I wonder if Cozy's parents were always abusive or only became so after a certain point. Based on Cozy's "memories" it could go either way at this point.
Getting this close to Diamond might just be the best thing thats happened to Cozy in a long time in terms of getting her to be a better person. It's a shame it happened in such a horrific way. Hopefully Cozy will get another person arrested, but this time, someone who actually deserves it.

Yeah. One thing I was definitely going for in this story, and it's especially illustrated in certain chapters, is to give the readers hope that things could turn out all right or even well. I suspect most are thinking, "Does it happen? And if so, how does it happen?" That's the hook I'm relying upon to help encourage the readers to finish the story. That insatiable excited curiosity of, "What happens next?"
Not to spoil anything, but I see your point. Getting closer to Diamond, someone who has suffered in much the same was as Cozy might have, could teach her a valuable lesson. I did admit earlier in chapter 1 that this would ultimately be a redemption story, but right now you can also see all the things that could go wrong, so you (and everyone else) is just left with that desperate hope. Already you can imagine maybe a thousand different scenarios who things could get worse or better.
Cozy's association with Diamond was something she planned on, except not to this degree.
"Misery likes company," as they say. Knowing how others can be identifiable and relatable to you cools the flames of hatred. In this case, Cozy succeded in her mission too well. That's how she felt about sending Sunset to jail, too.
As for getting another person arrested, I'm pretty sure whom you mean. As you seen in chapter "Chapter 18: Shadow Play, Part 4, Give 'em Hell, Kitty!", Cozy can attack other truly guilty parties too, like that one player who cheated in the game. She can also betray the innocent, but in that case, she's tortured with guilt. Clearly, she's not as evil as she thinks, and that should give the readers even more hope.
Damn.
Edit: It's all but confirmed now... except now I'm unsure if Sunset did manipulate/erase Cozy's memories as a form of mercy or you're basing it entirely off of the real world phenomenon. Though I'm unsure
such an erasure or blocking off of memory would be that clean. I've only heard of compartmentalization via split personalities.

Well, let me assure you of one thing. I don't consider my history to be that abusive, and certainly not to this extent.
But the thing about writing fiction is to open the door to strange new worlds where anything can happen. I'm writing a story and I want it to be as compelling as possible. The fact that you had to question if this is real tells me that I've made the scenario frighttentingly relalistic. I hope that did not scare you away.
