PonyMarine

T

The mares and stallions of the 368th Night Fighter Squadron are back in action as Princess Luna sallies forth to tend to some tender diplomatic missions in the Coral Shoals. The ponies will have to adapt to sea duty and the confines of ship life, not to mention the challenges of carrier aviation... and dealing with navy pilots.

With a new threat looming on the horizon, it's up to Flare, Zephyr and Clanky to see the mission through before the tides of war sink Equestria's futures... permanently.

This is an action-adventure fic, dark tag is because for Equestria anything with a war or dying is pretty dark to my mind. Ponies are fighting and individuals will die, it is however no more graphic then say... the movie Top Gun. There will also be adult language (cussing, lots and lots of cussing) through out the story.

First an entire wing of aircraft is destroyed, now a ship is sunk with it's entire crew killed. Why do your stories have to start with such catastrophes. Oh well, great stories require great sacrifices.

Well no pony would read a military fic during peace time "Wash the deck, mandatory training, lunch, more cleaning, more training, go home, rinse, wash repeat"

Also not ALL my stories start with horrible catastrophes, Equestrian Mythology and Lo.... wait that starts with the death of the Princesses parents and the rolling chaos that is Dizty Doo... errr... hmm you might have a point.

When I want my Tom Prancy in abridged form, you are the go to guy! (Though seriously, work on the tenses that second to last paragraph starts in past and changes to present at the end)

Yeah the prologue shockingly is pre-editing...

I'm wagering that a splinter faction really doesn't want Equestria to play nice with Meraria.

Interesting developments here, tracking as always.

:facehoof:
Twilight you so funny when you little.

Ah yes, carrier ops. My father told me the horror stories that he heard from the pilots when he served in the Navy (Intel specialties as a Mustang). Some chilling stuff happens on those carriers :pinkiecrazy: I think I'll keep my boots ground side :pinkiesick:

Also noticed I was the first reader and comment, w00t! (First time I ever got to say that :pinkiecrazy:)

I've heard from reputable sources that those carrier pilots are a whole different breed of badass. They kind of have to be, when just landing is life or death. You'd think it'd be comfortable being stationed on a floating death-fortress, but I've heard some horror stories as well. Yeesh.

A well written dogfight. Good job. I'm a little surprised that the F/A-29 lost to a VTOL, but I don't really know the F/A-48's specifications. Also, it just goes to show that it is the kind of pilot, not the kind of plane, that matter. The right kind of plane just helps.

Took you long enough... How long has this been out of the editing hangar?

312969 Actually, if you look at the Falklands War in 1982, British Harriers managed to turn the tables against Argentine Mirages and Super Étendards. :twilightblush:

326900 Interesting, I have never heard of that conflict before. Sounds like something that I need to look into. Thanks.

So word of warning, updates might be kinda intermittent, I've been fighting IRL and inspiration and well... losing lol. Bad case of writers block/

Getting distracted by ME3 REALLY didn't help.

You can all badger me on Tumblr now too I've kinda got an ask blog http://askamarinebrony.tumblr.com/

In your previous fic you used Fox Four to indicate special storm munitions, in this one you used it when you should have used Guns

>Trans-aquatic fighters

Goddamn that's horrifying. Good to see another action-packed chapter. Don't worry about inspiration, it comes in spurts. I guess.

You've seen sky captain and the world of tomorrow haven't you? :derpytongue2:

Forget not to add, "supercruise" and "wet engine" to the glossary

former means going supersonic without afterburner, latter means that the afterburner is being used (at any speed) so "wetting her engines" means she turned on the afterburner, in this case after having already gone supersonic.

Awww hell, that's a mess up back then not here. Fox four is the NATO brevity code for guns, I should have been using "Fox Five" for those storm munitions. I'll go back and edit that in Luna's Own.

I love that movie... I didn't think about it till after I started writing this though. The thought process was more "Hmmm... I want to use the sea ponies... how the hell am I gonna swing that with all my heroes as fighter pilots? .....Idea~!:raritystarry:

Inspiration wise my brain is just being stupid right now... "HEY! Hey listen! let's do THIS, THIS would be bucking AWESOME!" "But that's not Stormriders stuff..." "BUT IT'S AWESOME!" "Right but we have other things to do..." "Do multiple projects." "In my copious free time?" "Social lives are for losers"

translation: I'm trying to work on the next chapter of Stormriders but my brain is throwing out ideas for cool stuff that is completely unrelated. I think I might have hit another Pony burn out for some reason or another...

Oh I know the feeling, which is why you'll see me transitioning between writing and making music a lot.

Most excellent, as always,

I should have started reading this a long time ago.

Manecuso, heh

I'm still trying to decide if a ponyfied Hunt for Red October is a good idea.

211617 You don't even want to know what I have planned for the spinoff. :pinkiecrazy:

Nightmare Moon as Dagon? and Evil Seaponies as Shauhigins

Reports of your Indoctrination are greatly exaggerated, PonyMarine.

This is truly an amazing piece of fiction i started reading this and i have been on the edge of my seat the entire time.
Thank you for writing this and I implore that you continue with this work.
