i would snuggle them both into submission!
It might not have been a major focus of this chapter, but that little tidbit about The Harpy being better able to connect with Gilda in different situations is actually really intriguing in terms if it's implications to this setting's magic system!
From the sound of it powerful magical beings are better able to interact with the world when there is a significant presence of their followers in an area, as well as individuals more in tune with their patron. It would explain why The Harpy was only able to act as a voice in Gilda's head when she was in the South, yet now can appear as a full apparition in a city filled with her faithful.
Of course the less rosy side of this is that could mean the same is also true of the Windigos, given that their influence grows in ruins where the Drauger gather, and also the further north you go. Been realizing after the fact that that little adventure at the Five Peaks mine was almost certainly a trap set by the Windigos for Gilda, with that abducted griffon serving as the bait.
Sorry I know I'm rambling, I'm just really digging the amount of world building that has gone into the setting of this story!

It is a faith-based system. The more Gilda believes, trusts and aligns with the Harpy, the more powerful she'll become because the Harpy can channel her more of her power. And the more griffons worship her, the more powerful she'll become. Which is why she needs the griffons to destroy Celestia (and the other alicorns too).
Gray Dames is about that too. It brushes on how Celestia dismantled the cult of the alicorns and reduced them to 'normal' ponies.
The Windigos are a bit different. They 'impregnate' on the land, creatures and reality itself, corrupting the magic associated with it. They grow more powerful by 'eating' things.
