I liked it. But one thing bothered me... I'm not a fan of My Little Dashie, you see. I don't hate it, but it's not my cup of tea. Your sci-fi story is my kind of thing, and when the ending came out of nowhere... Ack!
But your writing is crisp and fun. Out of curiosity, besides My Little Dashie, were there other inspirations for this?

Is actually really fucking good. Granted you are piggy-backing off of MLD a little bit, but 90% of it is completely original, so kudos. Very original story for an MLD sequel (not that I've read many...)
Of course, I might be partial to this because the protagonist is a crotchety old man, and it's written in 1st person present tense, reminds me of a certain other fic
Why the hell is chapter 2 in past tense though?
But hey, you had me literally busting out laughing when he told Meghan to 'go hack a turd' and you just about had me in tears towards the end of the 1st chapter and again at the end of the 2nd. Though I get the termination thing, you were kinda vague about it. I didn't get the whole asteroid thing.
But yea. Fav'd. Thumb'd. Love'd. Hell, I'll even give you a watch, just in case you write something else awesome. You should like, totally watch me too. Though I'm not sure you should do a sequel to this. It's great by itself.
