You know, AppleDash could be confirmed canon in the comics.
From that one moment when the two mares appeared together during 'The Last Problem', when they were arguing over how to handle the chores, there's been a lot of speculation from fans since that day on whether it's just two friends being roommates, if this is just their typical teasing of each other... Or maybe, JUST maybe there's a slight possibility they might be more than friends. Now I may be one of the straightest users/writers you'll ever encounter, but I find no fault in exploring such a possibility. As an artist, I've always believe that the subject of romance, one properly developed, is the most powerful friendship experienced from all walks of life and no pairing should be overlooked. And having worked in theater for a lengthy period of time, where these kinds of upstanding members of society are practically common, I've grown so used to it that it's not something to make mountains out of molehills (Unlike some jerks I know).
Now, I'll admit, I always assumed the 'Rarijack' shipping would be the ultimately deal and the 'Appledash' pair kind of came out of nowhere by the end. When it comes to Applejack and Rainbow Dash, besides being voiced by the same actress they generally didn't strike me as having romantic interests initially (Rainbow Dash annoyed with Zephyr Breeze's attempts and Applejack paying little attention to Trenderhoof's infatuations, even though I didn't care for him). They always compete with each other, tease each other, argue with one another (That Season 8 episode being among their worst), and they have this 'friendly rivalry' ordeal that's been most common. So, it was difficult for me to see if such a union was possible when it seems they act more like sisters than anything romantically implied.
And yet... And yet the more I think about it, the more I start to visualize the potential. And unshamefully, some friends and I explored this possibility in some of our works. We mostly tease about it since it's still kind of 'up in the air' or at least up for interpretation, but in our minds in order to do it justice we wanted to make sure it's 'just' right before making any commitments. What I 'don't' appreciate, even though other people have their opinions, is when they disrespectfully say that such a union goes against the 'higher-ups' words of how life is supposed to be, just because some book was written as such. Now I've read it multiple times, I attend the services, and I even attend the holiday Christmas pageants, but I'm not going to like or dislike something because some figure beyond my understanding tells me so. As a human being amongst fellow humans, I want to feel 'free' to make my own choices, be willing to give other people a chance to freely go about their lives, and perhaps find that romance can still work as a genre no matter what pairings we deal with so long as it's not 'greatly' exaggerated.
I hope this story works out, no matter what direction you take, what obstacles get in the way, or if things get a little high above a 'T' rating (I don't care about that). All that matters is you have a vision, you want to determine how such a union is possible, and as long as it stays true to each character's personality and what they are willing to do to prove otherwise, I see great potential in this story.

Of course, it's the least I can do. Some people just get so sensitive and childish over these things, as I say they are the type of people who make mountains out of molehills when it's not wanted. This is the 21st century after all, time's are changing and it's wise to change with it. And this is coming from a chap who despises change with a passion.
