Here's hoping that the trip to Griffindell won't turn into a trail of tears.

No, it won't be like that.
These griffons are more like refugees that the northerners are going to accommodate in their lands. The problem is that Wayfarer's Rest is too close to the border and they wouldn't feel safe. It also can't support that many griffons because of how small of a city it is. Which is why only the elderly and the handicapped are staying in the vineyards. Basically, Frozenlake and Brokenhorn are going to split them.
In the end, it's just that Gilda must make her way to Griffindell and these griffons are trailing behind her.
Doesn't mean it's gonna be easy, though.
Its funny you mention drauger, my roommate just started replaying skyrim.
LOVELY CHAPTER btw

Griffon draugar are probably worse than human draugar. But at least they just screech at you, not shout in dragon tongue.
Love Skyrim. Every once in a while I feel an urge to play it.
I'm assuming the proper order to read the chapters between both stories are in the order of publication? Sorry, I don't think I had ever gotten around to asking that before.

Not necessarily. I tried to outline the stories so that you could read one whole and maybe wonder about an event or another and then find out about the events on the other story. But it's not supposed to be immersion breaking. They are ultimately meant to be independent, but enhance one another. Although the stories are lining up well enough.
I mean, Godwin and his sisters are characters that have this backstory, but moving forward, knowing the details of how they got to Wayfarer's Rest can be interesting, but is not necessary if someone isn't interested in Piece of Parchment.
