BONUS: The Perfect Host

I watch the passer-bys as they go about their business. I am resting on a mannequin whilst the blacksmith works on some new armor plating. I use my magic to animate the mannequin as the time comes. And the kid passes by at the same time as usual. I follow him.

He turns down the corner and I follw, quickly taking off the armor as my form shifts to a large, hooded unicorn. "Boy," I speak in a deep voice, making him jump and spin around to face me. He stares at me, wide-eyed. "I have watched you everyday, and I sense great power in you."

"But I am nothing," he mutters.

"You feel that. But you are much more than that. I can give you something that will help you harness your power." His eyes brighten, but I'm not finished. But, you must vow to wield both tools wisely. There is no going back if you accept." He hesitates, then nods. Good, he did consider it, but agreed anyways. Maybe he will prove to be better than the others that were powerful. I pull out myself with fake unicorn magic, placing myself onto him. "Good luck." I send the fake into the street out of sight before letting the magic break.

I dive into his mind, flipping through his memories: Lost his good family young, lived on the streets since, not noticed, wishes for a new home, wishes he has a purpose, that his name is Dage and he is 16. I dive deeper to find... Oh, he has an immense amount of magical power, and it is all like mine. He was born to be my host! Oh, yes!

He breaks my train of thought as he wonders what he should do now. I slip in the idea of becoming a knight. He casts it out, remembering how knights fighting for this town killed his family. I slip in that not all knights serve greedy tyrants. He ignores it; most do. Not all knight serve anyone. No- wait, what? Some protect travelers for cash; escorts. Why? You know how people are; thugs pillage and steal. What does that have to do with travelers? They are the most vulnerable to getting thieved or attacked. You have armor and power; you could protect them. Yes, I could. And I will. But where do I start?

I smile as I get my first victory; oh, he is smart, but oh so naive, like a child. No one taught him to grow. That will make it easier for me to take over. Oh, this is the perfect host!

Author's Note:

And thus the Knightmare Dage is born. I hope you enjoy entering the mind of the villian Dage has just ended. That marks the two bonuses for this story. Want to leanr more about the Dage Reality? Look for the next story, His Very Chaotic Mistake, in the near future.

Also, if they had issues with it, and they were not too lazy to dislike, then they would also leave a comment saying why.

I know old comment is old, but that is so not the case. People rarely actually leave comments on stories they don't like. They just click dislike and call it a day.

2111467 Have you not been around the Internet much? I haven't, yet I know that if someone dislikes something, they will not only say thus through a comment or thumbs down, they will comment on why, usually with very vulgar and hateful things beyond what there should be for citism is good, hate and degrading is bad. But I am getting nothing but the same amount of thumbs down as thumbs up. "New thumbs up? Oh, new thumbs down, too." Every. Time. Tell me that's not trolling.

2111658 It's not trolling. I do it all the time. Read a story. Don't like it? Click dislike. Move on. Trolls WOULD post hateful comments. If this many people are clicking dislike but aren't doing anything further... Then they just don't like your story. I wouldn't have commented if it weren't for this ridiculous attempt at explaining dislikes. There are 11 people who don't like your story, and instead of trying to rationalize this, deal with it and figure out how to be a better writer.

And yes. I've been around the internet for thirteen years. I know how this stuff works. I have dislikes on my stories but never got a comment on why. People just didn't like them, and I am totally cool with that. I don't take it as an attack, and neither should you.

2112319 You aren't getting the issue. This was put up. Then got a like. And a dislike. At the same time. Then another of both, at the same time. Well, the dislike was just afterwards. This has continued for most of the time until maybe 8 or 9, where it stopped happening after every single like. That is the issue. That can't be coincidence. Not when I look on it because I saw I got a like to see that there was a just-unregistered dislike.

2112319 If you look at my recent stories, you would see that my story, xCrossx_DaBrony (too lazy to go get the link) has, what, 20 dislikes and 3 likes? My issue there is how nobody is saying anything. It's not hard when it's just the first chapter you have to comment on. Don't be a lazy guy who just goes based off of a primal thought without justifications and instead think, "I don't like this. Why? Because [insert]. Now let's take the few minutes to type up what issues we have and what bits we do like and post it." It's very simple and very good for them.

2112362 I do get the issue and it CAN be a coincidence. Why would anybody purposefully do that? Stuff HAPPENS. And dude, some people don't have anything to say. Unless a story really boils my blood, I don't say anything, because it would just be a waste of time. If a story is bad, that's it. I don't owe you a reason why I think that. Nobody does. This isn't a site for that. If somebody decides to leave a detailed reason, props to them, but we aren't all here to review. We are here to read. If we commented on everything we disliked, we wouldn't have time for anything else.

2112393 Commenting on it is very fast. And, if you really have been around, you know the sheer extents people go to be some of the biggest fucking assholes in the world (without being outright pure evil).

2112525 Yes. I really have been around. And I have seen some stuff like that, but this is not it. People aren't going to pick some random story on FiMfic and just downvote every time they see an upvote. The way you are saying it happened, nine people would have to have enough of a beef with you to actually sit around and wait to see the votes go up. Why would they do that? If somebody would really troll you, you would bet your bottom dollar that they'd use the comments to do so.

Yes, leaving a comment could be quick and easy, but really, most people just don't. That's the way it is. Like I said, when I read a story and I don't like it, I just downvote and go about my day. And that is what most people do. Nearly every story on this site only has like one tenth the amount of comments as it does votes. And some of those could be the same person or even the AUTHOR. We aren't all here, as I've said, to leave constructive criticism. We are just here to find stories that we like. If we like it, we upvote it. If we don't, we downvote it. Some people do nothing at all, no matter how they feel about it. I've read some great stories on here that I never even upvoted, and I read some absolute trash I never even downvoted. Because it doesn't matter how quick and easy it is, this is just a website for My Little Pony fanfiction, and in the end, it sometimes just isn't worth the time.

Some people just read your story, and didn't like it. Coincidentally, some people who DID like it read it at the same time. If this were the result of trolling, rest assured you'd be seeing it a lot more often. But the world isn't out to get you.

2114265 Not 9 people, but a single guy or group. There are trolls who pay hundreds for many accounts just to spam servers and other stuff. Stupidly. We had a guy pop in on upwards of 30 accounts just to troll a popular streamer's Tekkit server.

2116409 Dude. Stop trying to rationalize this. It's absurd to think they'd go after some random fimficcer for no reason. They'd go after Past Sins. My Little Dashie. Stuff like that. Maybe, just hear me out, people just don't like your story. It's entirely possible. I could go into detail as to why later if you like. But you have to get over yourself. Just because people downvote something doesn't mean anybody's after you. They just thought the story was bad and had nothing to say.

2116747 I've been on... I don't know how many stories now on this site, and there are dozens of stories by pratically nameless authors (like myself) that get comments for their stories. Yes, some of them are stupidity. Yes, some of them are trolling. Yes, some of them are simplistic "I liked this"/"I didn't like this". But, I have yet to truly see a story not commented. Other than my own. People always seem to have something they need to say. Unless it's me. And this goes beyond just here. I mean where I actually have a following or such, and yet, now, I am getting ignored despite them being around when I am. And, trolls often will target randomly, no reason other than they happen to be there. I have been targetted because I simply am there so many times. Same with most everyone who has been around the Internet. It's how things have become. You are just being foolish with this whole thing. Now, if you got things to say on this, go ahead; comment or PM, I don't care enough as long as I get it.
