Great fight scene. Sombra is definately a menacing villain here, more so then in the show. I wonder how he plans to deal with Discord. I also think he's forgetting about Celestia and Luna.

During this chapter, you are probably right. He's got a lot to think about, so Celestia and Luna slipped his mind for the moment. Bad call, because they defeated him before. A guy this arrogant would also underestimate many other potential threats in Equestria, even while he's facing them directly.
I tried to show that he may be arrogant, but he's that way for a good reason. That is his weakness, but at least he's aware of that. Neiveness, hope, and mercy was something he played against Starlight in exchange. He used Starlight's desire to protect all of the innocence against her. So, in a way, they both played each other.
Despite how things turned out, I hope I conveyed well a valiant attempt on Starlight's part. I wanted to show that she did everything she could with consideration to her situation. She was actually the underdog in this situation considering Sombra's advantage with the fused magic crystals, and that is a fascinating perspective for the main character. For once, I am expecting the readers to root for the opponent, especially since Cozy was secretly doing the same.
And again, this chapter is meant to serve as further illustration of Cozy's internal change as a character. Her situation is a severe and dramatic wake-up call for her, so if she changes later because of it, I'm hoping that my audience can nod to themselves in understanding.
As for Sombra, this is the way I see him when he's committed to his objectives more seriously. He is the entity of fear, so he should be scary. This cold and imposing tyrant who gleefully crushes his opponent's courage and hope with overwhelming power. There is a dark mystique to him despite, or even because of, his abhorrent nature. I dressed him up to be an epic villain that I felt he should have been when he first appeared, and further illustrated in the youtube video, "Fall Of The Crystal Empire". He should serve as a stark contrast to valiant and noble heroes.
