The Equestrian Civil War has been brewing for nearly twenty years at this point, just below Equestria's surface. Anger and resentment from Southern Equestria; hatred and spite against what they view as an over-reliance, over-abundance, and the heavy hoof of Equestria's Alicorn ruling elite is about to crack the nation in half. Into this coming deluge of gunpowder and the maelstrom of blood and death surely to follow behind it is thrust Twilight Sparkle, second in command of Equestria's armies- behind Princess Luna herself.

What exactly is the difference between pony infantry and cavalry? I doubt ponies are riding on the backs of other ponies.

Battlefield role primarily.
Infantry mostly marches in line formation, carrying heavier, full-sized rifles, bayonets, and the like. Their job is to be the main attacking or defending force in a fight, and due to their size, they can't guarantee they'll all be flight capable.
Cavalry units tend to be smaller, and their duties range from recon gathering to screening friendly troop movements, raiding, covering long distance in short times, etc. They carry shorter and usually much lighter Carbines, Pistols, and sabers, and might all be mustered as fliers so as to take advantage of aerial recon.

Thank you! Just posted another chapter, and yes, John Clem is an interesting guy. He stuck around the army long enough to see WW1 as well, if memory serves, where he was a ranking officer.

Yeah unfortunately, the way modding Grand Tactician works is that you add/overwrite files to separate campaigns (barring available commanders, whose text file is in config). That means if the game updates a campaign, it re-downloads all the original files. Whiskey and Lemons updated ALL the campaigns (and added a new one) which is what caused the issue.
Oh well, we'll move on anyhow.
