The NEC 8427 is the United States Naval MOS for a Special Amphibious Recon Corpsman, SARC's are trained to treat more severe injuries than a standard corpsman and also are trained in minor surgery, diving illness and injury diagnosis and treatment, basic life support, prevention and treatment of swimming-related illness and injuries -both closed and open circuit-, inspection and maintenance of SCUBA and related equipment. Some are trained in veterinary medicine and Paramedical actions, they operate with Marine Force Recon and at times cross-train with U.S Navy Seals.

Her specialty was pediatrics and rare pathology, but those don't really apply in Equestria, but she is a trained trauma surgeon and had specialists with her making sure she put the organs in the right spot. She has performed trauma surgery in less than sterile areas with good results before she was discharged so she has a good idea of what's going on when she needs too, along with being a trained veterinarian as her first squad had a bomb dog.
