not want! But his desire to help is stronger.
6159643 No doubt. Silver is so good he can make paladins choke (accidental pun, everything went better than expected) on his holiness. Also, he's not into gay stuff.
6159652 You say that, and yet he was the same guy that unleashed a magical plague and branding across an entire city.
Ok...the web of relationship is getting a bit tangled again...
6159673 totally justified. i would just wait until night and kill them all using nightmares/fear bites
Okay, a bit squicked out by the homoerotica. Here's hoping there's not too much of that here.
6583876 There is so much wrong with this story, this series. The gay part is the thing that tips the balance? :D
6583965 i think i know why you brought in bottom rung. Im gonna wait and see if im right and comment later.
